“If a man says, ‘I love God’ and hates his brother, he is a liar. For if he does not love the brother before his eyes how can he love the one beyond his sight?” (I John 4: 20, JB Phillips New Testament)

Don’t be a liar. Love for God is not truly love if it excludes His creation, those whom He has brought into our experience. To hate anyone, is to dishonor God, for God is Love itself. He includes no hatred, no evil, and made nothing inferior to scorn or put down.

To love God, good, and to worship Him honestly, we must love others. We can begin by recognizing that these individuals are fellow children of God. They are truly our brothers and sisters, born of the same divine Father-Mother, made to express His own qualities and equally loved by Him. We can recognize that our own fears and limited perspectives are not excuses for hate, nor do they bring forth wise or helpful actions.

When we love God truly, we feel His Love as well. Harboring hatred toward others in our hearts limits the fullness of God’s love in us, His Truth and Life in us. Hatred is a killer. It can incite actions that hurt another, and it is also harmful to those who harbor the hatred. What is not Love deprives one of power, peace, and joy.

Let’s be true to God. Let’s consciously learn to give up hatred (malice, spite, revenge, envy, prejudice, false judgment) and to relish the opportunity to love one another and to see just how wonderful and freeing that feels!

“For out of His fullness [the superabundance of His grace and truth] we have all received grace upon grace [spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heaped upon gift].” (John 1: 16, Amplified Bible)

This is a promise of abundance without end. We can agree to this Truth and receive the richness of the blessing it bestows on each of us.

God is All and He is Love. His goodness knows no boundary, no limitation. God’s fullness never loses a single quality nor the ability to express it in every place, intentionally, for us. Superabundance means more than sufficient supply. God’s grace and Truth overflows and we must be the willing recipients.

We are not living in the poverty of joyless experiences or meagerness of good. We have been given one spiritual blessing after another. Let’s open our eyes and our hearts to recognize and cherish the gifts that keep on coming to us. We are being daily bestowed with fresh views of Life and of Love. Each moment provides an opportunity to feel God’s Love wash over us and to share this Love with others.

God’s fullness is not static. It is living, giving, constantly blessing us day after day, moment by moment. Receive, believe, rejoice!

“See what kind of love the Father has given us: We are called God’s children—and that is what we are!”  (I John 3: 1, International Standard Version)

Let’s know ourselves rightly. Let’s realize that our identity is beyond our human personality and physicality. We are not children of the world, but God’s own children. We are blessed with all that God has to give and we have a legitimate right to know this and feel it.

It is God’s Love that has made us, and because of His Love we remain His own, the very natural and necessary objects and expressions of His divine affection. God is our Father, and we are His adored ones, made to reflect His own qualities, His glorious nature and immortal being.

We carry on God’s legacy by being true to who we really are. We can claim our holy heritage and act in accord with this Truth. We can humbly and gratefully recognize and celebrate God’s Life-giving Love for us and share it with others freely and without reservation.

Let’s rejoice that we are not vulnerable mortals despite what we may have been told. We know better. God has named us as His own—His offspring and delight, the children of divine Love.

“Run away from youthful desires. Instead, direct your passion to chasing after righteousness, faithfulness, love, and peace, along with those who call upon the Lord with pure hearts.” (II Timothy 2: 22, The Voice Translation)

Our youthful desires may have felt worthwhile. We may have fed those wants or perhaps they still seem unfulfilled. We may believe those passions within us are what make us feel vital and alive, that they are what bring us joy.

But we can take that fire we all still have, that true passion that can’t be burned out, and direct it toward what is really healing and impactful, what serves others and inspires and uplifts us as well.

We can stop chasing after or mourning over personal goals; we can give up that drive to achieve or to have, and instead focus on giving. We can make a practice of deepening our understanding of what is truly right and good. We can seek to discover more about Love—how to feel it within and to share it without neediness or fear.

It starts with a pure heart. We can release what we think we are—what we believe makes us valid in the world or to ourselves—and let the passion that is God’s own light in us lead us into new possibilities. We can exchange the ego’s desires for our true divine purpose—to humbly listen, to grow in grace, and to live with a passionate love for God, good, and for our fellow man.

“I will bless you with a future filled with hope—a future of success, not of suffering. You will turn back to me and ask for help, and I will answer your prayers.” (Jeremiah 29: 11-12, Contemporary English Version)

Turn to God and away from fear. Seek out His Word and hear His promise for you. Don’t let the world describe your life and its prospects to you. Let God show you the Truth and rest in that now, this day.

Your future is not in the hands of fate, and it does not require decline or suffering. God has your life, and He is boundless goodness and Love. He is your Father and Mother, demanding the best for you now and for all your days. We can turn from the mesmerizing belief in limitation and back toward God and His limitless good.

Our desires may seem thwarted at times, but our hopes can broaden in God’s hands. We can let go of the human outline for our lives and let God show us what He has in store—peace and progress according to His purpose. We can let go of the ego that tries and often fails to find satisfaction and joy. We can humbly ask for help—pray to have our hope renewed and our eyes opened to what God has intended for us.

