Daily Inspiration, April 22nd

“…prayer, coupled with a fervent habitual desire to know and do the will of God, will bring us into all Truth. Such a desire has little need of audible expression. It is best expressed in thought and in life.” (Science and Health, page 11)

You can pray at any time. You can make use of your genuine desire to know God better, to feel and lean on His presence, and pray with your life even when the human experience says there is not time, quiet, or room in thought for inspiration.

God knows our heart. Trust that He does and don’t qualify your prayer according to how many words you have said or read. It is the true allegiance to goodness that is a constant prayer, and it will open the way for life to show its agreement with reality, with the harmony God made and kept. It will also lead naturally to perfect opportunities for conscious communion with God, deep and thorough prayers that settle and save us.

If doing the will of God is our desire then to do this means to yield up a limited sense of how we need to get to Him, talk to Him, listen to Him. God is omniscient Love. Let Him reach you. Release yourself to His control and activity and simply live as He made you to live—as the very expression of His own goodness and the grateful object of His knowing, tender, unfailing love.

“I will save the limping [ones] and gather the outcasts and will make them a praise and a name in every land of their shame.” (Zephaniah 3: 19, Amplified Bible)

God’s all-embracing Love will not stand for limits, pain, cruelty, division, fear, and shame. This divine Love won’t let any of His ideas be hindered in their progressive way, held back from getting to their destination, from gaining a fuller understanding and awareness of His presence and power.

There are no outcasts from God’s nation. Those who are shunned by humanity’s ignorance or neglect or by their own feelings of unworthiness or failure, are not left out of God’s care, His cleansing and uplifting Life and Love. He assures that those that seem to suffer as outsiders, or those who have made mistakes, will be made to be His very praise, the bright evidence of Life. Through overcoming and through grace they will show forth even more of God’s wisdom, power, and unconditional Love for all to witness.

This promise tells us that we can’t be allowed to limp along physically or mentally. God’s powerful energy and His unhindered purpose, will always lead us forward and upward. This assurance lets us know that where we may feel the least accepted, the most shunned, the most ashamed and unloved, right there will we find that we are not only accepted, but truly appreciated, understood, and thoroughly loved.

“The image of Spirit cannot be effaced, since it is the idea of Truth and changes not, but becomes more beautifully apparent at error’s demise.” (Science and Health, page 543)

Spirit can’t be defaced or erased. Spiritual being is not available to matter and material sense to ruin it or rub it out. Spirit exists forever and is always intact. It is governed by divine Principle, that which requires all that is right to be also permanent, immutable, and whole.

You are the image of Spirit, of God. You are made up of the divine qualities of Life which don’t get damaged and have always existed. The recognition of this divine selfhood, our nature as the image of God’s wonderfulness, may seem to appear as destruction, the demise of the false sense of things. We may be witnessing the end of a sense of ourselves that we’ve become accustomed to, one that we’ve accepted as real and true and reasonable.

But this false sense of personality with a focus on mortality, time, age, environment, was never good enough for us. It needs to go down before Truth. The limits must be swallowed up in the limitless, in God’s design and in His Love. When that muddy and imperfect presentation of ourselves gets cleared off, it is only the dirt itself that goes away, nothing you really want or need or that makes you up. And then the gleaming idea that God made is right there to be seen even more beautifully, polished by inspiration and made more durable by understanding.

“And so God makes it possible for you and us to stand firmly together with Christ. God is also the one who chose us and put his Spirit in our hearts to show that we belong only to him.” (II Corinthians 1: 21-22, Contemporary English Version)

We can stand together firmly in our purpose, in our mission of life as Love. We can remember that it is not our human knowledge that makes us capable of bringing peace to the world and to ourselves. It is a gift of God. It is grace. It is a holy appointment and backed by divine authority.

You belong to God. This is an exclusive relationship. You don’t belong to material circumstances, to a physical body, or to time. You aren’t owned by a corporation or a nation or another individual. You are God’s chosen. He specifically designed you to be His own very ideal idea, to actively and accurately express His intention.

And this purpose has been put within you. It is Love and it binds you with mankind. So, while you belong to God, you are at one with all His ideas, fellow children of Spirit and of Life, and this is a firm and irreversible commitment. God’s Principle makes no exceptions and it made no mistake in choosing you, in naming you as His very own, the perfect expression of His excellence, activity, intelligence, beauty, and goodness.

Daily Inspiration, April 8th

“The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.” (Psalms 93: 4)

The cacophony of life’s troubles and distractions is no match for the silencing song of God’s powerful Love. Let’s be clear that while things may seem overwhelming in our own lives and bodies and in the world, these mighty waves of sense testimony are no match for the likes of God, the Almighty, Who is our only real Life.

Be calm and untroubled when circumstances seem out of your human control. They were never meant to be in your control. All things belong to God and He sees no challenge whatsoever to His righteousness, His design, His loving and intelligent plan for your being. God must always be glorified. It is His mandate, and so goodness must always reign true and real.

Knowing this, we can remain calm in the storms, ride out those storms, and even ride upon those waves gratefully while still being carried forward in our lives. The noise of material life and the voices of material opinions are just a whining wind with no substance or power. It is like the bluster of a pompous yet ignorant man. His voice may annoy you, but you are not even tempted to believe what he says. He just wants your attention.

Stay calm and peaceful when life tries to irk you. The gentle voice of God is more powerful than any mad rant of error, and His word is always clear, loving, infinitely wise and eternally true for you and for all.

Daily Inspiration, April 3rd

“Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.” (Jeremiah 17: 7-8)

Our stability in all times and in every circumstance is found in God. As we put our full trust in Him, we find we are not subject to the randomness of nature or the whims of mortals. Likewise, this genuine faith in God’s goodness, presence, and wisdom, frees us from worry and fear. It eases our minds and brings us peace.

