“Come, let’s climb God’s Mountain, go to the House of the God of Jacob. He’ll show us the way he works so we can live the way we’re made.” (Isaiah 2:3 The Message)
Now, this sounds like an invitation for a real adventure! It’s a call to ascend to a place of higher understanding, to reach a vantage point that is more expansive as well as peaceful and satisfying.
This journey to an uplifted perspective is not one that puts us in danger. Neither are we being led to some ethereal ideal that holds no relevance for our earthy needs, our day-to-day experience. We are being called to listen, step by step, and to learn who we really are. The upward way is the way that leads us home. With this devotion to the cause of spiritual growth, we discover our most natural selves.
This awareness—lifted above the mesmerizing picture of limited life in matter—brings meaning and joy to every day. We lose the egotistical sense of ourselves and the burden of control, for the freedom that is found in “the House of the God of Jacob”—in that true understanding that we are children of God, of Truth and Love, not mere mortals living in fear and finiteness.
Let’s agree to embark on this wonderful experience. Let’s let God lift us up, moment by moment, and enjoy the changing view that comes from progressively, gently, seeing the world and ourselves in the infinite glow of God’s light.
