“The periods of spiritual ascension are the days and seasons of Mind’s creation, in which beauty, sublimity, purity, and holiness — yea, the divine nature — appear in man and the universe never to disappear.” (Science and Health, p. 509)

What a great joy and relief it is to recognize life as spiritual progression. We may get caught up in phases of experience, where time and age seem to have control, inviting us into limitation. We may feel that the world itself is also going through transitions that are unfavorable and even destructive.

But there is another and truer story worth awakening to. It is the awareness of spiritual ascension—the seasons of God’s creating where change is evolution, growth, progress, not a tapering off, destruction, and demise. As we are receptive to this spiritual narrative, one that reveals more of God’s goodness, we begin to see this reality in our daily lives.

For the periods of eternity are not confined to days and years, to matter and its unkindness. These stages start within the boundless thought of God, and Love unfolds to us these ideas, this inspiration, the qualities of God’s divine nature, in perceivable ways. We behold healing, vitality, beauty, peace within, and feel a more genuine love for mankind.

This is ascension. It leads upward to a higher idea, one that continues to give us new views and grander possibilities each moment—today, tomorrow, forever.

Daily Inspiration, May 11th, 2021

“Look here, what’s done is done and gone. The now is new, and there’s hope in the not-yet. I will tell you what’s to come, even before the events are brand-new.” (Isaiah 42: 9, Voice Translation)

This is an assurance from God, divine Truth, of a new day full of promise. God is reminding his receptive followers of old and us today that the past is over and done and that the now is new.

And this new day also holds a message for what is to come. Our Father-Mother is the Creator, the divine Mind and Cause. And He is Love. He brings us goodness in this moment and also a hope for tomorrow. And today He begins to share to our open hearts and minds what the future holds for us. He reveals to us inspiration, insight, as well as comfort and peace, to ready us for what is to come.

Let’s release the past and be willing to hear God’s good news for today, His day. Let’s allow ourselves to be in the moment, in the new now, ready and grateful for the saving grace of God’s Love and what it can bring to our lives.

Daily Inspiration, May 6th, 2021

“When I was at my weakest, my enemies attacked—but the Lord held on to me. His love broke open the way and he brought me into a beautiful broad place. He rescued me—because his delight is in me!” (Psalms 18: 18-19, Passion Translation)

There are times when we may feel especially vulnerable. We are lost and confused, even more sensitive to the attacks of the enemy—whether that foe is a literal opponent or challenges like disease or lack.

We can listen to the humble words in this verse. The psalmist, in his weakness, is confident of one thing. God. He knows that God is holding on to him, keeping him safe in spite of the turmoil and trouble. We, too, have this protection and we also have the love that takes it all one step further.

God’s Love does not settle only for keeping us intact, unharmed. God also delivers us into something even better, a beautiful broad place—one that has room to progress and to feel free. God’s purpose for saving us is not that He is angry at us and has chosen to set that aside with an act of mercy. God is Love and He delights in us. This is why He rescues us and why we can expect His strength in our weakness and His opportunities when every door seems closed.

The Lord is holding you, and it is an embrace of pure and powerful Love!

Daily Inspiration, May 4th, 2021

“What marvelous love the Father has extended to us! Just look at it—we’re called children of God! That’s who we really are.” (I John 3: 1, the Message Bible)

We really are children of God! We are God’s offspring and the very expression of His loving purpose.

The Father-Mother has brought us into being, not as separate and mortal, but as forever connected, part of God’s immediate family, always at one with Him. We were made as proof of God’s presence and power and marvelous love! It is out of God’s Love that we were given Life, each one of us. And so, we take that glorious name—Children of God! Children of divine Life and light. Children of everlasting Spirit, which is limitless and pure and good.

We may feel that we or others are something less than this—the spawn of flawed mortals or the result of years and fears and circumstances. We may think that our personalities define us and that we compete with others for a place, for attention, for love.

But that’s not who we really are. We are beloved of God, His very own, and perfect Love plays no favorites. We are made to love and to be loved with the marvelous divine Love that is ever-present, all-encompassing, eternal, and ours to experience today.

Daily Inspiration, April 29th, 2021

“From that time many of [Jesus’] disciples went back, and walked no more with him. Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.” (John 6: 66-68)

Jesus’s teachings proved difficult for some to understand or to swallow. They found their faith in Jesus wavering and left the path on which they may have started. They returned to what they knew, to the familiar rituals and lifestyle that was less challenging to them and easier to grasp.

Jesus’s query here to his twelve apostles cited was a valid one. Seeing others turn away, he wanted to know whether these close friends and followers would do the same. Simon Peter must surely have voiced what all twelve were feeling: They did not have a choice. They must stay with Jesus.

And this decision was not one simply of loyalty. They had heard and felt the words of eternal life that Jesus spoke of and demonstrated. The compelling reality of being that they had been witnessing was not something they could forget or pretend they had never known. For how can one go back to the familiar when the Truth has been so profoundly revealed?

The apostles couldn’t give up what they had seen, and neither can we. There may be paths that seem easier, but are they, really? A simple way without any light is still difficult. And when the grand Truth is glimpsed, how can we return to the lesser and limited?

