Daily Inspiration, July 9th

“Now is the time for so-called material pains and material pleasures to pass away, for both are unreal, because impossible in Science. To break this earthly spell, mortals must get the true idea and divine Principle of all that really exists and governs the universe harmoniously.” (Science and Health, page 39)

Our salvation is not in tomorrow, in next year, or after death. Now is the time to refuse to accept the confines of a life that is all about matter and its limits and lies. We don’t have to ascend out of matter in order to experience freedom from its bondage, right here and now.

How do we gain this freedom, this heaven on earth? Well, we can’t claim Spirit’s promises when we are focused on matter, making physiology and material circumstances our god and the arbiter of our fate. We must turn toward God, honoring His presence and power, and coming into a higher understanding of what is really true, lovely, enduring, and ours to know and experience.

Let’s be about breaking “this earthly spell.” The first thing we must do is know that we are being tricked, mesmerized into believing that matter holds the cards and that we have to take what it deals us. Refuse that deceptive hand. God has your life and He never created a man subject to another power, limited, or expressing anything less than His own grand ideal.

Recognize in each moment whether you are agreeing to matter’s limits, agreeing to wait on your salvation, or whether you are accepting the fact that you are, not shall be, the sons and daughters of God—heavenly, happy, free!

“I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” (John 14: 18)

This is a promise. Jesus was assuring his followers then and today that his departure from the earth did not leave them alone. He gave us all an enduring, precious, and powerful gift: the Truth.

The Truth that Jesus shared with the world and demonstrated through his healing and transcendence of death remains with us in all its glory and efficacy. This revealed Truth of divine Love and man as God’s child and image, is forever present and active. It existed before Jesus appeared on earth and will continue without end. This Truth is forever with us and its purpose and activity is the divine Love that heals us.

The Comforter is our awareness of this law, this Truth of being. This healing ideal is forever dawning in times of need, coming to us in new ways that enlighten and uplift. We are always being reminded of our divine origin and of God’s ever-presence and power. These attending angels are infinitely available and they come from God, from that perfect wisdom that knows precisely the comfort we need and just when we need it.

I will come to you. The Christ that heals will always be where we are, to draw us in with merciful love and to uplift us with strengthening inspiration. Jesus’s great and undying love for us left us with a faithful companion—a practical and available consciousness of our Oneness with saving, comforting, all-powerful divine Love.

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” (Ephesians 2:10, New Living Translation)

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.” (Psalms 34: 19)

It sure may seem that the good we do doesn’t get us anywhere. We may feel under-appreciated, misunderstood, and even accused. Calm down. Don’t let these “afflictions” cause you to take the very road that is making you miserable. Don’t turn from that righteousness and allow anger, resentment, discouragement to barge on into your pure consciousness and good intentions and make a mess.

God’s purpose may get resistance at times, but it doesn’t leave you high and dry. Your loyalty to God, to goodness and love, protects and saves you. God does deliver us out of all those rough challenges. It is not merely safety that we get, though. It is new understanding, an even greater strength and peace. His deliverance is also growth, enrichment, enlightenment, and an even deeper love and gratitude for God, good.

Don’t despair. Maintain your integrity with enough humility to know that it is not your righteousness that is being expressed, but God’s. All the good you do and aspire to do comes of God Himself. He is able to keep His purpose and you safe, energized, and fearless to continue in His wonderful, productive, blessed way.

Daily Inspiration, June 25th

“O God, the proud are risen against me, and the assemblies of violent men have sought after my soul;…But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, long suffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.” (Psalms 86: 14-15)

It may seem that we are being attacked or maligned or at the very least misunderstood or left out. We may feel beaten down and alone, on the losing side against people who we feel have power over our lives or can destroy our peace and happiness.

But our God is greater than all our “enemies.” All those worries over what others are thinking or doing can’t overpower God’s compassion and constancy. Likewise, our own doubts and self-condemnation do not hinder God in His active, patient, loving-kindness. We can always look to Him to find out the Truth of our lives—just how safe we are, and just how loved and lovable and good God has made us to be.

Individuals may be ignorant or selfish. They may not treat others as they should or could. They may cause us to lose our trust in others and in ourselves. But persons and their limited ideas are not Truth. God alone knows us and all, in the way that is right and gracious and saving. His mercy and truth don’t battle with false accusations and fears. They simply dissolve these and reveal the victory—our lives at one with God and His purpose and therefore safe, unharmed, approved of, and wholly good.

Daily Inspiration, June 23rd

“You were running the race nobly. Who has interfered in (hindered and stopped you from) your heeding and following the Truth? This [evil] persuasion is not from Him Who called you [Who invited you to freedom in Christ].” (Galatians 5: 7-8, Amplified Bible)

Stay faithful to God, good. Your Life is calling you forth into goodness, grace, love and gratitude. This is your true path. Honor it with your devotion and don’t let material suggestions and time and circumstance try to lure you into something less noble, less powerful, less right for you and for all.

