Daily Inspiration, March 17th

“Jesus told him, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and most important commandment. The second is exactly like it: ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.’” (Matthew 22: 37-39, International Standard Version Bible)

Loving God is primary. This means a conscious devotion to good, an awareness of the One Mind as supreme, not many minds (including our own) as having power and control. Jesus didn’t give this commandment as a call to do something either unnatural or difficult. Loving God is what we were made to do, and this love is our protection and peace. It’s being true to oneself.

And the second commandment is “exactly like it.” To love your neighbor as yourself is the same as the first commandment. It requires our devotion and it is the most natural expression of our love for God and His love for us. It is a must and not something we can get out of or do only some of the time. Our love for others is a requisite if we truly love God.

God is found in His ideas. To love God necessarily means to love that which expresses Him. This means loving others as the children of God they are, and loving oneself as well. Jesus did not equivocate. He was clear on the vital importance of these commandments. They would gain one access to heaven, to the peace and joy and dominion that is ours to experience here and now.

These commandments are not mere wishes for us to be better humans. They are God’s laws, the inherent principles that underlie our lives and which reveal to humanity the divine reality that Life, in fact, is Love.

Daily Inspiration, March 12th

“God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.” (Psalms 46: 5)

God is already where we are. His presence is ready to save and bless. There is no distance to separate us from God, from divine Love. There is no time to stand in the way of our ready salvation, comfort, peace, healing.

God is in the midst of us. Perfect good, Life, Love, Truth, dwells right where we are, nearer than the air we breathe or the next step we take. We don’t need to run to find God, or strive to know His grace. God is already with us, so we can be still and know this. We can gratefully realize that God is bigger than the roaring senses and the limits that material law, so-called, would attempt to set up as obstacles.

God is in the midst of her—in the midst of our consciousness, within our hearts, and at the center of our lives. Infinite good is both the cause and the effect, at all times and now. God’s action is the only action, for He is the only Life, Spirit, and Mind.

Remember that your help is always at hand, and it is powerful, perfect, saving Love.

Daily Inspiration, March 10th

“Perfect and infinite Mind enthroned is heaven.” (Science and Health, page 266)

Heaven is not about gaining a perfect material life. It is not about passing into a new sphere of experience, above this human life. Heaven is not a pipe dream or a hereafter hope.

Heaven is in letting God be God. It is enthroning—granting sovereign power—to perfect and infinite Mind. It is exalting God and His wisdom over all, and recognizing the authority of this flawless and loving Mind over every aspect of our lives. To name God as the sole authority and final word for us, we settle into our heavenly citizenship.

To do this and to claim that sweet release to God, to peace, to joy, to freedom, we must give up our worship of other powers. We have to kick material belief off the pedestal of our devotion, taking its little minion, fear, along with it. Heaven is already ours to experience when we let that divine Mind take its rightful place as the head of our lives, the wise and wonderful ruler over our hearts and our thoughts.

As Jesus reminded us, heaven isn’t here or there. It is right where we are, within consciousness, within our hearts. This holy peace is ready here and now for our acceptance, for our willing release to the heavenly law of Love.

Daily Inspiration, March 5th

“Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.” (I Peter 4: 12-13, New International Version)

Don’t freak out! Keep calm and trust your vision, your goodness, your God. When we are claiming this Truth of Love we may be confronted with opposition, just as Jesus was. We may stir things up a bit and it may feel like we ourselves are being punished, persecuted, tested.

But you are safe. The outrage of error is not a real power, enemy, presence. It is the resistance to your good, but it comes with a lot of pretense and nothing behind it. Don’t get fascinated or perplexed when things seem challenging. You are not doing anything wrong and you are not in danger. You are being given a blessed opportunity to stay true to Truth, to trust Love, and to put into practice the very Christ-ideal that seems to be opposed.

Know that you are bound for glory. Know that what Jesus proved of everlasting Life, of triumph over all error, is your destiny, so to speak, as well. Rejoice that you are being given the opportunity to lean more on this sweet Truth of Love and that the phantoms of fear and the devilish beliefs that breathe fire on your peace, can do nothing to your victory. Your goodness may make you a target, but this very God-quality is also your protection, your inspiration, your power, and your peace.

Daily Inspiration, March 3rd

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” (Psalms 37: 23)

Be good. Be yourself. Obey the voice that speaks to your heart, lovingly yet firmly guiding you. Our true self isn’t pushed by human will and effort or fraught with arguments and opinions. We are at one with God’s conscious Mind, responsive to the right way, the natural way, the satisfying way, the fruitful way. Yield to this guidance willingly and gratefully.

When we know good and claim it as our being and purpose, each step of our way and each hour of our day is perfectly in sync with what is good for us and for all. As we let go of fear and false pride and the limits that human opinions might dictate, we can hear God’s intention. We can stay in step with God and in accord with our own real nature, pure goodness and love.

And when we listen and follow in this way, we gain God’s delight. He loves us always, but He surely beams with approval when we are radiating His glorious purpose, walking with Him and not out on our egotistical own. And this delight is also our own joy. For God’s pleasure is expressed in our own blessed awareness that we are right on track and that each step is graceful, beautiful, freeing, and progressive.

Daily Inspiration, February 26th

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” (Ephesians 6: 12-13)

Put on your spiritual armor. Be prepared to overcome all that would try to take you down or make you afraid. Stand at the ready to claim a decisive victory over any evil that would appear in your life or that would appear in your world.

