“I pray that God will help you overflow with hope in him through the Holy Spirit’s power within you.” (Romans 15: 13, the Living Bible)

This prayer is so sweet and assuring. It shares God’s promise that grace is ready to attend us, uplift us, give us sustenance and contentment.

Sometimes it feels hard to be hopeful, let alone expectant of good. But we can trust God Himself to help us to feel that hope and the peace it brings. The Holy Spirit, that divine activity in human hearts and minds, is at the ready to save us. That gentle yet mighty power is truly with us already, as near as our next breath.

As we turn to God, as we accept the tender message of this prayer, a natural expectation rises up within us. Our outlook is lifted from the doubt and darkness and we begin to see that the dawn is ready to break. God’s kindness reveals that all will be well. That simple promise overflows with healing Love and with a renewed sense of Life, a brighter day for us and for all.

“The Lord is my best friend and my shepherd. I always have more than enough. He offers a resting place for me in his luxurious love. His tracks take me to an oasis of peace, the quiet brook of bliss. That’s where he restores and revives my life.” (Psalms 23: 1-3, the Passion Translation)

This Psalm gives us such a gentle yet powerful image of sustenance, security, and contentment. It assures us that all is well now and that our tomorrow is also taken care of. We can expect each day to have what we need and more. We can anticipate a cleansing of yesterday’s challenges and a renewal for a bright new day.

This may sound too good to be true when life seems to be tough and our circumstances far from blissful or luxurious. But our awareness of God, the Spirit that provides, guides, and loves, brings this sweet and sustaining Life to us where we are. As we look beyond the material and limiting, let go of the ego and its need to control, we can hear God’s voice, feel that companionship, and discover the way to peace.

Let’s willingly release ourselves to this gorgeous, comforting promise. Let’s know that we deserve a beautiful place to rest, an oasis from cares and worries. We are worthy and ready for the restoring and generous grace of divine Love to naturally refresh us and energize us today and every day.

“…in any heart where the Spirit of the Lord is present, there is liberty.” (II Corinthians 3: 17, the Voice Translation)

The presence of God is freedom. Where God dwells, His own qualities live, and He is peace, power, beauty, capacity, joy. The nature of God is all good, and His Spirit makes this goodness known.

We can find it in our hearts. We can find God where Love lives, in that place that God Himself has created and which He actively fills. As we look to that natural love within us, that gentle yet strong knowing and being, we feel free. We have become conscious of the true law of Life, of God’s divine purpose, one that invites us always to praise and rejoice and to live fully and gratefully.

There is no heart that is not ready to feel this liberating Spirit. Any heart can know this reality of life, the freedom that comes of God’s own Love for us. No one is too far gone, too ignorant, too afraid, too sinful, to discover God’s presence in his heart and to feel it, claim it, and share it naturally and generously!

“If you want a happy, good life, keep control of your tongue, and guard your lips from telling lies. Turn away from evil and do good. Try to live in peace even if you must run after it to catch and hold it!” (I Peter 3: 10-11, The Living Bible)

We all certainly want a happy, good life! There may be certain things around us that we can’t control, but we can control the way we approach things. We can take charge of our actions as well as our perspective.

This alertness can do much for us. Our joy can be found as we stay acquainted with what is good and right, as we stay honest and loving. When we express kindness and seek peace with others, we are thinking and behaving like our true selves. And this natural state of being brings comfort and serenity within.

When we stop telling lies, stop giving voice to the devil’s words, and stop taking into our thought the negative and the nasty, we are dwelling in God’s Truth. And His Truth is Love. It is Life triumphant and blessed. Human judgment and opinion, repeating evil or buying into it, isn’t doing us or our world any favors. Instead, let’s turn away from the allure of gossip and cynicism, and let’s instead run after peace like the lifeline that it is!

“Be ready! Let the truth be like a belt around your waist, and let God’s justice protect you like armor. Your desire to tell the good news about peace should be like shoes on your feet.” (Ephesians 6: 14-15, Contemporary English Version)

Have you ever thought about prepping for your day by getting clothed in truth and justice, and putting on the shoes of good intentions? Doesn’t this make for a refreshing and powerful way to enter into the world?

These beautiful and durable garments are provided for us by God. We have surely been given a healing Truth, that consciousness of God’s love for us and our oneness with Him that the Christ proclaimed and demonstrated. We have the good news and it isn’t just a hope. It is Truth, and it is something we can stand on and that can impel us forward.

God’s cause, His peace and salvation, is a righteous one and it is protected by Him. The Almighty is the authority behind all that we do in His name, in the name of peace and love. We have all we need to thrive and to bring the good news, the promise, the assurances to others. All we need is to put on those shoes, to honor that right desire to be a part of the solution, and so to bring God’s goodness to others, one grateful, graceful step at a time.

