“Because You, O Eternal One, thrill me with the things You have done, I will sing with joy in light of Your deeds.” (Psalms 92: 4, The Voice translation)

It’s time to sing! Yes, we can recognize and celebrate what God has done and continues to do. We can thankfully rejoice in the brilliance of the Eternal One, the Creator of heaven and earth, the Love and Life that constitutes and encompasses the universe.

Our praise of God can begin in earnest because nothing can hide from us the thrilling things that God is doing. The belief in the small and dark, limited and insignificant, can’t keep us from beholding and feeling the reality of God’s infinite nature. For one, He has caused us to be! You and I are the most exciting details of God’s creation. We are the living evidence that He is a Master and that His deeds are Life itself.

And we can remember that each time we feel and know Love, experience beauty, enlightenment, inspiration, we are knowing God’s work, His touch, His grace, His goodness, His limitless qualities made manifest here and now.

So, let’s not be silent and sober. Let’s absolutely begin the party! Let’s allow that thrill to well up within us as we sing, soar, and smile at His goodness, making it known anew by our joyful and grateful expression!

“The light of spiritual understanding gives gleams of the infinite only, even as nebulæ indicate the immensity of space.” (Science and Health, page 509)

We can’t really know humanly the full expanse of God’s Mind, His presence, His creation. We may feel that we are uncertain and confused about life, and that to understand its meaning and its Source, is completely out of reach.

But the uncontainable thought of God is actively present, and we are given wonderful glimpses of His qualities and the measure of His creativity, law, and Love. The light of spiritual understanding may feel only like a small glimmer in the dark, but we can receive these inspirations and intuitions gratefully as indicators of the fullness and grandeur of the divine.

When we view space through a telescope or even in captured images, we begin to perceive awesome and beautiful things that indicate much more. Our thought is opened to Soul’s greatness and grandeur. And while we can’t reach the ends of the infinite cosmos with our human senses, we are able to realize that there is more going on than the eye can see.

An enlightenment of thought, even in small degree, is our assurance of more. And we don’t need to know and understand the entire universe to stand in reverence of it. These small glimmers of grace and Love and power reveal an aspect of reality, and we can relish the fact that like the immensity of space, there will always be more in the next moment to discover through God’s rich revelations and the generosity of His Love!

Daily Inspiration, August 21st

“Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light.” (Micah 7: 8, New International Version)

We can rise again. We can see the light. We can do more than survive. We can overcome, progress, and prosper.

This verse is an example of not giving up. It is a man’s choice not to let the world’s challenges and maybe even his own fears and doubts, keep him down and in the dark. But the heart of this message is vital to hear. For it is not by sheer strength of will that he accomplishes this new outlook and the blessings it brings.

The Lord is his light and ours. We rise again and see clearly and with renewed expectancy and joy and gratitude, because we rely on God. Humanly, it may seem we are small and failing. But, we aren’t mere humans out on our own trying to make it, to endure, one day at a time. We are God’s own ideas and His beloved. We are one with God and have His own power, light, control, vision, and comfort at hand to rely on.

God’s Truth and Life is with us and for us. God is Love. His resources are beyond our human comprehension, but forever available, right, and healing.

We may fall, but God will lift us up. We may be fearful and confused and depressed, but God will brighten our hearts, clear our thinking, and show us the way of His lively and lovely Life.

“God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.” (Hebrews 6: 10, New International Version)

Keep on being the light that you are. Continue to nurture and utilize that right desire within to help others, to do good, and to show your love for God in doing this.

For our love expressed toward our brothers and sisters, in both thought and deed, honors God Who is Love itself. By our compassion, kindness, respect, caring, conscious awareness of others, we are the living proof of God and His intention.

Love is His nature and so it is also ours. We are equipped naturally with this love and we have more than enough to share with others, in varied and effective ways, and to keep ourselves feeling safe and cared for as well. God’s Love is forever with us, in us, and for us.

And this Love is just. It doesn’t require that we suffer for others or for goodness. This justice means that we, too, are embraced in God’s great Love, provided with all that is needed to do God’s work and to feel at peace, provided for, and happy as well.

“Divinity is always ready. Semper paratus is Truth’s motto.” (Science and Health, page 458)

Are you ready? Do you feel prepared to take that next step? Do you feel sufficiently geared up for something new? Are you open to change, to inspiration, to experiences that may call you or for which your participation is required?

Yes, you are! We can know that while we may not always feel we humanly have what it takes, or that we don’t have it yet, this is not an impediment to our progress and achievement. Because there is one important thing that we are always fully equipped with:

We are always supplied with the qualities of God at hand and for us. Divinity is always ready. Spirit is ever-present, its nature always active and available. Our reliance is our readiness. Our trust is our empowerment. Our willingness is our sufficiency in all things that God has called us to do and see and be.

You are ready because God is ready, and He is with you and for you. Be poised for glory and goodness. It’s time!

Daily Inspiration, August 9th

“Faith…is a chrysalis state of human thought, in which spiritual evidence, contradicting the testimony of material sense, begins to appear, and Truth, the ever-present, is becoming understood.”  (Science and Health, page 297)

Faith can seem to be an intangible ideal, something which we may wish for but feel we don’t have. Or it may be a quality that can seem to deny what may feel wise to our material sense of things.

