“The grass beneath our feet silently exclaims, ‘The meek shall inherit the earth.’ The modest arbutus sends her sweet breath to heaven. The great rock gives shadow and shelter.” (Science and Health, p. 516)

Our beautiful earth is constantly revealing heavenly realities. We can open our eyes and ears and see and hear and feel God’s presence making itself known, giving us beautiful and stirring glimpses of spiritual Truth, opening us up to receive what is beyond these limited yet lovely experiences.

The grass beneath our feet continues to grow, without struggle or pain, a demonstration of humble trust and natural resilience. It reminds us of the rightness of meekness and the ability we have to yield to God’s tender care with expectation of productivity and renewal.

Flowers reveal beauty and naturally turn to the sun, the light, for Life and by doing so grow and blossom. We can love the aroma these blooms send forth and know that we can bring a pleasing atmosphere as well as we turn our own faces toward the light, the ever-present, warming, loving sunlight of God’s Truth, of divine Love.

The mountains show their strength, towering with majesty and providing shelter and shade. They demonstrate endurance as well as igniting within us the spirit of ascending aspirations—of uplifted thought, the call to rise higher and to triumph with a perspective that is above the earth, and yet still somehow grounded, practical, wise, and beautiful.

Let’s be humbly awake to the ways in which the earth is lovingly revealing to us the goodness and glory and presence of heaven.
