“…let the beauty and grace of the Lord—our God—rest upon us and bring success to all we do; yes, bring success to all we do!” (Psalms 90: 17, the Voice Translation)

God’s active radiance is ready to be received and felt. We don’t have to strive to gain access to the beauty and grace of God. This verse reminds us that we can “let” it rest on us. We can bask in this loving Spirit of God and feel its blessings.

This release to God’s qualities and their power brings us success. As we accept the lovely goodness, the generous Love, that God has towards us, we are guided in our lives and supported in our endeavors. We can turn to the Source of Life, and feel this animating Spirit renew us and strengthen us.

This tender grace of God takes away the strain of needing to prove oneself, of trying to accomplish certain human goals according to some arbitrary, changing model of achievement. It leaves us free to enjoy real success and satisfaction, knowing that it flows forth from God, from the Truth, which is loving, powerful, right, and beautiful.

“Lord, You light my lamp; my God illuminates my darkness.” (Psalms 18: 28, Holman Christian Standard Bible)

The darkness may seem all-encompassing. Our night may feel long and lonely. But divine Love is right there. And this perfect and powerful Love is able to bring us light. God’s very presence and goodness illuminates the darkest times and places, breaking up the shadows and letting us see more clearly our safety, our peace, our way out of the gloom.

God is light and He gives us light. God’s Love for us ignites our lamps, gives us insight and inspiration, strength and motivation, to wake up and to go forward. His Spirit continually replenishes us so that we not only have enough light to see our own way, we also have enough to help others find theirs.

We don’t need to rely on our own ingenuity or willpower to get out of hard times. We can turn to the Source itself and receive that new and fresh enlightenment that God has for us. We can eagerly open our hearts to get fired up, warmed up, and aglow with God’s animating, illuminating, Life!

“The Spirit can make life. Sheer muscle and willpower don’t make anything happen. Every word I’ve spoken to you is a Spirit-word, and so it is life-making.” (John 6: 63, the Message Bible)

We can use willpower and our personal strength and ingenuity to try to make things happen. We can force life to fit into plans we have for ourselves and for others. These attempts to manipulate our experience are not true creation. They proceed from a limited sense of life, rather than from the real Source of Life.

Spirit, the Word of God, His light and Love, are the true creative power. God’s thoughts, His intentions, His Spirit of Truth, animate our purpose, feed us with energy, and bring us success. The spiritual qualities impelled by God’s intention are what empower us and protect us and cause us to really know what it feels like to live.

Our best human efforts can weary us and feel futile at times. But when we yield our egos to the power of Life itself, God, to reveal what is good and right for us, we gain peace and make progress. We receive insights that are healing. We are renewed and revived. We feel strong and certain and alive!

“Why are you cast down, O my inner self? And why should you moan over me and be disquieted within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall yet praise Him, Who is the help of my countenance, and my God.” (Psalms 42: 11, Amplified Bible Classic Edition)

We all have times when we feel despair and a yearning for peace. We may find it very easy to trust that voice in us that feels lost and to believe that is tells us the whole story.

But we can question this limited and fearful self. We can recognize that the devilish temptation to give in and give up is one that has no real validity and no genuine allure for us. We can start by listening for that wiser voice, the one that knows the infinite possibilities available for our comfort, our release, our freedom.

We can begin with hope. We can stop focusing on the dark and look up. We can be expectant of the breaking dawn—that inspiration, light, and healing will make itself known to us. God is ready to help us. We can be ready to let Him reveal His Spirit in us, that vital Life and tender Love that is stronger than our moaning, than the lure of hopelessness. We can gratefully praise God because with Him all things truly are possible, our salvation and joy is at hand.

“In this confidence let us hold on to the hope that we profess without the slightest hesitation—for he is utterly dependable.” (Hebrews 10: 23, J.B. Phillips New Testament)

Feeling complete confidence in ourselves, in what we can accomplish, even in our faith, can often seem difficult. It may feel like our doubts are greater than our trust.

But we can recognize and cling to that hope that we have—that spark of awareness that there is something greater than ourselves, that divine Love is real, and that we are worthy to feel and know this. We can recall times of inspiration and healing, and be open to renewed expectation of good.

We don’t have to wait for a sign to do this. We can jump right in, without hesitation, not because of our own certainty and strength, but because God is reliable. God is a constant. He is always the Truth. He is always Love. He is always present. He is utterly dependable.

Let’s feel free right now to lean into this glorious good news, and to gratefully let God guide our hopes further, forward, into full realization.

