“Out of my deep anguish and pain I prayed, and God, you helped me as a father. You came to my rescue and broke open the way into a beautiful and broad place.” (Psalms 118: 5, the Passion Translation)

We can turn to God as children when our struggles seem difficult, even insurmountable. We can release ourselves to God’s tenderness when we feel incapable of clarity or peace. God, divine Love, helps us as a father. God comes to us as little ones whom He loves, and guides us, teaches us, carries us home.

We may feel we have sought too long or are lost or cynical or unworthy. But we can remember that our Father-Mother only sees His children who have come to Him with earnest desire. Our divine Parent wants us to thrive and to see our own potential, our possibilities, our value.

With each challenge, God reveals new insights, shows us new strengths, provides us new opportunities to live and to give. We see, in our humility, the beauty of what His saving grace has to offer us. We are rescued from even the belief that we needed rescue to the heightened and brightened perception of what God would have us see and do and be.