But the definition in this passage invites us all in to appreciate and enjoy faith’s importance and its naturalness to each of us. For the chrysalis state of a butterfly is a necessary part of its growth and readying. It is that place where things happen, not by the creature’s own doing, but because it simply must.

So, faith is this state of human thought. It is that place where we simply can no longer rely on or feel complete or safe or fearless based on what the senses present. It is a place of gestation, where human thought expands, but not by its own processes of education or information. It is that space where we simply are awake to what’s next.

Just like that moth or butterfly, we are beginning to grow from the limited and earthbound to the winged and free. We begin to become aware that the qualities of Spirit, of Truth and Love, are more reliably sound and worthy and trustworthy than the world around us.

And this readiness to believe is all that we need. Receptivity. Willingness to move to the next phase of life’s promises, to be open to experience the skies of reality, and get some perspective on the earth from above its confines and limits. It is to begin to see what has always been there, with fresh eyes and a new and higher view.

Daily Inspiration, August 7th

“…in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,” (I Peter 3: 15, English Standard Version)

This is a perfect recipe for a practice that brings individual contentment as well as healing to others. This is in-reach and outreach at its very best.

We begin with our own relationship with God. We consciously recognize and get better acquainted with our Father-Mother and with the Christ-Truth, that ever-active expression of His presence with us. We let Love settle into our hearts. We cherish this dynamic power and know its Source. We honor God as the One and Only, and we are honestly grateful.

Having this pure awareness of God, we are always ready and eager to share the reason for our joy, our hope, our trust. The Love for God within us yearns to be known. So, we are prepared to declare, from our hearts, what we feel and why.

And if we truly know this Christ, this universal Love that is with all mankind, then we are not forceful or arrogant about sharing. We don’t make assumptions about another’s understanding. The Christ within that we accept and adore, finds natural action as we gently and respectfully spread the good news and join others in this universal healing cause.

Daily Inspiration, August 2nd

“I will comfort you there as a little one is comforted by its mother.” (Isaiah 66: 13, The Living Bible)

We may feel like mature adults, with wisdom and experience and responsibility. We are here to tend to our young ones and to help others around us. Our job is to be the caretaker, the worker, the one strong and in control.

But God sees you in a different way. God knows that She is the Mother and Father of you. You are the child. You will always be the child. Just as you aren’t the Creator of the universe, neither are you its Parent. That’s God’s place.

And there will be times, perhaps, when you are more in need of comfort than any dear baby might be. You may not be humanly innocent and uneducated, but you are a pure little one to divine Love. And this ever-available Mother is ready to love away those cares, wipe away any tears, assure as well as instruct.

So, sink yourself into the arms of God, without guilt or apology. You are never too grown up for God’s Love, for the Mother’s tender caring of Her own child. We can be willing to be this child and to receive this gentle comfort and its powerful results. For the love of the Mother is not just a nice feeling to receive, it is renewing, energizing, healing, restoring, and it is abundant for sharing with others as well.

Daily Inspiration, July 31st

“We must look where we would walk, and we must act as possessing all power from Him in whom we have our being.” (Science and Health, page 264)

Keep your focus on what matters. Be clear on what you aspire to do and to see and to be. God reveals this right intention to you. Listen to it. With sincerity and an honest motive, take each step forward in the light He provides.

It’s easy to get distracted from God’s higher purpose, the one that is about expanding our sense of Life and about knowing and sharing His qualities more fully and freely. We can look at various human exploits and activities as being of prime importance, and they can lead us off in directions that don’t truly serve that deeper, more important plan for us.

This is not a reason for distress. If we are awake to it, we can align ourselves with God’s vision and redirect our own focus whenever possible. For, this directed line of Life is what is true success and real satisfaction.

And when we choose to walk this path of goodness, of righteousness, as the true children of God we are, we can surely act like it. We can recognize that our high goals come with God’s power behind them. We can claim that conviction, that spiritual confidence that allows us not only to aspire to great things that please God, but to achieve them both timely and naturally.

Daily Inspiration, July 26th

“I am sure that nothing can separate us from God’s love—not life or death, not angels or spirits, not the present or the future, and not powers above or powers below. Nothing in all creation can separate us from God’s love for us in Christ Jesus our Lord!” (Romans 8: 38-39, Contemporary English Version)

Paul was convinced. He was absolutely positive of the truth in the words of this passage. God’s Love is always with us. We can’t lose its presence, escape its influence, or pass out of its tender power.

Paul wasn’t being a Pollyanna. He wasn’t putting on a happy face and saying everything would turn out okay. Paul had been through the very things that might seem to separate one from God, from good, from Truth. He had been a persecutor of others and was persecuted himself, suffered many challenges, both from the world and from within his own thought.

But Paul knew the Christ. He had experienced the Truth of man’s genuine oneness with God, that pure relationship that Jesus demonstrated so beautifully for us all. Paul recognized that while the seeming powers of the world and the presentations of the material senses would try to convince us otherwise, our connection to Spirit was absolutely a solid certainty. It was the changeless constant on which he could always rely. And so can we.

Let’s trust this Truth. It may seem like things loom in the future to fear, or that other people or governments or circumstances can rob us of Love’s presence, but this is never, ever true. God’s Love is always with us, and often even more tangibly when we are feeling beyond human help. This powerful divine Love is right where we are, and always has been—ready, full, tender, strong, and ours to feel and know.
