Daily Inspiration, April 13th

“Surprise us with love at daybreak; then we’ll skip and dance all the day long.” (Psalms 90: 14, Message Bible)

What a lovely request! And God is ready to oblige. For He is the sunshine touching our face on awaking. And this light is more than just a bright ray from above. It is the presence of Love itself, welcoming us into our day, into God’s activity and purpose.

Let’s begin our mornings with the conscious acceptance of this Love. Let’s open the shades of our minds and our hearts and let that holy sunlight burst on in, enlivening us to Truth and Life, in all its glorious promise and joy.

And with this wake-up, we can walk, then skip, then dance, all day long. For we have that vital music with us and within us, that rhythm of gratitude and grace, of praise and expectation.

Let’s also remember that we have divine permission to skip and dance all the day long. This is the right and natural activity of children, and that is who we are to God. Our Mother-Father awakes us to fresh Life, lifts us into our day with Her assurances, and sends us out to play with a loving kiss upon our heads!

Daily Inspiration, April 11th

“Nature voices natural, spiritual law and divine Love, but human belief misinterprets nature. Arctic regions, sunny tropics, giant hills, winged winds, mighty billows, verdant vales, festive flowers, and glorious heavens, — all point to Mind, the spiritual intelligence they reflect.” (Science and Health, page 240)

Look around you! There is so much beauty and goodness to see, in others and in our world. The artistry of the landscape, its diversity, majesty, and grand and unusual elements, are God’s poetry made manifest. The variety and allure of places and spaces, wildlife, even cities and their streets and architecture, point toward divinity.

We can behold with gratitude and awe our wonderful world and at the same time get a better understanding of God. For His Spirit is the Truth behind all things. As we recognize and cherish the Source which is goodness, infinite presence, and Love, we are able to experience holiness wherever we are. The qualities of God are the continuity of all that is. These qualities—grace, beauty, radiance, agility, vibrancy, endurance, etc.—are forever at hand. His precious Love brings this heaven to us in appreciable, earthly ways.

But all still points to Spirit, to God and His intelligence. These forms and their compelling characteristics, call us to wonder and to ponder, and to look into those very hearts that are touched and awed, and find God there, beautifully within us all, as well.

Daily Inspiration, April 4th

“…ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29: 13)

Aren’t we all searching, seeking after God? It may seem at times like we are just looking for peace, love, joy, comfort, health, supply, but these are all simply aspects of God, infinite good. So, whenever we seek more goodness in our lives, we are truly yearning to know more of God’s presence and action.

Finding these answers and experiencing these qualities hinges on where we look and how we go about doing it. When we look to matter to find Spirit, Truth, the aspects of Life that are powerful and enduring, we won’t find them or attain any true satisfaction. But when we turn to God, seek after Life from its very Source, we can’t fail to discover more of this Life, at its fullest, clearest, most legitimate and enduring.

And how we search for God—for these eternal attributes—is with all our hearts. We must look to the divine with devotion and with an honest intention. We can’t ask to know God’s provision and power and at the same time continue to trust others, the material picture, and ourselves, more than we do God. We have to yearn to know, to see, with a humble heart and a willingness to leave our doubts and arguments at the door, with fresh expectation.

This verse is God’s promise. Seek Him and His Life and Love, and you will find it. And the seeking itself is a promise of daily awakening, new vision, and fearless freedom revealed!

Daily Inspiration, March 30th

“Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing.” (I Peter 3: 9, New Living Translation)

What a novel concept! When we have been insulted or maligned or attacked, we retaliate with a blessing? Yes! That is the inspired advice in this verse.

And what I love about this unexpected response to evil is that it ends with a sweet promise. To bless another is to receive God’s blessing upon ourselves. And what is that blessing? I would say that it is a deep and settled and grateful understanding of Love. It is a conscious inner awareness of God’s peace within and what that means not only for us, but for those with whom we come into contact.

This blessing that we bestow is not a condoning of wrongdoing. It is, rather, the refusal to let God’s own name of Love be lost and our own values compromised, simply because someone has misbehaved or been ignorant. Our blessing is not on the evil act. It is a conscious and loving choice to recognize the Truth of God and His creation right where that devilish liar would try to cast aspersions on Him and on us. It is a magnificent opportunity to lift our thought to God, see ourselves safe in Him, and to do what we were built to do:

To Love. To seek peace. And to bring the power of God’s nature to the very place where it may be most needed and healing and right back to us as well.

Daily Inspiration, March 28th

“Behold, I am with you and will keep [careful watch over you and guard] you wherever you may go, and I will bring you back to this [promised] land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” (Genesis 28: 15, Amplified Bible)

Our life journey seems to take us all over the place and we can often feel very unsure and apprehensive. Are we heading in the right direction? Do we even know what we want to achieve? Is the expected end result worth the effort along the way?

Lay those fears and questions down at the feet of God and take His hand. Wherever we go—whether wandering or with a clear view of the path to our destination—we are being daily, hourly, in every moment, watched and guarded by our loving Father-Mother, the very Love that is our Life.

You will never be alone. You will always be accompanied by God’s power and His promise. He has made us to thrive and given each of us a special purpose to fulfill. This is not simply our aspiration. It is the Almighty’s demand. And His goodness and wisdom and love come with that intention and assure its fulfillment.

Our promised land is that pure sense of peace and home and safety and joy and life and well-being and energy and satisfaction. This state of being is in God’s sights and so are we. We won’t miss the destination. We can rest easy, because, in Truth, we are already in that promised land that is God’s own Life, approval, and abundant Love.