Believe in God’s power and Love and don’t forget to believe in yourself. You are good enough, strong enough, wise enough, worthy enough to follow the Truth and to make an impact on the world with your life. Don’t let the accusations of others or the temptations to take the “easier way” lure your from your heart’s devotion.

God knows you and He is the one Who made you deserving, ready, and capable of staying true to goodness and faithful to His call to bear witness to great things. This calling is not a burden. You have been “invited…to freedom in Christ!” Freedom is not a burden. It is your natural being and a blessing for you and for all.

You are doing great. Don’t get off track. You are winning and God is with you every step of your wonderful, fruitful, joyous way!

“…my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” (I Corinthians 15: 58)

What you are doing counts! Your righteous endeavors as well as your significant accomplishments are all making a difference. Don’t give up on your ideals, your inspirations, or yourself. God has absolute faith in you. He made you to bear witness to Himself, to Soul’s infinite ideal, and He knows that you can do it.

Working for good, expressing integrity and kindness, plants you squarely on divine Principle, on the law of God. Stay true to this Principle and don’t allow yourself to believe that standing firm on Truth and Love can be fruitless or too difficult. Remember that we abound in the work of God, good—we are rich and filled in this activity and by its great rewards.

The key is Love. “Beloved brethren.” As brothers and sisters of God’s own creating, we are united with divine Love, doing all things through and because of Love. This same Love empowers us, guides us, protects us, saves us, and makes our work not only productive and effective, but truly joyful and satisfying as well.

Daily Inspiration, June 16th

“For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength:” (Isaiah 30: 15)

Our salvation is easier than we may think. It is not about striving and reaching and running in search of something elusive or difficult to understand or arrive at. The Holy One, our loving God, has told us in this passage just how to find our salvation, our harmony, our peace, our safety.

It is by coming home to divine Love, to the Truth of our lives as the children of God. As we give up the sense of personal achievement, intellectualism, success based on will and luck, we discover our true power. As we relinquish personal control, we find our heaven, ready to welcome us in.

It is in a quiet confidence in God—as the Father and Mother of us and of our lives—that we discover real peace and the strength that can truly succeed, and which can also graciously share of that richness with others. It is not by becoming someone and something or by human actions that we are saved. It is by settling in to who we already are, who God made us to be. It is by returning to ourselves as the beloved, worthy, wonderful children of God and both the object and the evidence of His faithful and mighty Love.

Daily Inspiration, June 2nd

“When we wait patiently on God and seek Truth righteously, He directs our path.” (Science and Health, page 254)

Our life is in God’s capable hands. Our tomorrow is not an iffy proposition, a fear, or a false hope. Each moment belongs to God and to know this, is to find peace in this moment and guidance forward into the next—rightly timed, perfectly paced, and most satisfying.

Our job is not to create our next reality. Neither should we race out on the path ahead of our inspiration—running and in our haste to gain some perceived goal, missing the details that are so very needed and also beautiful, enlightening, wise. What we must do is seek Truth righteously. We must and can be still in this moment, trusting God and looking to Him and His perfect Mind for our next step, HIS next right revelation in the progressive Life He guarantees for us.

Patience doesn’t need to be a challenge. It can and should be a precious pause for gratitude. It is space to listen not merely for human actions, but for something greater—divine intention, an awareness of God’s loving qualities and of our own deserving of them. Our reward is not in the human path we are taking. It is in those patient angel moments, looking to God and discovering who we are and why we are so dearly loved.

Daily Inspiration, May 28th

“Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?” (Romans 6: 16)

Our devotion is all-important. Where we choose to give our focus, the worship of either our affection or our fear, determines what kind of a life we will experience. We have the opportunity each day to decide whether we want to serve the god calling itself the senses, limitation, time, and fear or whether we want to obey and honor Truth, righteousness.

Be conscientious about this. When we are obedient to goodness, love, honesty, purity, peace, the results are that we live in accord with the law, the true law of Love. Obeying and honoring this law, we are protected by it and provided with all that God’s government would supply for our well-being. On the other hand, if we continue to limit our lives, follow a course of resentment, of guilt, of unloving conclusions drawn from the senses and material opinions, we are serving those “gods,” so to speak, that have no power to protect us, keep us, or love us.

“Yielding” ourselves as servants to righteousness, is not a hardship. Yielding is surrendering to the Life that God has made for us and for which we are well-suited. In being true to God, we are being true to ourselves, and we “serve” God by naturally reflecting His goodness, love, and Truth in our fruitful and satisfying lives.