Will we go away, leave behind the influence of Love and its promise? No! Where would we go?

Daily Inspiration, April 27th, 2021

“The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.” (Isaiah 60: 19)

The light of God is brilliant, effective, and always at hand. That divine light of Life, Truth, and Love never wanes, is never distant, is never obscured. God’s light is everlasting, eternal, powerful, clear, and without opposition.

And this holy light is not like that of the sun and the moon. It is not material. It is timeless, without time. Where the sun and the moon indicate a passage of hours, days, years, God’s light has no such limitations attached to it.

The light of God is always ours and it transcends time—eradicates it, in fact—through the Truth of God’s Allness, His glorious presence that has no beginning and no end. As we reflect on and bask in this true light, we can begin to release ourselves from the beliefs of time, age, limited life and the grip of circumstance. We can realize and relish the fact that God’s light is always at hand to show us reality, harmony, the goodness that this eternal moment is ready to reveal.

Daily Inspiration, April 22nd, 2021

“Acquaint now thyself with Him, and be at peace.” (Job 22: 21)

Don’t we all seek peace in our lives and in our very being? While it may seem reliant on circumstances or on other people’s presence (or absence), true peace is available even when the outward conditions may feel noisy and chaotic.

We can take the instructions in this verse to heart and get acquainted with God. We can draw closer to Him, get to know Him better with His qualities of pure Love and infinite Life. We can come to recognize that there is one Mind in control and this Mind is wise, almighty, and kind. Getting acquainted with God is about giving up the preoccupation with persons and self, and simply, humbly, letting God do the talking. We can listen for instruction, be open to love without qualification, and just be with our Father-Mother.

In some other translations of this verse, “acquainting” oneself is rendered as surrendering, agreeing, yielding to God. It is a sweet letting go, a release to God and an agreement that He is All, He is good, and we are safe.

This brings us a sense of peace that reveals prosperity, good at hand. We give up the willful control and give ourselves willingly to God—to His purpose, and His active, intelligent, grace.

Daily Inspiration, June 15th, 2021

“Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (Matthew 11: 29-30, the Message Bible)

The Christ is calling us to be a part of a wonderful labor of love. This work is nurtured by divine Love, encouraged by it, and protected in it. When we agree to serve good, we discover a journey that comes with power and energy and brings true satisfaction.

And we can remember that doing good is not something we need to do alone. In fact, attempting to give in a willful, prideful, or uninspired way, is less productive. And it feels burdensome. But if we look to Jesus’ words and works, recognizing our own oneness with God in our unique mission, we are fruitful and unencumbered.

Instead of slogging away, we can “learn the unforced rhythms of grace.” The ego forces and judges, making for graceless steps that are often stymied in too much self-reflection. But to release ourselves to God, to trust His guidance and our own ability to hear it, is to live freely and lightly. We work with that awesome Christ-spirit, which means healing and progress, poise and peace.

Daily Inspiration, April 20th, 2021

“And those who are wise—the people of God—shall shine as brightly as the sun’s brilliance, and those who turn many to righteousness will glitter like stars forever.” (Daniel 12: 3, the Living Bible)

The people of God are those that are wise. This wisdom that shines brightly is greater, more powerful, more brilliant than the light of human knowledge and intelligence. It is that understanding that is found in a willingness to be God’s people, to yield up our egos and to humbly let Truth and Love shine forth.

This wisdom is not will but willingness. It isn’t pushing to be a star. Rather, it is knowing that all the light that we have comes from God, good, Love, so it is boundless and available. We don’t possess it, but we express it. We are the proof of God’s radiance, and as we realize this, our own individual lamps are sustained.

And as we share this light with others, the stars in our own night sky seem to multiply. One burning candle lighting another, and then another, can cause the whole room to glow. As we remember our Source, we shine more effortlessly and our light helps others to see themselves more clearly as the people of God they truly are, the very proof of divine Life and infinite Love.

Daily Inspiration, April 15th, 2021

“And we heard this voice when it came from heaven while we were with Him on the holy mountain. So we have the prophetic word strongly confirmed. You will do well to pay attention to it, as to a lamp shining in a dismal place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.” (II Peter 1: 18-19, Holman Christian Standard Bible)

Jesus’ disciples heard the confirmation of the Christ. They saw the Word of God demonstrated in the life of their Master and in his transcendence of death. They experienced a deep awareness of something greater than the worldly view of things.

And they knew that this prophesy, this spiritual sight and insight, should be heeded by all. We are being encouraged here to pay attention to the Christ, to the realization of man as the son of God, and what this means for each of us. We are all God’s children. This Truth of being is not something to wait for or to ignore. It is a light in the darkness. It is a hope that leads us out of despair, limits and lies, and into a brighter reality.

Pay attention to this light, however dim it may appear at times. Take yourself to the mountaintop, the higher perspective, where you can hear and feel the truth of God’s promises, His presence, His peace.

And as we are humbly receptive, the sunlight dawns in our lives and also in our hearts and we can genuinely share its healing warmth and enlightenment with our world as well.