We must make sure our defense is of the right kind. We can’t claim victory at sea if we are still hanging out in the trenches on land. We have to go where the action is with the appropriate equipment. The enemy is not person or matter or circumstance. The fight is not a physical one, but a spiritual one.

So it is a mental battle. It must start with defending our thought. We do this by putting on that armor of right ideas that God is faithfully providing, the Truth of His ever-presence and all-power. We can then, right where we are, take the proper offensive, utilizing the might of God’s Mind, His confidence, and the peace that we must always find in honoring the authority of His Love.

Fight the so-called enemy on the right terms. Begin with those saving ideas that God is giving you. Trust them, utilize them, and let God continue to restock your arsenal until you know and feel your rightful, grateful peace.

Daily Inspiration, February 24th

“Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.” (Exodus 23: 20)

God has given us a faithful guide in all that we do. His Love provides for that divine direction and protection as we go through our days and our lives. As we pass through the wilderness of uncertainty or fear, as Moses and his people did, we also have our angel of God sent ahead, to prepare the way and to beckon us into the Promised Land, that rightful place of peace and harmony.

This angel is God-sent inspiration, radiant with its clarity and full of comfort and reliability. These messages from God are spiritual intuitions that see beyond the material sense of things, fly above the mortal scene, and scope out the best and most fruitful way to go. Our angels of His presence instruct us in recognizing and claiming the Life that is God—good, right, natural, eternal.

This angel is always with you and it is comfortable and recognizable, familiar and inviting—never frightening or out of your grasp. When you embark on any new thing, new understanding, or simply a new day, know that you have God’s guiding presence right with you. This presence is God’s Love expressed. Keep those angels close in thought, but let them get just far enough ahead of you to lead you. Don’t try to get ahead of your angels. They know the right time and way to go. Listen. Follow. Trust.

Daily Inspiration, February 19th

“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” (Colossians 2: 8)

Keep your eyes open and your mind alert. The allure of the world’s false ideals and methods can trick even the most faithful followers of goodness and Truth. Don’t let the opinions of others or the often lower expectations of the world drag you down from your summit of peace and love.

The Christ declares and demonstrates the Truth. Be loyal to that inspired and honest and proven word of Life and Love, of goodness and peace. Keep on loving what you love and believing what you believe. The opposition may appear bold and powerful, but that doesn’t make it right or real.

Look to God to measure your actions and thoughts, and stay with the inspiration you receive. You don’t need to run your ideas by the world to see if it agrees. Why lower yourself to a standard set by mortal mind, that mind that is all about limitation, fear, disappointment? Why settle for an unsatisfying ideal that opposes reality, the Truth that is pure goodness and Love?

The traditions of men—those expectations based on arbitrary models that change from day to day and from culture to culture—should not concern us or confine us. We are not in a box of random and often unkind ideas. We express Life and Love. Know who you are and behave in accord with that purity, peace, and love. Don’t let the world change you. You change the world.

Daily Inspiration, February 17th

“John saw the human and divine coincidence, shown in the man Jesus, as divinity embracing humanity in Life and its demonstration, — reducing to human perception and understanding the Life which is God.”  (Science and Health, page 561)

The revelation that appeared to John was really a clear perception of what Jesus had already come to show mankind. It was a vivid realization that heaven and earth were truly one, and that this was Jesus’s message to all of us. The Christ-Truth was the wonderful news that the human and the divine coincide, are one, and that this one is Love.

Jesus came to us as the ideal man, in human form, constantly reminding the world of his relationship with God—his divine sonship. His human life was always expressing an awareness of his divine Life, his real being, and so he was able to heal and save, to be clear and right at all times, and to transcend the limits of the grave.

This is God’s kindness. He is showing us through this eternal Christ-message, that divinity embraces humanity—lovingly exists right where the human would appear to be questioning and struggling. God is Love, and His Love brings the good news of our own holy heritage and inheritance, right to where we can understand it, see it, claim it, and demonstrate it in our lives. Just as Jesus so clearly showed us how to do.

This coinciding of human and divine was no mere coincidence, in the usual sense of the word. It was God’s great purpose and design, to come to us right where we are and show us the heaven of His Love.

Daily Inspiration, Valentine’s Day

“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8: 38-39)

You are always in Love. You are always being held and beheld with the deepest tenderness by divine Love, unconditional spiritual affection. Today and every day you are with infinite Love, inseparable from Him and His loyalty, devotion, care, and approval.

No appearance of separation, of darkness, of turmoil, of loss, can ever sever the eternal bond we have with divine Love. The recognition of this oneness was the great Truth that Jesus knew and proved with healing, world-changing inspiration, and by transcending the belief of death. The Christ-message he gave us was the fact that we are all one with God, at all times and in all places and situations, and that this God, our Father-Mother, is perfect, infallible, unpausing, active Love.

The world may want to make us feel that we are lost and alone or that somehow we are being excluded from love and joy and peace. It would make us believe that our blessings are in yesterday or tomorrow, or that good can be lost with the passage of time or a change in human circumstances. But this is only a mesmerizing idea that would keep us fixated on error, when the Truth is right here with us now—loving us, watching over us, caressing us with Truth and faithfully saying every day, “I love you!”