“And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten…And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.” (Joel 2: 25-26)

Receive this comforting promise. We shall have restoration. What seems to have been lost—our good and our progress eaten by the locusts of time and circumstance—will bloom afresh. We can expect renewal and abundance from our God Who loves us.

Divine Love replenishes us with new inspiration, provision, growth in understanding, and expanding experience. We can do our best to stop focusing on the locusts—seeing ourselves as victims of life, time, matter, other people—and be open and ready to be made new.

And we can allow ourselves to appreciate our renovation without shame or guilt. Any losses, mistakes, dark episodes of yesterday, can be washed away along with the unkind imprint of them on us. We can invite God in to give us His plenteous grace, mercy, and to restore us with more than enough to be satisfied and to be generous with our joy as well.

“Even though our inner thoughts may condemn us with storms of guilt and constant reminders of our failures, we can know in our hearts that in His presence God Himself is greater than any accusation. He knows all things.” (I John 3: 20, the Voice Translation)

We may feel we know ourselves well. We know our shame and mistakes, bad thoughts and intentions. We all can tend to ruminate at times over our inadequacies, stirring up storms of guilt and condemnation within us.

It’s easy to believe we are wise in our assessments, that we know what we know. But our negative human judgment of self is not greater than God’s presence and Love. God knows us truly and through and through. He sees into our hearts, and we can trust Him to remind us of our true goodness, and to cleanse us of our errors and of those beliefs of unworthiness.

All the accusations we may lay on ourselves are powerless to change what God knows. We are protected by His true view, God’s perspective of us that sees our fears and doubts and reveals that we are not miserable sinners, but His own beloved children. We can do our best to stop mentally punishing ourselves, and to listen to and receive God’s Truth—His honest and loving and saving grace.

“In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success.” (Proverbs 3: 6, the Living Bible)

We may feel that the only way to get ahead in our lives is to put ourselves first, to look out for number one. Or, conversely, we may always put ourselves last, placing others and their needs ahead of our own.

But neither approach brings true success. It is by putting God first that we truly thrive. As we let go of ego, our own or that of others; as we release the responsibility for our own well-being and a desire to prove our value to others; as we just let God be God, we find our true way. We discover that by trusting God, good, divine Love and being obedient to His design, we accomplish what is right, meaningful, and really satisfying.

And this verse reminds us to put God first in all that we do. So, this means that any time we are tempted to put fear first, or put another’s approval first, or put human opinions first—in the big or small details of life—we ought to wake up to this. We can realize that there is no power in those things. They aren’t a premise that can help us or progress us.

But God can do this. He is the Origin and Source. Let’s put Him first and see His very good creation revealed in our lives each day.

“Mind is not necessarily dependent upon educational processes. It possesses of itself all beauty and poetry, and the power of expressing them. Spirit, God, is heard when the senses are silent.” (Science and Health, p. 89)

We have access to great wisdom and artistry. We can do our best to stop limiting our own capacities and judging them based on arbitrary measurements. God’s glorious goodness and the ability to express it knows no such restrictions or conditions.

Our job is to silence the senses and the voices of judgment and to be receptive to the Spirit. The Mind of God has within itself infinite ideas that demand expression. We can give voice and manifestation to the beauty and poetry and healing inspiration that God reveals. We are one with this Mind and it is in no way lacking in knowledge, readiness, power.

Let’s release our egos and its comparisons, concerns, critiques, and be free to feel and to know and to share what God is forever graciously unfolding. Let’s know that we are worthy to hear God’s voice, for He made us to do so. He created us to be the very living evidence of His loveliness, His brilliance, and His boundless Love.

“Those who make peace are happy, because they will be called the sons of God.” (Matthew 5: 9, New Life Version)

God’s creation is a peaceful one. His design is for harmony, unity, progress, joy. God made us all and we all must express His intention which can’t include discord, distrust, anger, war.

As we align ourselves with God’s purpose, we are active instigators of peace! We seek this peacefulness in our minds and hearts and do our best to encourage peace in our world. The sons and daughters of God are conscious of their family—all God’s ideas—and our natural oneness as brothers and sisters. They are peacemakers because they know that division is not Truth. It is a false view of the Life that is Love.

Actively taking a stand for peace, keeping this vision of unity and agreement in thought, and promoting it, brings us satisfaction within. We are happy being what we were made to be, children of God, good. We are happy assuring one another, comforting others, bringing solutions, rather than arguing and fighting. We are glad to give up the fear and the doubt and the blame and the shame, in order to simply express and accept God’s Love, His peace, His generous grace.
