“Pay close attention now: I’m creating new heavens and a new earth. All the earlier troubles, chaos, and pain are things of the past, to be forgotten. Look ahead with joy.” (Isaiah 65: 17-18, Message Bible)

You don’t want to miss this! Stay awake and be ready. God is eternal and He is the Creator. He is constantly giving birth to new ideas, new experiences, a renewed view of life and of reality.

It’s easy to get captivated by yesterday’s woes and allow the troubles to occupy our present thought and make their way into our predictions for the future. But this perspective is only turning us away from the brilliance of the new day at hand for us. God’s goodness can’t be hidden, and His Life can’t be stopped, buried away, destroyed.

Let’s allow God’s refreshment to come to us. Let’s open our thoughts and our hearts to something new—a deeper awareness of and appreciation for what God is doing. We can drop the old baggage, give up our attachment to it, and let the fresh day reveal its opportunities for us and for our beautiful, heavenly, earth.

  1. When I was very young… many, many years ago… my Mom took us to visit my Aunt in New York. We took the train from Ohio to New York. That was WAY before airplanes were popular or even available. I remember the Porter on our “sleeper car”, a guy who took care of us on the train and took care of our bags, etc. As I read your piece I remembered the Porter, an elderly black gentleman, who was so kind and helpful. When I think of Porter now, as in “Stand Porter at the door of thought” I think of those old Porters on the train, and how they took care of our “baggage”. And how today as “Porter at the door of thought”, the Porter keeps the baggage of erroneous thought under control and eliminates the BAD BAGGAGE!!!
