“You are my hiding place. You will keep me out of trouble and envelop me with songs that remind me I am free.” (Psalms 32: 7, the Voice Translation)

Divine Love is our secret hideaway. God’s Truth is an embracing refuge that keeps us safe, secure, serene. We have an abiding space to discover or rediscover our peace, get our bearings, and to hear the one voice that knows us truly and loves us unconditionally.

Because we are one with God, this refuge is always ours. We can rest assured that the world’s presentations, the opinions and accusations of others, even the arguments of discord in the body, can’t intrude on that sweet hiding place with God. His presence around us and in us can settle us and bring Truth to light—warm, healing, gentling, renewing.

And this holy unity with God is not only a safety from the outside world, but a rescue from ourselves, from the dangers we may put ourselves in. The sacred pause in God’s presence reminds us of who we truly are, and who we really want to be. It keeps us from getting into trouble, going against our higher nature, letting ourselves get carried away by envy, fear, selfishness, anger.

In this hidden sanctuary we are also graced with beauty and uplift. We get songs straight from Soul telling us not only that we are safe, but that we are free—free to rejoice, to laugh, to celebrate, to share with others, and to live like the harmonious children of God that we are!

“One must fulfil one’s mission without timidity or dissimulation, for to be well done, the work must be done unselfishly.” (Science and Health, page 483)

We all do have a mission. We may feel our calling is not world-changing, that what we feel led to do is small and inconsequential. But as we express our deeper intention, from a place of sincerity and honesty, all that we do is impactful beyond what we may believe.

For when we go about our work and our lives expressing God’s own qualities, and the purpose we feel in our hearts, we radiate His power and presence. This is grandeur and grace. It goes beyond mere human actions and exudes light that can uplift and inspire others because of its divine Source.

And to do our work well, is to really connect with that Source, to set aside selfish motives, fears, concern about what others will think of us, and to do what we are called to do with eagerness and humility. When we bring personal ego into a higher goal, it not only dilutes the purity of the mission, it limits its scope and ability to help, to serve, to heal, to be productive and progressive.

We have the opportunity each day to walk forward in our lives, gaining new glimpses of what is possible for us to accomplish and to see its benefits in our world.

“The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in [everything that you do]
from this time forth and forever.”
(Psalms 121: 8, Amplified Bible)

You are always safe in God’s ever-presence. Truth and Love abide with you, surround you, and live in you. You are protected on all sides and through and through by the active presence of God.

He is always right where you are, and He requires that His perfect creation is preserved, sustained, continues to express His nature and His intention. So, all that we do, everywhere we go, we are accompanied by God’s power, His assurance, His Love, His wisdom, guarding and guiding us.

When we go out—when we leave some aspect of experience for another—God goes with us and takes us into our tomorrow gently, paced for peaceful progress. So, we can enter into another endeavor, a new phase or relationship, with expectation that is free of fear or confusion. The very Mind of God, the heart of divine Love, attends us, supports us, keeps us, and comforts in each new day.

This is God’s commitment to us, today and forever. He is with us, leading and loving us every step of the way, each and every day.

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart! And the peace I give isn’t fragile like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” (John 14: 27, the Living Bible)

Accept your gift. Its Source is trustworthy. This bestowal comes from Truth and from Love. Jesus left us this powerful blessing and he described why it is one to cherish fully.

Peace is ours. Jesus taught and proved our inseparability from God, from Love, from our Father-Mother. He made it known that our lives are always safe in God’s care, that we are His children. Jesus left us with this great awareness, this fact of our being and this cause for serenity and for joy.

Peace of mind and heart are ours as we acknowledge who we truly are, and Who God is. God is Love. He is ever-present goodness. God is always where we are, and we are never separate from Him and His qualities. And we can know this. We can receive this promise and feel the calm and certainty that this brings to our minds and our hearts.

The world’s peace is based on circumstance, people, personal control, physical conditions. But this peace that Jesus left with us transcends all that. It is a spiritual peace that resonates within us, that endures in spite of the outward. It is our healing assurance from divine Love and it helps us to ease the fears of others as well.

“Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself.” (Leviticus 19: 18, New International Version)

This powerful direction is at the core of our well-being, as individuals and as a planet. If we were to fully heed this in our hearts as well as in our actions, we would have an experience that was peaceful as well as productive, progressive, satisfying.

This verse from the old testament is echoed by Jesus. It has the ring of Truth. It is so direct and clear, and yet it seems easy to forget or neglect. We find reasons to justify our grudges, our blame of others, our desire even that another suffer for a slight against us.

It isn’t that we should let bad behavior off the hook or that we ignore it. It is about what we choose to do in response. To love brings healing for ourselves as well as for another. As we use love with each other and toward each other, the hate, envy, fear, and evil activity loses power, and we find serenity as well as strength. Love is God and God is Life. To express Love is to express Life, and to feel the richness of God’s harmonious design for us all.

We truly feel better, more like ourselves, as we love one another. We can learn to forgive as we can, to let go of distrust, and to trust God to show us His better, safer, kinder, more beautiful way of Life.