And so, we discover and experience His rich blessings that meet our needs fully and bring us a genuine sense of meaning and freedom and true success.

“Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.” (Isaiah 54: 4)

Let go of the shame. Stop the judgment of your past with its human mistakes and detours. The feelings of blame, doubt, discouragement, and the imprint of yesterday, can be released.

We can let the cleansing begin. We can accept God’s tender promise and stop being ashamed. We can give up the analyzing and ruminating. We can stop being afraid that we will fall again, lose, that we are not worthy, that we are stained or broken.

Shame is a devilish suggestion. It denies God and His child—that child that you always remain, the one that God created and adores. God has made us to express His purity, His forever-fresh Life. We are made perpetually deserving of His Love. We can reclaim our innocence and let God show us who we are and have always truly been.

Today is bright with opportunities. We can give up the shroud of shame, release the loss and fear, and enter the day with a fresh outlook and with new ways to bless and to be blessed.

“My brothers, I do not consider myself to have fully grasped it even now. But I do concentrate on this: I leave the past behind and with hands outstretched to whatever lies ahead I go straight for the goal—my reward the honour of being called by God in Christ.” (Philippians 3: 13-14, JB Phillips New Testament)

Let’s stretch our hands out to what lies ahead. Let’s relax our grip on the past, the limiting, the mistakes and fears of yesterday. Let’s change our focus. Let’s look forward with expectation, relishing what God has in store for us.

We are being called to progress. We may not know all the answers and we can’t humanly discern the details of the future. But we can know what we do know, what is true: we are called to be and do good, and God made us capable of it. The Christ has revealed this certainty to us and is our faithful and powerful companion each step of the way.

Our objective is not to achieve a particular end, a specific human accomplishment. The goal that Paul speaks of and that we can embrace, is the reward of knowing that we are called—that we are enabled and empowered by God to be representatives of His purpose, to share His qualities of goodness, light, and love with the world.

This is an honor that we can gratefully claim. We can naturally advance in our days and years with outstretched giving hands, and open receptive hearts.

“Then your salvation will come like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. Your godliness will lead you forward, and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind.” (Isaiah 58: 8, New Living Translation)

This verse encourages us to trust and be expectant. It is about surrendering will and ego and worry to God’s goodness, His saving grace. A release of doubt and fear and human outlining, allows the light of inspiration to break, just as the dawn, with healing and comfort as a natural result.

Progress comes as we allow our godliness to lead us forward. When we recognize our innocence, our worthiness, our goodness, our perfection—our true nature as children of God—we are guided out of troubles and fears and into freedom and peace.

As we allow this Truth to move us forward, we are naturally protected. We can look behind us and see God’s glory touching our lives, rather than dwelling on a past of loss and mistakes and carrying those troubles into our fresh new day.

God has us covered. He walks with us, and His light is in us. We can trust His Love to save and heal us. Quickly. Today.

“If we live by the [Holy] Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit…Let us not become vainglorious and self-conceited, competitive and challenging and provoking and irritating to one another, envying and being jealous of one another.” (Galatians 5: 25-26, Amplified Bible Classic Edition)

Let’s act in a manner that corresponds with our true nature. Let’s think and behave in a way that brings to the world our light, that Holy Spirit that is with us and within us.

We can honor the Truth of Life as Love, the powerful reality of our being that is greater than ego and physicality. Let’s walk in this divine radiance, behaving in a way that dignifies us and our true purpose—one that is constructive, loving, progressive, impactful.

It can be tempting, often in subtle ways, to succumb to envy and competitiveness, blame and argument. We can even feel that it is our right and necessity to defend what we believe through means that undercut our higher intentions. We may be led away from the kinder and happier way by allowing ourselves to forget the gift of goodness that God has given us, and how this gift must unite and not divide.

The Holy Spirit is always calling us to harmonize with others, to give up the selfishness that engenders fear and divisiveness, and to walk in the powerful and productive and much more natural way of Love.

“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us hold on to grace. By it, we may serve God acceptably, with reverence and awe.” (Hebrews 12: 28, Holman Christian Standard Bible)

We have a holy place, a state of thought and of being that is unshakeable. This great kingdom is a habitation of Soul, a dwelling place with God, where we are safe, immortal, loved.

This is a permanent and present condition. The world around us may seem limited and confusing, vulnerable and unsound. But we have the Truth, the good news. We can allow grace to take us home to what is real and enduring. We can awaken to and accept the gift of awareness, the consciousness that we are children of God; that we are not temporary residents of mortal life, but eternal expressions of the divine Life.

As we recognize our spiritual identity, we can wake from gloom and fear to a greater sense of our purpose. We have so much to give. We are built of goodness and light. We are full of God’s Love, ready to be expressed in the world, for the good of others.

With awe and reverence, we can feel God’s presence with us here and now. We can humbly yield to the gift of today with its promises of glory tomorrow.
