“Cause me to hear Your loving-kindness in the morning, for on You do I lean and in You do I trust. Cause me to know the way wherein I should walk, for I lift up my inner self to You.” (Psalms 143: 8, Amplified Bible, Classic Edition)

Let’s awaken to God’s loving-kindness. Let’s be eager and ready to feel the power and tenderness of God’s Love as we start each day.

It can seem natural to wake up thinking about our plans for our day, beginning with our worries, fears, and perhaps at times a sense of apathy. We may find it difficult to get going or feel pessimistic about what the day might bring or what our world seems to confront us with.

But we can do as this verse reminds us. We can pray to feel and know God’s loving-kindness, first thing. We can shut off the ego’s ruminating and predicting, and instead trust in God, lean into His Truth—the goodness and blessings that He has intended for us in this and every day.

Instead of bringing ourselves down or letting others bring us down, we can lift up our inner self to God. We can let our heart—the true place of joy and trust and peace and completeness within us—be uplifted to where they belong. For we are one with God, and we can always choose to recognize this.

Lifting ourselves out of the bed of despair and limits and into God’s holy purpose and love, we can walk into our day, following God’s lead. We can be expectant of healing, peace, new adventures, fresh inspiration, and a day and a life that is full of the lightness, the energy, the beauty of God’s glorious light.

“I tell you now to live the way God’s people should live.Always be humble and gentle. Be patient and accept each other with love. You are joined together with peace through the Spirit. Do all you can to continue together in this way. Let peace hold you together.” (Ephesians 4: 1-3, International Children’s Bible)

Let peace hold you together. What a beautiful thought. And where does this peace come from? Is it something we must fabricate and manipulate? Is it merely a lovely ideal that has no foundation and substance?

Peace is an everlasting, ever-present quality of God. It is more than mere quietness or a lessening of tensions. It is divine Love’s contentment, God’s self-sustaining harmony. Peace is the true state of God’s creation, for we were not made to feud or fear. God made us to express His own goodness and light and Love. And these holy qualities do not fight. They simply exist, shine, naturally prove and promote peace.

So, we can turn to God to discover that natural peace and utilize what is within us by behaving with love as our motive and as our method. We are all joined together by this mighty, gentle force. Let’s be humble enough to accept it, kind enough to express it, and patient enough to stay calm and confident as this Truth finds its way into all hearts and holds us together in its great embrace.

“To calculate one’s life-prospects from a material basis, would infringe upon spiritual law and misguide human hope.” (Science and Health, p. 319)

How much time do we spend trying to figure out the details of our future, calculating what must come next based on the factors of time and human opinion? We find ourselves preoccupied with working things out looking at variables, pros and cons, and deciding whether or not we get to live lives of joy, meaning, light, freshness, based on these calculations.

While we may feel we are rigorous in our preparations and that our conclusions are conclusive, we are limiting our lives and their prospects when our planning is focused on imperfect information, factoring in negative beliefs and allowing them to lead us to unnecessary despair.

Spiritual law takes a more objective approach. This invariable law opens wide the door of hope and promise, revealing that God is in control of our lives, and His expectations for us are according to the measure of His own glory and goodness. God’s Life is expressed by us. How can it be small and based in something as fleeting and false as time and matter?

Let’s stop assessing our lives now or predicting our futures using a flawed and unkind methodology. Instead, let’s turn to God and let Him tell us of our grandeur, our expansive lives, where anything is possible, and where pure Love is the law of Life.

“All the varied expressions of God reflect health, holiness, immortality—infinite Life, Truth, and Love.” (Science and Health, p. 518)

Yes, God’s expression, His creations are varied. God’s ideas are diverse, each singular and special. Yet each is the full and complete reflection of all that He is, all that He has.

We can celebrate our variety, our uniqueness. We can look to nature to discover even more about God’s beauty and creativity. God’s qualities are to be seen everywhere, in everything that He has made. We can utilize our spiritual senses to see through the illusion of vulnerability and limitation and bear witness to the true grandeur of all.

No idea of God can lack in any of His holy traits. Every living thing is the proof of all that God is. No matter our physical differences, each one of us reflects the fullness of God’s wholeness and holiness. We are evidence of the Life that is good and the Love that is infinite and perfect.

Let’s see ourselves as we truly are—beautiful, complete, glorious. Let’s know that all, with no exceptions, are equally blessed as the beloved and radiant emanations of God’s presence and Love.

“If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him.” (James 1: 5, Amplified Bible)

We all need guidance at times. We may think it’s up to us to make the right choices, to think through and work out what is right in each circumstance.

But we don’t have to count on our own smarts or experience in times of change, crisis, or doubt. We can always turn to God with humble expectation. Not knowing what is next or right to think or do is not a crime, nor is it a sign that we lack in some necessary quality. God’s wisdom is above and beyond what we may see and know, and it is always at hand for us.

And this wisdom and light, inspiration and comfort, come with the fullness of God’s love. God does not judge us if we have strayed along the way or delayed in turning toward Him for help. God does not give us only so many opportunities to receive grace and understanding.