How do we gain this great trust? First of all, by believing that the prophets like Jeremiah were saying it like it is. These inspired individuals spoke the Truth and shared it with mankind because it was the Truth and it was for mankind’s use. And then we deepen our faith in God’s provision and unequaled care by drawing closer to Him, by becoming better acquainted with His loving nature and unopposed power, and so coming to know even better why He is so utterly trustworthy.

Those waters, rivers, and roots that Jeremiah talks about all belong to God and are truly under His wise and exclusive control. He possesses them and they must therefore express His qualities and do so abundantly. The flourishing fields of our lives and the sustaining and cleansing waters of Love are in His hands and therefore ours to receive and utilize, to rejoice in and be grateful for.

Our faith in God and not our fear of matter gives us a great dominion over all that would come into our experience and a well-rooted stability. Our confidence in Him is our freedom, keeping us steady in the storms and sustaining us in the wilderness of doubt, darkness, and fear. Our trust in God gives us all that we need to truly thrive and as a bonus, it includes enough strength and supply that we are also able and eager to share our goodness with the world.

Daily Inspiration, April 1st

“To material sense, earth is matter; to spiritual sense, it is a compound idea.” (Science and Health, page 585)

Our earth is worthy of our love and our grateful praise. It may appear to the material senses that it is a bunch of matter taking on various forms and subject to the elements of time and climate and circumstances. These days it may appear that our earth is enduring extremes and that the end is not so far off.

But spiritual sense redefines our earth for us. This earth is not a pitiable and limited mass of matter. It is a compound spiritual idea, made of the elements and ingredients and substance of God’s design, a sphere that has no beginning or end, for it is God’s creation, the evidence of His enduring harmony and perfection.

The earth we walk upon and call our home is a limited view of the heaven that God gave us in which to dwell. The sins of sense testimony may have closed our eyes to our Eden, but that doesn’t mean that we aren’t still in it, still in God’s beautiful dwelling place, a garden of His own lovely and enduring qualities big enough for all to dwell in comfortably and meeting His standards of integrity, goodness, timeless wholeness and fruitfulness.

Let’s use our spiritual eyes and love our earth not so much because it needs our love, but because it expresses God’s Love.

Daily Inspiration, March 27th

“My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me. Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies’ sake.” (Psalms 31: 15-16)

Our lives are not in the hands of people and circumstances. Our days do not depend on the kindness of strangers nor can they be ruined by the neglect or ignorance of friends. The enemies named fear, lack, vulnerability, unkind personal opinions and behavior, can’t overpower the might of God and His mercy, His ever-present, always-active Love.

God’s face is shining upon us. Love and Life are revealing our freedom, protection, and goodness at hand. Let’s stop looking at material situations and people as our salvation or our doom. Your times are in God’s hand. Look to His benevolent nature, His Principle of justice and Truth to see the prospects for your day and for your life. The persecution we may feel at times does not disappear when we continue to empower it with our attention.

Look to God. Focus on Him and His gentle and healing promises. He is the one with the power and He is the one who has your life in His caring hands. God made you and keeps you. Every moment of your experience belongs to Him. Trust Him with your days and your nights. Let His merciful goodness show you just how safe you are. Let God’s confident assurances reveal to you today that your enemies are already conquered by the powerful fact of the infinite Allness of Love.

Daily Inspiration, March 25th

“And do not [for a moment] be frightened or intimidated in anything by your opponents and adversaries, for such [constancy and fearlessness] will be a clear sign (proof and seal) to them of [their impending] destruction, but [a sure token and evidence] of your deliverance and salvation, and that from God.” (Philippians 1: 28, Amplified Bible)

Don’t be afraid of bellowing error, the bluster of resistance to your goodness. Stay faithful to your intentions. Believe in God’s righteousness more than you fear others’ unrighteousness. Don’t let the opponents of good cause you to cower and give up. The adversaries of good are also the adversaries of God, and therefore already doomed.

God is all-powerful. You are His idea, wrapped in His care, fueled with His grace, and equipped with His weapons—your own sweet qualities, broad vision, and kindness. The very raging of your enemies–whether it takes the form of other people or of circumstances or of the mortal voice in your own head–is a sign that you are winning. The wrong sense is fighting for a life, frantically, desperately. The Truth remains confident and we remain so as well in its promise.

Your salvation is at hand and it comes not through material efforts or changes in circumstance. It comes from God, from the very Truth of you that is insisting that it be realized, seen, and expressed in this place, in you and in your life. Be calm and grateful. You can’t be intimidated. You know that with God you are not only winning, you have already won!

Daily Inspiration, March 20th

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2: 10)

God had formed us of the substance of Himself, pure goodness. We have been made to be a blessing in the world, and the Christ-Truth has revealed this natural purpose to us. Claim the fullness of your potential and your reason for being. Don’t be shy about expressing what you are and don’t hide yourself behind a bunch of lies.

You are not unworthy. That is a lie. You are not too weak or too ignorant. Those are lies. You are not too full of anger and doubt and fear. All lies. God has created you to magnify Him, to be the very glorious expression of His own being, to be good and to do good. Our omnipotent God is not opposed. The Truth of your powerful innocence is always bigger than the lie that says you are not good enough, that human mistakes or personality can somehow hide what the Almighty saw fit to make.

God has ordained us to go forth as His workmanship, His own design, and to spread the word of His goodness through the beauty of our lives. We are built to bless and be blessed. The Christ has revealed that we are indeed the children of God, of Spirit and not of matter or material sense, and therefore we are well-equipped to bring a purposeful light to the world and a smile of approval to the loving face of our Father-Mother-God.