“Remember that I have commanded you to be determined and confident! Do not be afraid or discouraged, for I, the Lord your God, am with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1: 9, Good News Translation)

God’s command is confidence! Our Father-Mother is reminding us here that we have no reason to fear or be timid. We can cast off a feeling of discouragement and doubt and remember God’s mandate.

This isn’t just a pep talk. God isn’t cheering us up in spite of our limitations. He is telling us who we are and why we are safe, strong, and ready for anything. This confident determination rests soundly on the fact of God’s presence. He is with us. The Almighty is guiding, guarding, uplifting, inspiring, refreshing us. We are not alone and vulnerable. We are accompanied by God. We have divine, inexhaustible resources for freedom, success, victory.

God made us to thrive. His divine demand is that we be like Him and inseparable from His infinite goodness, wisdom, and love. So, we can do more than hope for some elusive gusto and bravery. This fearless certainty is ours now and always because God commanded it, and Truth’s promises are guarantees.

“Happy are those who work for peace; God will call them his children!” (Matthew 5: 9, Good News Translation)

Peace can seem elusive, both personally and in our world. We can feel that we are always looking for it and waiting for the variables to be right, for the stars to align, to be in some special place where gentleness abides.

This verse reminds us of a road to joy. It is by our own activity to promote peace, to work for understanding and harmony, to live as peacemakers, that we naturally gain happiness. We are called God’s children as we act like Him. When we utilize the wisdom, kindness, and powerful Love of God that He gave us, we are proof of His presence and goodness.

And while seeing and feeling peace thoroughly may take some effort on our part, our daily centering—realigning with God’s harmonious control and infinite, unconditional Love—brings a contentment that helps us help others. We can remember that our natural ability and duty is to be a part of the solution, not to perpetuate the problem.

Our light, even when it feels small, is enough to break the darkness, to bring a serenity to our souls and a saving solace to the world.

“Little children, let us stop just saying we love people; let us really love them, and show it by our actions.” (I John 3: 18, the Living Bible)

The first words of this verse are our starting point. Seeing ourselves as little children, as innocent and cherished ideas of God, we get a glimpse of how to love others.

That openhearted love that a child has, full of devotion and readiness to be loved in return, is powerful. We have that sweet love within us. It is more than human affection. It is that Truth of God’s own divine affection that abides in our hearts, at the ready to feel and to express.

We can let go of the adult’s need to judge, to fear, to love with conditions or without sincerity. We can immerse ourselves in the Love of God for us and His tenderness for all of His creation. We can use the depth and breadth of that infinite affection toward one another.

And we can really love doing this. Loving others is a healing thing. It makes us feel like ourselves. And we certainly can’t express genuine love for another without experiencing the peace and gratitude and joy that it brings to our own spirits.

Let’s stop talking about love, unity, compassion, and let’s be little children—eager to love fully, openly, honestly, and generously.

“Meekness and charity have divine authority.” (Science and Health, page 270)

There is a power in humble patience and gentleness. There is strength in love, in kindness, in goodness to others.

The authority that enforces these qualities is divine. God’s government is almighty. His control is certain and sound and omnipotent. And this law of God isn’t full of bluster and bravado. It doesn’t prove its righteousness through scare tactics, punishment, ego, or selfishness.

God is Love and so as we express this compassion, we are supported in our words and works. We come with God’s army of angels to assure that we are successful, helpful, and provided for. As we discover the joy of meekness—of yielding up a personal sense of ourselves with its need to impress—we feel a true power. Our purity allows God’s light to shine through us with its full intensity, and we can truly accomplish good for others.

And this humble affection that Jesus so beautifully expressed, lifts the burden off of self and lays it at the feet of Love. God’s law is responsible, and it is always up to the job.

Joyously claim and express your natural meekness and charity. It is your divine right and a sacred superpower in the world!

“You have surrounded me on every side, behind me and before me, and You have placed Your hand gently on my shoulder. It is the most amazing feeling to know how deeply You know me, inside and out; the realization of it is so great that I cannot comprehend it.” (Psalms 139: 5-6, the Voice Translation)

Let this beautiful assurance wash over you. Accept that this great realization is just for you to feel and to know. We have God, the Love that meets our need and beyond. He is the boundless infinite, and yet He intimately knows you, inside and out.

And what God sees of you is what He made. He sees you truly, clearly, and He completely approves. Your Father-Mother knows the goodness that makes you up and the beauty of your being, your soul, your heart. God is there in the very depths of us, for He is Truth, and this Truth dwells in us—immovable and saving and real.

And this divine Love, this caring Spirit, is around us. He is a friend and companion, walking beside us, surrounding us with perfect protection, touching us with pure affection.

We can know that God has our backs, that He is a beacon for our tomorrow, and that He is right with us in this moment, standing faithfully by our side and well-pleased to be with His beloved.
