“Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them.” (Romans 12: 6, English Standard Version)

Yes, let’s use the gifts we are given. And let’s begin by recognizing those talents and qualities and especially their Source.

God is expressing Himself through each of us. His Truth, Life, and Love are seen and felt through His ideas, in fresh ways, in each moment. Divine Mind’s infinitude means what He reveals of His own nature, His own active and meaningful thoughts, goes on forever and is special and diverse and always new.

God has bestowed us with His grace—His unconditional, benevolent, Love. We are naturally and necessarily both the recipients of this Love and the way in which He brings this Love to light. How we live and give makes God known. It inspires and uplifts, comforts and calms, makes peace and harmonizes all.

Let’s remember that our special traits and capacities, our aptitudes and creativity, come from God. They are meant to be utilized, as we are led, and they are richer and more important than we may view them to be. These gifts are not only those visible talents that the world may name and admire. They are also quiet yet magnificent things like kindness, patience, respect, non-judgmentalism, humor, order, fortitude.

We have varied gifts. God, the Source, knows what they are. We can joyously use these gifts in individual ways, and at the same time naturally collaborate with our brothers and sisters to make the world, our world, a better, a more beautiful place.