God is Love. He does not blame us, shame us, or punish us. He is always ready—like the loving Father-Mother He is—to show us how to go, when, and even why. Let’s not be timid or hesitant. Let’s go to God for answers. Let’s be wise enough to listen and follow.

“God reminds us, I heard your call in the nick of time; The day you needed me, I was there to help. Well, now is the right time to listen, the day to be helped. Don’t put it off.” (II Corinthians 6: 2, the Message)

God has been with us in the past, during times of trouble and doubt and fear. We can reflect on these occasions when we were rescued, heard, inspired, uplifted, just in time. We can remember that God has always been near and has led us in right ways, awakened us from confusion and despair, and brought us renewal and fresh understanding.

God is with us today. Let’s listen and allow ourselves to be helped again. Let’s not put off our salvation by trying to go it alone or look for human opinions to tell us what to do, how to think, who to be.

God has been faithfully with us from the beginning. We are His beloved ones. Why put off feeling this? Why delay in gaining the Truth that is ready to set us free. Today. Right now.

Let’s listen with expectation and follow with grateful joy. Our help is at hand, no matter what the concerns of the day. God hears us. Are we listening for His answers? Are we ready for His Love? Yes!

“If you are really wise, you’ll think this over—it’s time you appreciated God’s deep love.” (Psalms 108: 43, the Message)

Let’s be truly wise. Let’s utilize the gift of awareness and inspiration that God has given us, and let’s wake up to our blessings.

Take a moment to set aside all your human judgments of life and self and physicality and come to really appreciate the presence and power of God’s love—God’s deep love, as this translation describes it.

It’s time. It’s always a good time to wake up to the treasure of God’s affection. This Love is deep within us. It gets to the heart of all that we are and all that we do. The Love of God meets our needs because its depth and devotion mean we are never alone. All that God has is ours—His Truth, His Life, His intelligence, His goodness, His joys, His discernment, His energy.

Let’s not put off our gratitude for God’s Love. This divine Love is the Source of all the love there is, all that we can experience and express. Let’s feel and cherish the Love of God consciously. We deserve it and it is plentiful, so let’s receive it and accept it. This is wisdom. This is peace.

“The God Who lives forever is your safe place. His arms are always under you.” (Deuteronomy 33: 27, New Life Version)

It has become quite common to hear talk these days of individuals needing to find and to feel their safe space. People feel that they are vulnerable in certain environments or that they are sensitive to others’ behavior that they believe can harm them.

But we truly are always held in safety, for our God’s arms are always around us—embracing us, as well as under us, keeping us from falling into fear, anger, or despair. We are secure in the awareness that we are all One in God and that His presence is everywhere—completely, consciously, presently. There is no circumstance where we are without God’s caring love, and His Love lives forever in us and with us.

Let’s recognize that we are not at the mercy of situations or of worldly thinking and paranoia. We are in the space of God’s clear vision of things, His awareness of us as His beloved and of the universe under His benevolent, harmonious control.

We are forever safe in God’s omnipresent, yet intimate, Life, Truth, and Love.

“We will show mercy to the poor and not miss an opportunity to do acts of kindness for others, for these are the true sacrifices that delight God’s heart.” (Hebrews 13:16, the Passion Translation)

Let’s willingly and even eagerly make some sacrifices. Let’s be ready to give up a sense of ourselves as all-important, or as needy, or as isolated beings with no purpose beyond our own survival.

We were made of God’s Love, and to feel and utilize this abundant Love is to serve God rightly. All we sacrifice is a false sense of ourselves, one that is stingy or selfish or fearful, based on a merely material view of life and what it has to offer. We have so much to give, and as we sacrifice a belief in limitation—limited time and limited resources—we have glorious and frequent opportunities to do good for our fellowman.

Let’s make it a practice to be merciful toward others. This means that we spend less time holding grudges and being defensive and more time allowing forgiveness and respect and Christly love to be felt and expressed in us. Let’s never miss an opportunity to be kind.

These occasions to bless another are numerous. We can be alert and ready. We can sacrifice a preoccupation with self and be fully occupied with doing the beautiful, constructive, inspiring work of Love.

“And then let the beauty and grace of the Lord—our God—rest upon us and bring success to all we do; yes, bring success to all we do!” (Psalms 90: 17, the Voice)

Amen to beauty and grace! Willingly, humbly, gratefully allow these infinite yet so precise qualities of God to enter your hearts and transform your experience.

God’s perfect and loving actions toward us are pauseless and powerful. His affection and guidance, control and artistry are always at hand to show us how to walk through our lives and to make His glory known through what we do.

We can look to God with trust and eager anticipation. Our success is contingent on God, and this is our joy! For God knows how capable we are, how naturally we reflect His intelligence, strength, and creativity. He is ready to show us what is possible and to bring true success to our lives—to all that we do, whether grand endeavors or daily tasks.

And His beauty and grace are the success that we seek. They define success more than money and accolades. To feel God’s loveliness and active goodness in our activities is true success. We feel contentment when we work with God, in alignment with His intention and reliant on Him. We feel free to flourish naturally and to be eager and ready to utilize more of God’s blessings in the days ahead.
