Daily Inspiration, July 19th

“You know the Lord is God! He created us, and we belong to him; we are his people, the sheep in his pasture.” (Psalms 100:3, Contemporary English Version)

You don’t belong to fate, chance, or circumstance. You don’t belong to another person or to your job or to your physicality or personality. You don’t belong to an age or a race or a classification. You belong to God!

And by belonging to God, you belong to all that is good and right and loving. You are the very child and beloved of Life itself, and the beneficiary of its true blessings. You are a child of limitlessness, of freedom, of fearlessness. You are the offspring of Soul’s infinite possibilities and are guided and cared for by infinite Wisdom and pure Love.

We are God’s people. We are His sheep. This doesn’t mean we are wandering aimlessly or that we simply follow like robots. It means that we are playful ideas in a pasture that is abundant in all that sufficiently feeds us, that keeps us lively and energetic, and which is resplendent in delights to occupy as well as teach us as we frolic.

And each of God’s sheep is equally precious to Him. He sees each one of us for who we truly are and why we are uniquely wonderful and necessary and lovable. We belong to God. He is the Lord—our faithful Leader, the keeper of our house and lands, and the tender guardian of our satisfying and satisfied lives.

“The Eternal will guard you from all harm, he will preserve your life; he will protect you as you come and go, now and for evermore.” (Psalms 121: 7-8, Moffatt Translation)

You are safe here and now. You are safe over there and in your tomorrow. There isn’t a place you can go or a thing you can do without God’s presence and protection. This is a promise that doesn’t get withdrawn and is unconditional.

Why? Because God cannot fail to be All. He is always going to be where you are and He is always going to be powerful Love right there. He is the Eternal. God is ahead of you, behind you, and right with you now and always. He is Life and you reside safely in that Life and in His embracing, sustaining Love.

We don’t need human bravery to get by. We have divine courage to lean upon. We are guarded from harm in each and every day because we are precious to God and because our comings and goings—all that we are and all that we do—are the expression of His Life. They are God’s qualities made known, so nothing is done without His very nature and substance behind it and within it.

Now and forevermore, walk forward with peace. You are always with God, with good. You can leave a job, your home, a relationship, but you will never be separate from the Eternal Life which is perfect, preserving, protecting, powerful Love.

Daily Inspiration, July 12th

“There is but one creator and one creation. This creation consists of the unfolding of spiritual ideas and their identities, which are embraced in the infinite Mind and forever reflected.”  (Science and Health, page 502-503)

God’s creation is a boundless universe of brilliant ideas—individual and unique and eternal. Each one of us is a specific thought, purposefully conceived by God. Our lives express the creativity which is God’s eternal abundance. So, the divine Life unfolds new opportunities, adventures, joys, growth, every new day and each new year of our experience.

This unfoldment is not new creation. It is not subject to chance and circumstance or to the ingenuity or ignorance of men. God made all and made it good. He created the beautiful individual identity that you are and with it the beautiful life that you are worthy to live. This Life isn’t your creation. It is already done. Its completeness is not some fate you must live with, but a powerful opportunity to surrender to abundance, perfection, rightness, progress, peace, happiness.

For our Father-Mother already knows the outcome of things. He knows that what He made and saw to be perfect, forever remains this way. What this leaves us with is the great joy and necessity of seeing a bit more of that fullness each day, prepared especially for us.

Walk forward expectantly into each day as more of God’s ideal for your brilliant life is revealed—as fears and doubts and limits are lifted to show what has already been there: creation made by God and made to reflect His glory through you.

And, blessedly, each of God’s ideas is safe in its perfect identity. We are embraced, hugged close and loved, within the thought of God, within Love’s Life and Life’s Love.

Daily Inspiration, June 28th

“Whatever you do [whatever your task may be], work from the soul [that is, put in your very best effort], as [something done] for the Lord and not for men,” (Colossians 3: 23, Amplified Bible)

We all seem to have so much to do! The tasks seem endless and either challenging or monotonous. It is easy to lose sight of the soul’s purpose and with that, to lose steam and power and inspiration. When we work from the outside and not from the inside, we often feel depleted or unsatisfied or unmotivated.

So listen to this message and remember that your Soul is not only where you find focus, it is where you discover or rediscover your joy. Whatever you do, put your heart into it. Remind yourself that your work is done for good, for Love, for Life, to demonstrate the qualities of God on earth. God gave us a purpose, and when we remind ourselves of that, it buoys us to do better and to do it with more willingness, enthusiasm, and success!

When we act to impress people with what we do or to show up another, we may get the job done, but we lose the true satisfaction that comes of utilizing our own special gifts in our own unique way and declaring God’s presence in the process.

When we appreciate and glorify what God made—you and your good work—we are celebrating and honoring Him. We are being true to ourselves as well. In doing so, we not only show forth God’s presence, we discover and feel our best as well.

Our Soul is full of light and inspiration, and when we look to it—to that God connection within us—we shine! And our work is naturally freer, more productive, and we and the world are blessed by it.

