“…guard what God has placed in your care! Don’t pay any attention to that godless and stupid talk that sounds smart but really isn’t. Some people have even lost their faith by believing this talk.” (I Timothy 6: 20-21, Contemporary English Version)

We’ve been given a treasure. We have been blessed with the Truth of Life and of Love. We have in our hearts the rich understanding that God is good, and that Love is power. This consciousness of God as All and in all, grants us access to the healing Truth for ourselves and for others.

This awareness needs to be protected. We must be careful not to let ourselves be drawn into ideas and conversations that sully and belittle this precious gem. It’s easy to get caught up in misery and sympathy with trouble. It seems tempting at times to think that the downward and dark talk is intelligent and worth our time and attention. We may begin to believe that our reality is this picture of fear, despair, or behavior that is base and immoral.

But, let’s trust that heart that responds to the goodness, the Love, the Truth of God and man. Let’s remember the Christ-message that resonates with us deeply, that tells us that we are all children of Life and made to love purely and gratefully.

Don’t listen to stupid talk! Be smart! Listen to God!

“Man’s individuality is not material.” (Science and Health, page 285)

Who am I? What is it that makes me special? What defines my individuality and sets me apart?

We may believe the answer to these questions is about our physical appearance and characteristics. We might identify with certain personality traits or life experiences, ancestry, heredity. We may think of ourselves as being one type of person, having a certain temperament. Perhaps we associate ourselves with race, gender, or cultural or religious upbringing or preferences.

While all these things may seem to play a part in how we appear to others and act in the world, these are not our true individuality. That specific nature is much greater and more beautiful and precious and unique than a mere material description could ever provide.

Our individuality is spiritual. We are built of God’s qualities, expressed in a way that is unlike any other, and which is untouched by material conditions or classifications. Our glorious identity is what God sees of us and how He sees it. We are His delight and there is no definition of us that can be confined to a mere material depiction. Your spiritual individuality is that immortal nature that is made of the colors of divine Life, the textures of infinite Spirit, the glory of Love’s joy revealed.

Get to know who you are. Look to God for His gorgeous portrait of you. Look away from matter to Spirit, to that higher perspective, and you will find a truer individuality, one that is unlike any other and that feels genuine, comfortable, real, right, expansive, and natural.

“…live in a way that is worthy of the people God has chosen to be his own. Try your best to let God’s Spirit keep your hearts united. Do this by living at peace.” (Ephesians 4: 1, 3, Contemporary English Version)

The way we live matters. If we truly believe in God and His goodness, and in the inspired ideas that are Truth to us, then we need to act in accord with that.

For we are the chosen. God did indeed make each one of us as His own, His idea, one that was formed to express His precise and wonderful intention, and to beautifully harmonize with His whole creation as well.

It isn’t always easy to be our best, our truest selves, but we absolutely must try! And this effort is not merely about personal behavioral changes. It isn’t about willing ourselves to by humanly nice people. It is about yielding willingly to that Spirit within, that natural impulse in our hearts that yearns to be One.

We honor God and show our worthiness to be who He caused us to be by living at peace. It is about knowing that all our hearts are truly united in the cause of goodness and Love. For we were made by God, as His children, in one accord, and together in one world that is the living proof of God and His living Love.

Daily Inspiration, December 12th

“And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day…The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.” (Exodus 14: 13-14)

Moses spoke to his people with the authority that came from his own receptivity and obedience to God. He himself had experienced great proofs that God would be with him and guide him. Moses knew that he could trust God and His power over all else.

Because of this awareness, Moses was able to tell his followers that in spite of great challenges, they could stand still. They could stand firmly on the Truth of God’s presence, His goodness, His purpose and omnipotence, and witness their own salvation. Today.

We can heed this divine demand as well, and expect grace. We can trust God, good, Love, Truth, to keep us safe and to set us free. This is not a mere hope that Moses had or that we aspire to believe. It is the law. Moses could stand still and firm because the law was under his feet—the law of God and His Truth, which naturally defies the lawlessness of fear and its presentations.

I love the idea that closes this statement: “Ye shall hold your peace.” This means, to me, more than, “Hush up and don’t say anything!” It means that our peace, when secured for us by God Himself, is sustained. We can hold on to it, for it, like the law of God, is always with us.

Daily Inspiration, December 7th

“You are the world’s light—a city on a hill, glowing in the night for all to see.” (Matthew 5: 14, Living Bible)

This is the Truth of you. You are a light, a radiant beam meant to shine for all to behold.

What if we woke up with this thought in our mind? What if, each morning, we got re-introduced to ourselves, to our true nature and purpose? What would our day look like if we remembered, really accepted, cherished, and lived this Truth of ourselves?

Jesus saw mankind clearly. He had a vision that was based in divinity. Its source was God’s eyes, and through this perspective, Jesus knew the true individuality of men and women. This awareness was healing. The Master was seeing through the darkened sense of ourselves we often have—the limited beliefs we may accept that say we don’t have enough to give, that we are not worthy, that we should hide our honest selves out of fear or self-doubt.

The Truth never stopped being true in spite of those beliefs. You are a light. You have a special brilliance that only you can share. You are not the night. You are the day. You have goodness, life, love and you have it to share.

Why? Because God made you this way! You are vibrant in God’s qualities. He is perpetually calling you to awake to this fact, to stand on that hill in all your bright glory, and to let others see and know true Life and Love because of you!

Daily Inspiration, December 5th

“You are an open letter about Christ which we ourselves have written, not with pen and ink but with the Spirit of the living God. Our message has been engraved not in stone, but in living men and women.” (II Corinthians 3: 2-3, JB Phillips New Testament)

God’s Word was given to us through the Christ. This revealed Truth is known to us and it is ours to freely express. As we accept this reality of being, this saving message of Oneness with God, we are a living missive, sharing what we know by being who we truly are.

