“Individuals are consistent who, watching and praying, can ‘run, and not be weary; . . . walk, and not faint,’ who gain good rapidly and hold their position, or attain slowly and yield not to discouragement.” (Science and Health, p. 254)
We can be consistent. We can stay faithful and firm in our convictions about what we are pursuing. We can, in essence, be true to ourselves as ideas of God meant to grow in understanding, in devotion, in grace.
There is no one necessary end, no perfect goal, that we must achieve in record time. Our seeking and listening, learning and progressing, is an ongoing activity. Our adventure of discovery continues. There will be times when we feel we are in a good place, inspired and happy, purposeful and free. At other times, we may feel uncertain or confused, needing more time and space to figure things out.
There is no wrong or right way to gain the good, the awareness of God, that He would have us see and know and feel. It isn’t a race that we are competing in. It is watching and praying, with Love embracing and guiding us, and staying focused as much as we can on learning better who we truly are—the beloved of God.
We may have to slow down and relearn some things. Or we may have days or years that feel charged with energy and authority. It’s all part of our individual journey and we can cherish it, whether it’s a sprint or an amble. You are on Life’s right path. Take your time and enjoy the view.
