“Don’t revel only in the past, or spend all your time recounting the victories of days gone by. Watch closely: I am preparing something new; it’s happening now, even as I speak, and you’re about to see it.” (Isaiah 43: 18-19, the Voice Translation)

Stay in that sweet state of anticipation. God’s ever-unfolding, always blossoming Life, has something new to say to you. Today.

We can stop being transfixed by the past, either in celebration or mourning, and be ready, open, to the new revelations God is preparing for us today. We are in the middle of God’s artistry coming into glorious being. He is creating a masterpiece today which includes us, beautifully and actively.

Let’s rejoice in the new year, the new day, with a joyous expectation of good. Let’s give up regrets. Let’s stop bracing for trouble. Let’s make today the day we begin releasing a sense of time altogether and awake to divine Love’s new and eternal moment for us and for all.

“We acknowledge you as our Provider of all we need each day.” (Matthew 6: 11, the Passion Translation)

Are we doing this? Are we acknowledging God as our Provider each day? Or are we looking at our lives with a belief in and focus on lack and limited resources?

As we consciously acknowledge infinite Love, ever-present Mind, as our Source, our eyes are open to the constancy and rightness of God’s provision. Seeing material channels and people as the providers of our good is limiting. While our supply may appear through human outlets, these are merely the revelations of Love’s substance made known to us.

God has all our good in His capable hands. He is able to distribute this goodness to us in the right time and in the right way. Each day. Each hour. We can acknowledge—claim with confidence—God’s ability and desire to provide for our needs, including the inspiration, love, comfort, peace, and energy that we may require.

Let’s gratefully awaken each day to God’s boundless resources, be ready to receive them, and to share generously of this abundance as well.

“For what is the use of a man gaining the whole world if he loses or forfeits his own soul?” (Luke 9: 25, JB Phillips New Testament)

We can wish to gain a lot in this world, but are we recognizing the real cost? We can accumulate riches, accolades, power, but can these things really guarantee a true contentment or a real understanding of what is right and good?

If we sacrifice our spiritual growth for material possessions, we give up the very thing that can truly satisfy. Our wholeness, our integrity of being, is our place of rest and joy. We must realize and nurture our true sense of worth, that eternal identity that isn’t made grander by amassing things in this world, but by knowing ourselves as God made us to be.

If we chase after human accomplishments and become someone who we no longer even recognize, we have exchanged our own souls for some flimsy identity. It is surely right to expect to flourish, but if our motives are less than honest and good or we are driven by personal will or by the opinions of others, any gains may come at a greater loss of what really matters.

Let’s not give up the infinite heaven of being true to ourselves by striving for the limited and limiting things of earth.

“For you who revere my name the sun of righteousness shall rise, with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall.” (Malachi 4: 2, New Revised Standard Version, Anglicized)

We can expect healing and release. We can expect to feel renewal and freedom.

If we are to really experience this heaven at hand, something may be required of us—a reverence of God and His power. This conscious honoring of God, good, the Truth of Life, means we must cease revering a belief in something else, some other power and presence.

The sun of righteousness, that ever-present light of Life and Love, is shining upon us. As we turn toward it, rather than rejecting it and giving more attention to the clouds of sense, ego, and matter, we see the light that is healing. We feel the dawn dissolve the darkness. We awake with a readiness to enter the day with hope, joy, and new energy.

And as we consciously worship our loving God, we daily grow in inspiration. We are strengthened by this discovery of what is always at hand. We come to realize our ability and worthiness to feel and know the sun of righteousness, the active law of grace.

“Love…does not keep account of evil or gloat over the wickedness of other people. On the contrary, it is glad with all good men when truth prevails.” (I Corinthians 13: 6, JB Phillips New Testament)

Let’s accept and experience the truest and most powerful Love. Let’s recognize that we truly want to express this love and not to diminish it, or ourselves, by qualifying it.

If we profess to be loving people, to have good values and compassion toward one another, we can’t be focused on the opposite. If we are making constant account of what others are doing, the evil we may see, and finding ourselves superior, we are not loving as we should. We can stop pointing fingers at others and instead find it in our hearts to unite with Love, God’s glorious Love.

This divine Love perfectly loves all. Each idea is precious to God. We can be generous with the bountiful Love that God has given us. We can refuse to make others into demons and instead simply love, as we were meant to do. We can gratefully rejoice that Truth must win and that this Truth is Love.