Daily Inspiration, June 23rd

“As the children of Israel were guided triumphantly through the Red Sea, the dark ebbing and flowing tides human fear, — as they were led through the wilderness, walking wearily through the great desert of human hopes, and anticipating the promised joy, — so shall the spiritual idea guide all right desires in their passage from sense to Soul, from a material sense of existence to the spiritual, up to the glory prepared for them who love God.” (Science and Health, page 566)

The children of Israel sought the Promised Land. They were being called to freedom and they would not settle for anything less. This journey was not always easy and their fears and doubts would often try to get the better of them. But the holy purpose and promise never left them. Their desire for what was rightfully theirs led them home.

As we go forward in life, challenged at times by what seems like a desert of uncertainty and insufficiency and a wilderness of fear, our hope can stay strong in the promise as well. We are being guided to something greater and also more natural to us than a life of bondage to limits, worry, doubt, guilt, and personal responsibility.

Freedom is not only our goal; it is our very present state of being. It is the description of ourselves that God made and put permanently within us. It is the reason we are unwilling to settle for less than joy, wholeness, peace, prosperity. We were born with freedom in our hearts because freedom is the Truth, our Truth.

The spiritual idea—our true identity as God’s own child forever at one with Him—is our guiding star, our manna, and our consoling, uplifting Comforter. Our right desires are being guided to the better day, the better way, the real and brilliant and liberated life we deserve to realize.

Stay faithful to your purpose. Appreciate the journey for the gifts of wisdom and patience and mercy and creativity that it is bestowing on you along the way. The Promised Land is not a pipe dream. It is reality inviting you home.

Daily Inspiration, June 21st

“…you’ve become a new person. This new person is continually renewed in knowledge to be like its Creator.” (Colossians 3: 10, God’s Word Translation)

The more we know of God, of Life, the more we are made new. We can’t fail to give up—as unreasonable and unnatural and unnecessary—that sense of ourselves that isn’t up to par. God’s standards are high and holy. They are beyond the lowered expectations we may have for ourselves and our lives.

You have become a new person. Each day, you have a renewed opportunity to get better acquainted with who you really are, today. This “you” is the idea that God created, not the one feeling old and weary with years and fears and tears. God made you like Himself. He made you of Spirit, Truth, and Love. He created each one of us to actively and accurately express His qualities and nature today.

Recognize the real you. Every day grants us the occasion to agree to be our best selves, our true selves, new to this moment and brand new in it. You can choose to live as God made you and sees you, and to give up the limited, limiting, depressing, declining, and entirely false. Today is your day to shine. You have become a new person, because God’s Life and Love is constantly revealing new ideas, new outlooks, new perspectives to you and through you. Be willing, ready, eager, and grateful to realize and experience this vibrant newness in yourself, in others, and in your life.

Daily Inspiration, June 16th

“If Truth is overcoming error in your daily walk and conversation, you can finally say, ‘I have fought a good fight . . . I have kept the faith,’ because you are a better man.”  (Science and Health, page 21)

Look kindly on your life. Are you each day yearning to know goodness better? Are you striving to think and act with more love in your heart? Are you learning more and more that feeling anything less than kindness, mercy, forgiveness, appreciation, patience, is not only ungodlike, it is uncomfortable and unfruitful?

Trust your journey to a more honest you. You were built to be God’s own expression—the very evidence of Love and harmony here and now. This is your true state of being and any mistaken sense of this, realized, is a learning process that contributes to your ultimate success.

Challenges may come. We may feel we are not good enough, that we have done things we shouldn’t have, or that we haven’t sustained good thoughts in every day. Take heart. If the Truth of Life and Love are becoming more real in your thinking; if the recognition of what truly is good and right is becoming more apparent; if you are having more love for good and giving error and evil less control and focus, you are doing much.

The overcoming can feel daunting, but it is where we truly discover and appreciate the glory of being a better man and woman, the one who God made and who is much more natural to us. By this daily awareness, we come to know the heart within us and the life of Love that would truly set us free—moment by glorious moment, day by glorious day.

Daily Inspiration, June 14th

“Unselfish ambition, noble life-motives, and purity, —these constituents of thought, mingling, constitute individually and collectively true happiness, strength, and permanence.” (Science and Health, page 58)

Here noted are three beneficial qualities that we can realize and cultivate if we are to feel truly happy and at peace in ourselves and with the world. These are aspects of our thinking that together help us achieve success. They are entirely natural to you, ready to be utilized.

If you look to your heart, without judgment or analysis, you can discover that selfless purpose and the desire to pursue it. We often think of ambition as something that is a personal drive or push for attainment. But an ambition that is about good for all and not exclusively for ourselves, is an admirable and powerful thing. The dictionary defines ambition as “an earnest desire for some achievement…and the willingness to strive for its attainment.” That willingness, not willfulness, is a yielding to God’s purpose, listening, and obeying with energy and receptivity and expectation of success.

These selfless good works, in unison with life-motives that are noble and thoughts that are pure—free of limits and judgment and fear and the belief of sin and evil—bring us an honest and sustainable joy and peace. We have attuned ourselves to God’s real design for our lives. This harmonious blending of powerful yet loving qualities brings out satisfying results in our own lives and for those around us as well.