“I will bless you with a future filled with hope—a future of success, not of suffering. You will turn back to me and ask for help, and I will answer your prayers.” (Jeremiah 29: 11-12, Contemporary English Version)

Our future is in the hands of the Almighty. He unfolds our next moment, our next hour, our next day and year. This is not predestination, some fate that we aren’t allowed to know, that may be either our glory or our doom. God’s assurances are based on His Principle, the spiritual reality of Life which He caused to be—good, successful, right, progressive, complete, satisfying.

We can turn back to God. We can look to Him afresh even when we may have been focused on physicality, material limits, time, age, human inadequacies. We can turn our eager faces and willing hearts each day back to our Source, to the One Who gave us Life, a Life that expresses His own immortal nature.

God is Love. We are the beloved. We can open ourselves up to hope and let that hope expand into expectation, deeper understanding, and greater vision. We can begin to realize that God has a tomorrow for us that is a revelation of eternal Life. This revealing may be fresh and surprising to us each day, but it has been completely prepared by God to show forth in us and to us the ceaseless, dynamic action of His Love.

“Everything you do is marvelously breathtaking. It simply amazes me to think about it! How thoroughly you know me, Lord! You saw who you created me to be before I became me!” (Psalms 139:14, 16, the Passion Translation)

Our Creator, our Father-Mother, has always known us. We were conceived out of God’s own Love and His own artistry. He knows us inside and out and adores what He made. And He sees you, truly, as no one else can do.

God’s whole creation is breathtaking, awesome in scope and in precision and beauty. We can look at the world’s creatures, nature, the wide expanse of the globe and of the ideas that encompass it and be filled with awe. God’s marvelous conceptions are not only glorious, they continue to reveal themselves. There is always something new to know and to see and to experience.

God knows the complete idea as well as what must be shown forth in each fresh moment of human awakening. God thoroughly knows us, not only what we feel we are now, but what we are deep within. He sees the fullness of what we have yet to realize and to perceive and to be. God knows us intimately, delights in us perpetually, and graces us each day with new opportunities to be ourselves!

“You can pass through his open gates with the password of praise. Come right into his presence with thanksgiving. Come bring your thank offering to him and affectionately bless his beautiful name!” (Psalms 100: 4, the Passion Translation)

Use your password! Get into that wonderful space of grace and goodness, contentment and joy. The gate is open to this heavenly place when we enter with praise. It’s through our celebration of God, of goodness, of Love, that we can feel that peaceful presence and safety and prosperity.

Let’s not stand outside the door, feeling locked out, or banging on it with our complaints and fears and sense of lack. Gratitude gets us in without delay. This thankfulness is our key and it fits best when we also warm it up with our affection. Resentful or obligatory thanks isn’t enough. Words without feeling, even reverence without love, can’t open our minds and hearts to the good that is ours to enjoy.

We can honor God, good, by recognizing that we do have access to all that God has. We are not separate from Life or Love or goodness. These ideas are within us and around us. As we cherish the qualities of God, claim their presence rather than arguing for their absence, our eyes are open to what is real, abundant, and rightfully ours.

Praise God Who loves you and invites you warmly in, through those open gates and into joy!

“Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Then come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis.” (Matthew 11: 28, the Passion Translation)

Your oasis isn’t a mirage. It isn’t some far off, unreachable hope. The Christ is at the ready now to refresh our lives, to lift that heavy burden, to free us and energize us.

This question is really an invitation to all of us. We are being called to our salvation, our rescue. That Christ-message of oneness with our Father-Mother is ours to accept. We can come into that divine presence and awareness, and in doing so, drop those mental and physical burdens at the feet of divine Love Herself.

And we needn’t pick up that baggage again. When we lean on infinite power, on the Almighty God, on that One Mind, on the Truth, the lies of limitation, doubt, heaviness, are annulled. We can become who we were made to be, the beloved of God, subject to His benevolent government, led by His kindness, supported by His strength.

This was Jesus’ message to us all. Come to me. Come into that saving awareness that you are not alone, small, mortal. You are God’s idea and never separate from His inspiration, His sustenance, His energy, His uplift, His sweet and tranquil oasis.

“…let the peace that comes from Christ control your thoughts. And be grateful.” (Colossians 3: 15, Contemporary English Version)

We have peace. It is always available to us, an aspect of our very being, for the Christ is ours. This true nature that Jesus so beautifully demonstrated, is always ours. The mortal thought and the world’s distractions may make us lose sight of our own ability to be serene. But we can truly claim this quality at any time.

This tranquility within is based on reality. Jesus was peaceful because he knew that God was in control, was always with him, and that this God is Love. Jesus remained undisturbed even when storms raged around him. And this quiet assurance is ours as well. As we accept this fact of being, our thoughts become clear and ordered, governed by the spiritual Truth, not the presentation of material sense and emotions.

Allow this peace to be felt within. It is God’s own presence in us, so it is powerful, authoritative, and active for good. We can let this sweetness resonate with us, bringing enlightenment and radiating that peace to the world, naturally, as well.