Daily Inspiration, March 23rd

“The continual contemplation of existence as material and corporeal — as beginning and ending, and with birth, decay, and dissolution as its component stages — hides the true and spiritual Life, and causes our standard to trail in the dust.” (Science and Health, page 550)

Continually pondering mortal life and its phases and finiteness, isn’t doing us any favors. Not only is it depressing and limiting, it also lowers our standards and diminishes our true potential and promise for living.

Life is not caged within what the physical senses perceive or what material theories would relegate it to. If we believe that it is, and accept life as within some time line of birth, growth, aging, and declining, we sell Life and ourselves very short! That grand and bright Life that God, Spirit, gave us to experience and enjoy, seems hidden from us because we are too busy looking into the tomb.

Don’t deprive the world of the light that you are by lowering your standards, staring at earth and arguing against heaven. You are more than a material time line. You are the expression of God’s own being—infinite, powerful, beautiful, wise, born out of divine Love and Truth, and you might as well begin (and continue) celebrating that magnificent reality!

Daily Inspiration, March 21st

“Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love.” (I Corinthians 13: 13, the Message Bible)

I love the adjectives associated with each of these recommended actions. Each requires that we express these virtuous qualities, but that we be sure to do them in a big and powerful way.

There is a bold commitment in these ideas that I find exciting. We are not only to have trust, but we are to have it with steadiness. We are to do it with a constancy and certainty and diligence. Whether we are always sure in each day, with its various challenges, we can have a practice of trust that is reliable. We may not know what is to come and why, but God does. This steady trust is a release to good.

And we can hope unswervingly. We can keep that hope always before us, without deciding that it doesn’t apply to us in certain circumstances. We can always hold to a belief that things can be better, that there is an answer, that healing is available and that it is ours to see and know. This kind of hope doesn’t veer off and stray when the going gets tough. It stays the course with expectation, because we believe that good is truly possible and natural.

And the best one: love extravagantly! This is most important, according to Paul, and that is because it is the most healing, most true to us, and the most full of joy. We can love extravagantly, beyond what may feel called for even, because we have so much love to give. God has built us to love, and by doing so, we find ourselves settling into who we are and thriving in this state of being and acting. Love never needs to be limited, because true Love really can’t be.

Love with grandeur, without reservation. Love God, good, with devotion. Love God’s children without judgment. Love yourself lavishly and willingly and often. Don’t hold back! There’s more than enough to give and to receive.

Daily Inspiration, March 16th

“There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us. A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.” (I Corinthians 12: 4-7, New Living Translation)

You have been given a gift. It is one that is useful, needed, and powerful. That gift is your individuality. It is that special way in which God expresses His qualities through you.

No one is alike and there is no competition. The Oneness of God as the Source of all our precious gifts, assures that all complement one another and do not compete for position or relevance or power. We are all equally necessary and equally called to utilize our special identity—that special way in which we shine—to help one another. Our gifts may include artistry, imagination, diligence, faithfulness, kindness, intuition, humor, gentleness, awareness, wisdom, grace, and we express these spiritual qualities like no one else.

Get acquainted with what makes you special and treasure it with all your heart. Give of that gift (and you likely have many!), with a trust in its potency for good. God gave you that “assignment” by making you the way He made you. And all have been given their own unique and perfect calling.

We are joined in this great work of Life and Love, and we can share freely. God, good, is working in and through us all, assuring that we all harmonize and that His own nature, Love, is seen and known on earth as it is in heaven.

Daily Inspiration, March 14th

“Little children, let us not love [merely] in theory or in speech but in deed and in truth (in practice and in sincerity).” (I John 3: 18, Amplified Bible Classic Edition)

What greater gift can we give ourselves and the world than to love in this way? Note that the passage begins by addressing us as “little children.” Isn’t this a wonderful place from which to approach our mission to love mankind openly, sincerely, and with actions that demonstrate this Love?

For to realize and utilize Love as children do, keeps it sweet, expectant, and pure. A child easily loves and is often so ready to share that affection with others. They are eager to do this without a feeling of fear, a jaded attitude, or low expectations. They are open to instruction and tend to simply enjoy the opportunity to be the very lovable and loving ideas they were caused to be.

Let’s awaken the dear children within us and let their lights shine with Love—unafraid, full of bright hope, living and giving from the heart of our being, and doing it without limit or condition. Let’s give ourselves the gift of being an active lover of mankind, a capacity that we possess so naturally. For our Father-Mother created His children to be just like Him—infinite and perfect and powerful Love!

Daily Inspiration, March 9th

“Let your gentleness be evident to all.” (Philippians 4:5, New International Version)

It may seem that we must present ourselves as powerful, in control, bold, tough, and forceful. We may feel encouraged to show how strong we are and to make our lives be about proving our abilities and our dominance. The world would seem to value this human sense of control and power as desirable and necessary.

And yet to follow this advice from Paul is so much more needed. Stop hiding your sweet selves either out of competitiveness, pressure, fear, or a sense of vulnerability. Your gentleness—that kind tender heart of yours—is not meant to be hidden. It should be in full view. Our ability to listen to others, to respond with patience and peace, is truly valuable.

And this gentleness is natural to us. It is also a way to true success. Gentleness is not timidity. It is Love, powerful Love, touching humanity with its sincere goodness, courtesy, peaceful attitude. It is conscious compassion, and this gentle thought and its genuine actions, have changed the world, as Jesus and so many other loving leaders have proved.

Don’t hide your gentleness. Use it boldly! Let it be seen and felt by all.
