“For the Lord God is brighter than the brilliance of a sunrise! Wrapping himself around me like a shield, he is so generous with his gifts of grace and glory. Those who walk along his paths with integrity will never lack one thing they need, for he provides it all!” (Psalms 84: 11, The Passion Translation)

The sunrise can bring such a sense of awe and expectation. While it comes unfailingly each day, there is something about the dawn’s light that feels powerful and uniquely appreciated as we experience its rising.

God’s presence is so much more than this! His light is all-encompassing, surrounding and embracing us, dispelling all darkness with holy brilliance. God’s Spirit is a loving comfort as well as protection. He knows us individually and is generous with His provisions. God also sees His creation collectively, as the very evidence of harmony and goodness.

As we follow with integrity, stay faithful to His way by our receptivity and humility, we will see our needs met and our lives unfolding progressively. His paths are well-lit with His wisdom and warmed by His Love. Just like the sunrise, we can count on God’s glorious light to reveal new opportunities on our horizon, discoveries rich with promise and peace.

“The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing:” (Isaiah 35: 1-2)

These words may seem like poetic images, lovely pictures to reflect on. But they are more than that. They are assurances.

Isaiah was a prophet. He had gained an awareness of the reality of things, a vision of life that we all have a right to expect and to claim for ourselves.

The stark experiences and loneliness, uncertainty individually and collectively, do not constitute a state of being we must accept. It is a place where new things are ready to develop. The desert where nothing seems fruitful is the very place where we have the space for new inspiration, God’s own voice watering the bare ground and causing flowers to come up.

And this blossoming in the wilderness is a renewal. It is fresh and vital, and the contrast makes its glory even more apparent. We are gratefully ready to rejoice and to sing for the beauty that blooms abundantly, God’s promises naturally revealed.

“The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in and puts his confidence in the Lord will be exalted and safe.” (Proverbs 29: 25, Amplified Bible)

Fear is a trap. Getting pulled into a consciousness that is full of anxiety does not bring us safety. This preoccupation with fear may seem rational and natural, but it cannot bring us what we seek.

For no one wants to live in fear. What we all want is peace. We want to know that we are secure and that we can relax and go about our lives. To be captivated by fear of others and fear of life, of time and circumstance, is truly paralyzing. But we can shake ourselves out of this snare and free ourselves to enjoy life.

We can do this by putting our confidence in God. We can trust divine Life and Love, the wisdom and control of God, to keep us alert but unafraid, awake but not frantic, involved but not threatened. The things we fear may seem legitimate, but a focus on fear darkens perfect moments and clouds our rational thinking. A release to God and a trust in Him provides a calm and clarity that reveals solutions, protection, escape, redirection, and peace.

“May the Lord bless and protect you; may the Lord’s face radiate with joy because of you; may he be gracious to you, show you his favor, and give you his peace.” (Numbers 6: 24-26, the Living Bible)

This benediction is a promise. God is ready to endow all this wonderful goodness on you. There is nothing He would not do for you, His own beloved.

We can willingly, humbly, gratefully receive this blessing. It includes protection from trouble and a release from the fear of it as well. God looks at us with love, as a father and mother who adore their child. He is radiant with joy because of what He caused to be, the very treasure of His heart and the reflection of His purpose.

We can release ourselves to the beauty of this message and know that it is for us. While we may feel our faith is small or our sins are many, God is ready to be gracious and kind, to uplift and defend, to love us into an awareness of our own worthiness. He is here to give you His powerfully gentle blessing of peace.

“Look! I am creating entirely new heavens and a new earth! They will be so wonderful that no one will even think about the old ones anymore!” (Isaiah 65: 17, the Passion Translation)

We can awake to this wonderful announcement. We can look! We can behold what God is creating for us to realize and experience.

It may feel at times like things are dull or dreary, or truly challenging and dark. But we can take God, Truth, at His good Word. For right where we might feel that only destruction is going on, there is God, divine Life, with healing and renewal, refreshment, insight, revelation.

This verse tells us that we should expect more than simply a dusting off of the old, making things look just a bit more interesting or tolerable. For He is creating a whole new heaven and earth! The old is not acceptable in the eyes of divine Life. The eternal One demands that all things are new, and right, and satisfying.

Let’s remember that God is Love. His creating is all good, kind, and cleansing. We can relax and allow our eyes to be opened to see new growth, new inspiration, the signs of a heavenly earth that can wipe out those memories of loss, of fear, of anger, of pain.

This wonderful creating is already going on. We can discover it at work in our hearts and minds, bringing out a better way, a light that clarifies and which brings peace, beauty, and joy.

“Tenderness accompanies all the might imparted by Spirit.” (Science and Health, page 514)

God brings to mankind the perfect balance of strength and gentleness. That Holy Spirit that attends us, that comes to us in times of need, is full of power and at the same time is the very expression of Love.

