“Why am I so depressed? Why this turmoil within me? Put your hope in God, for I will still praise Him, my Savior and my God.” (Psalms 42:11, Holman Christian Standard Bible)

We may ask ourselves these questions as well. There may be days where we feel down, perhaps due to circumstances or maybe without any outward reason. We may find ourselves feeling stirred up, anxious, our thoughts running wild, unable to see clearly or find solutions.

But questioning the mortal mind, seeking to know why we are feeling this way or that way, doesn’t give us true answers or peace. It only keeps us more engaged with that very limited thought that is uncomfortable and uncertain, that seems caught up in what isn’t helpful but seems to want our attention.

Let’s stop asking for wisdom where it can’t be found. Let’s stop looking for explanations from the ego when it is lost in the waves of its worry. Instead, let’s put our hope in God! Let’s refuse to look for causes or counsel in self and release ourselves to our wise and all-knowing God.

We can take a powerful pause to honor God Who is always with us with Love and Truth, ready to lift us out of despair and confusion and into a higher view of things, one that can truly show us our way home.

God’s kindness and light are always here for us. We can relinquish personal self and its sighing and allow God to lead us out of ourselves and our worries and into true peace and resolution.