“[DIVINE LOVE] is my shepherd; I shall not want. [LOVE] restoreth my soul [spiritual sense].” (Science and Health, p. 578)

We are being watched, protected, guided in every moment, in every day, and through each night. We belong to the beloved flock of the Shepherd, and that Shepherd is Divine Love.

Divine Love knows our every need and is able to lead us to where we can feel restored, rejuvenated, refreshed, and safe. God’s Love, His tender and faithful presence, shows us what we have and who we are. We can’t be in want of this consciousness, this sense of peace, of worth; we can’t lose our spirit of joy, our enthusiasm, our way.

It is divine Love that restores our soul, our spiritual sense. It isn’t judgment or fear or opinion or toil that reveals anew our awareness of the good, the true, the inspired. It is Love that does this—Love that knows us as the lambs of His care and Who wants us always both to be fed and to frolic.

Release yourself gratefully to the Shepherd’s intimate and perfect care. Let Him show you that your Life is evidence of His Love, so it must glow with health, beauty, insight, glory, and joy.

“Out of my deep anguish and pain I prayed, and God, you helped me as a father. You came to my rescue and broke open the way into a beautiful and broad place.” (Psalms 118: 5, the Passion Translation)

We can turn to God as children when our struggles seem difficult, even insurmountable. We can release ourselves to God’s tenderness when we feel incapable of clarity or peace. God, divine Love, helps us as a father. God comes to us as little ones whom He loves, and guides us, teaches us, carries us home.

We may feel we have sought too long or are lost or cynical or unworthy. But we can remember that our Father-Mother only sees His children who have come to Him with earnest desire. Our divine Parent wants us to thrive and to see our own potential, our possibilities, our value.

With each challenge, God reveals new insights, shows us new strengths, provides us new opportunities to live and to give. We see, in our humility, the beauty of what His saving grace has to offer us. We are rescued from even the belief that we needed rescue to the heightened and brightened perception of what God would have us see and do and be.

“You have not desired sacrifices, neither have you chosen burnt offerings. The sacrifices of God are a humble spirit; God does not reject a broken heart.” (Psalms 51: 16-17, Aramaic Bible in Plain English)

God’s expectations for us don’t require us to sacrifice what is good. Neither does divine Love need us to behave in certain perfect human ways, or to worship in a ritualistic way. We receive and feel God’s grace when we truly release our egos and simply turn to God with genuine trust and open hearts.

We may feel like our vulnerability in certain moments is a flaw, a reason for shame or doubt of our own worthiness. But these very times are those where God is ready to pull us into an embrace, like the Mother She is, and to wipe away our tears. When we are truly humble and seeking earnestly, even when we feel broken and low, God is ready to hush our fears and tell us why we can let them go.

God doesn’t reject our broken hearts, He repairs them. He reveals that Love and Life are not lost in time and circumstances, but available always with Him. God doesn’t ask us to be saintly mortals, untouched by any doubts or troubles. He knows us as His own children, and every humble release to our Father-Mother-Love is an occasion for us to realize this healing fact of who we are and to feel the sweet blessing this awareness brings.

“Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.” (Romans 12: 2, the Passion Translation)

Here is the recipe for a beautiful life. It isn’t one that aspires to be like the world, to try to reach some goal of human perfection or to be validated by others.

We cannot reach a truly good and right life by trying to be what the culture around us seems to tempt us to be; or, conversely, by seeing the trends and experiences of others as what we must have to be successful or popular, and yet finding these goals unreachable or even unsavory.

Instead, stop looking around you and start looking to God. He is ready to change your life from the inside out. He is ready to give you what is genuine and expansive, and what is pleasing to Him as well. God can open our spiritual eyes to what is neither satisfying or progressive for us, and instead show us how to do and be what makes our souls really sing.

And in this transforming, this revealing of our true and best selves, we can begin to live a life that is individually pleasing, but which also radiates powerfully in a world in need of light.

“Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.” (II Thessalonians 3: 16)

I like the way this verse begins. Now. This blessing is one for this moment, a prayer for us to know the peace of God immediately and always.

And there is a sweet completeness to this short benediction. We can receive this peace right away, eternally, and by all means. It can be revealed in countless ways and in all situations. We can know this divine serenity without condition or pause. And this glorious calm comes straight from God Himself.

It is divine Love’s gift, transcending the material and limited sense of goodness and reaching us in a deeper place, in a more thorough way. We can trust this holy peace and expect it. God is ever-present, so His peace is always where we are—actively, powerfully, lovingly.

And this peace is for us all. It is not a blessing only for a chosen few, but is bestowed on us all, fully, graciously, truly. Now.