When we open our hearts and thoughts to receive God’s ready angels, we can expect the Almighty to be just that—all mighty. We can know that the Truth means business. There is nothing timid about God and His guidance, protection, resolution. He is able to meet our needs with certainty. We can rely on His authority to fight for us, to obliterate the evils that would seem to challenge His goodness.

And God is Love. So, all that He does for us, all that Spirit imparts, is also accompanied by tenderness. The healing word of God is not jarring or disturbing. It doesn’t cause us fear or worry or make us uncomfortable. God’s angel answers, and His active presence, are tender, comforting, full of strength but not force. The Spirit of God brings with each impactful solution, a caress of understanding, a soothing balm, a feeling of peace.

“Whoever covers over his sins does not prosper. Whoever confesses and abandons them receives compassion.” (Proverbs 28: 13, God’s Word Translation)

We can’t hide and ignore our errors and expect to truly succeed. Those sins—straying from God, good, the Truth—have repercussions. It isn’t about punishment for mistakes. But when we start with imperfect principles, the equation doesn’t come out right.

We need to do our best to erase those errors and start fresh. When we recognize what isn’t aligned with what is truly right and seek to address it, things come together for a more perfect output. If we continue to hold on to wrong-doing or the memory of it, or to dark or unkind thoughts, these tend to rule our lives. This keep us from feeling the true freedom of innocence.

Compassion comes to us naturally as we relinquish our sins, release ourselves from hiding, and realize the deep and broad and beautiful mercy and love of God. In fact, having done wrong and feeling that divine embrace of healing, saving, can cause us to really prosper. We have come to see what it means to surrender the human sense and to let God love us, clean us up, and send us on our way. This experience does more than cancel out an error in the equation. It instructs us and inspires us to continue in a way that is more right and light and lovely!

“I will bless the Eternal, whose wise teaching orchestrates my days and centers my mind at night…I will not live in fear or abandon my calling because He stands at my right hand.” (Psalms 16: 7-8, the Passion Translation)

The Eternal is with us in every moment. We have a constant support, comfort, and guide. This assurance calms our fears and gives us true confidence to advance on our course.

We may think we are in charge of our days or that circumstances or other people run the show. But we can truly rely on the wise teachings of God to orchestrate our days. And this means they are truly arranged harmoniously, all the elements singing together to honor God and our holy purpose to reflect His Life, Love, goodness.

And when we rest, we can truly do so. We can feel that peace as God “centers” our minds. That centering is a release to His Mind, that Oneness of vision that is certain and clear and unthreatened. We can settle into the evening knowing that all is in God’s hands, and that His hands are capable, loving, right, and eternal.

Let’s bless the Eternal! Let’s praise the fact that He is the very substance of each moment—today, tomorrow, always—and that in His Love and His Life, there is fearless peace.

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.” (Psalms 139: 23, 24, New Living Translation)

We can eagerly invite God to examine us. We can remember that this Father-Mother is both wisdom and pure Love. We can be ready to be seen just as we are by this tender Parent. We don’t need to be afraid or ashamed. God’s intention is to show us the better way, cleanse us of unlovely thoughts and intentions, soothe and heal our anxieties.

It may feel like we either want to hang on to our doubts, our history, our unlovely traits or that they just can’t be cleared away. But, an offense to God—what is not made of His goodness and Life and Truth—is unacceptable, and it is also unnatural to us. God’s Love shows us how to release these lies about our goodness and to be our true selves.

We can be open and willing to let God’s loving light shine in on us. His searching isn’t about punishing us, but about healing us. This revealing light doesn’t come to shame us, but to show us our true worth and the ability and power we have to enjoy the path of promise, expanding as we walk in it, with God’s approval and support!

“…make it your top priority to live a life of peace with harmony in your relationships, eagerly seeking to strengthen and encourage one another.” (Romans 14: 19, the Passion Translation)

Relationships are certainly at the top of our lists in terms of what is important to us. Whether it is a working relationship, family, friends, or a romantic partner, our lives often revolve around how well we are getting along.

And while we don’t always have the ability or the right, even, to change others to suit our own desires, we can begin with a purpose and mindset that is powerful to bring about harmony. We can consciously choose peace. We can decide to promote unity, instead of being disagreeable or judgmental, or even expecting others to behave badly.

Instead, we can start with the recognition of our natural oneness with God, with Love, and seek and expect peace. We can encourage each other rather than competing for attention, recognition, or the last word. And we can listen to others openly, willing to hear their ideas and to find a peaceful resolution even when we don’t fully understand or agree.

Let’s make it a top priority to eagerly live in peace with one another. God has made us capable of this. It is our right and our joy!