This Spirit within us, this conscious awareness of God’s presence, has made an impression upon us. It has left a mark that can’t be hidden and that only becomes more beautifully clear and more thoroughly understood as we walk the talk, live the facts with grateful joy and with the true spirit of Love.

The Truth of Life isn’t some dead belief, lost in the ages or in the pages of books. It is that reality that is seen in the lives of men and women. If we are to follow the words and works of Jesus, then this message has to be alive—it has to transcend the tombs of fear and limitation and rise up and out into Life.

This is our calling and it is our nature expressed. For the Truth isn’t a hope. It is who we are. So, let’s live this awesome reality. Let’s be that letter, an open and receptive one, with a fresh page every day to see and to be God’s living word of Love.

Daily Inspiration, November 30th

“Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.” (Psalms 64: 1)

We often long for preservation, a saving grace for our lives. We are looking to be kept whole and healthy. We want our supply to remain and multiply, our youth to stay with us, and our lives to be peaceful. We pray to be preserved not only from those threats of physical danger and hatred, but to be kept safe in all ways.

This psalm reminds us that the essential thing we want taken from our lives is fear. This prayer is a plea for release from fear of the enemy, and I think this is the most healing place to begin our prayers as well. For, it is fear that robs us of peace. It is fear that hides the beauty of each day and its power to heal us, rather than harm us. It is this frightened sense of things that keeps us feeling limited, weary, apathetic, and truly not alive.

It is the fear itself that is a deadly and deadening experience. And our recourse is not in pretending we aren’t afraid or being humanly brave. It is in this turning to God, as the psalmist did, for the Truth. In our humble trust in God, we discover our Oneness with Him, and this brings assurance, serenity, confidence. When we turn to God, we turn away from trouble, and we can begin to free ourselves from the belief that our lives demand our fear, when they really demand our living!

Your voice is heard by God. He knows you and your life as He has made it to be and as He keeps it—in His Love, in His Mind, in His tender care and powerful, preserving presence.

Daily Inspiration, November 28th

“I do not pray for these alone [it is not for their sake only that I make this request], but also for [all] those who [will ever] believe and trust in Me through their message, that they all may be one; just as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us…” (John 17: 20, Amplified Bible)

Jesus prayed for all of us. This prayer made in the presence of his immediate apostles was also his promise for us today—for Jesus was the Truth-teller and proved all that he declared.

He wanted all to know and acknowledge with him that we are One. This oneness is our unbreakable connection to the Christ, to the very truth of who we are. The Christ-consciousness that Jesus taught and practiced, accepts and cherishes our oneness with God and therefore, with each other. We are forever inseparable from God, Spirit, Truth, and this reality is unconfined. It was not limited to the era when Jesus lived nor to a specific group of people.

Jesus’s message preceded his physical presence and follows it as well. The Master came to show us what has always been true—that God is One and that Love is His nature and the very law of Life. As we trust this Truth, we feel the power of this eternal prayer. We feel Jesus’s own earnest desire for us, the divine purpose for which he lived, died, and was resurrected.

Let’s abide in this prayer. Let’s rest in its glory and act accordingly—loving one another because there is no him and me, no them and us. There is only One.

Daily Inspiration, November 23rd

“You will be enriched in every way so that you may be generous, and this [generosity, administered] through us is producing thanksgiving to God [from those who benefit].” (II Corinthians 9: 11, Amplified Bible)

Our thanksgiving goes a long way. We give conscious gratitude for all that God has given to us. With this awareness, we find ourselves resting in treasures that are ripe and ready to share with others.

God has enriched us with all that is needful to be generous. We are truly given more than enough because He requires us to express His own goodness, light, and love. God created us to bear witness to His own nature, His qualities and completeness, so that the name of Love and Life are known everywhere.

Be still today in recognition of what God has given you. These blessings may well be people and things, good food and a roof over your head. But, be thankful also for those imperishable things that go beyond that. God’s Life is full of more than what the physical eyes may behold. It is brimming with opportunity, with inspiration, with connection, with wisdom, with laughter and light and intelligence. Divine Love is infinite, filling all space, and is ready for our claiming and sharing.

Allow yourself to rest in the good that you see as well as that which is at hand which you may not see. And by sharing your grateful heart with others, in your acts and in your thoughts, this goodness naturally and necessarily multiplies. The celebration extends beyond our individual friends and families to embrace the whole family of man.

Daily Inspiration, November 21st

“The unspiritual self, just as it is by nature, can’t receive the gifts of God’s Spirit. There’s no capacity for them. They seem like so much silliness. Spirit can be known only by spirit—God’s Spirit and our spirits in open communion. Spiritually alive, we have access to everything God’s Spirit is doing…” (I Corinthians 2: 14-15, The Message Bible)

It may seem like the qualities of God, the spiritual sense of Life and its glories, are beyond comprehension. The material presentations seem so large and real. The senses demand our active attention and our trust. We may feel that the Truth of God, His idea, and His heavenly creation, is ethereal stuff—dreamy unreality.

But our spiritual sense knows better. We can’t understand God’s nature and His promises for us if we expect to discover Spirit through matter. We can’t truly behold limitlessness through a lens of limitation. Spirit is known through that place deep within us that God put there. It is that space in our heart that simply feels right and uplifted and comforted and alive when it hears the Truth.

And as we live in this trust of what we know is right and good in spite of the senses, we are truly alive. This spiritual living is expansive. It fills us up because we are actively seeing our connection with abundance—with God’s infinite provision of intelligence, substance, insight, guidance, and boundless Love. We are seeing our true spiritual nature, and this grateful awareness expands our vision and allows us to generously and enthusiastically share our blessings with others as well!
