Daily Inspiration, March 14th

“Little children, let us not love [merely] in theory or in speech but in deed and in truth (in practice and in sincerity).” (I John 3: 18, Amplified Bible Classic Edition)

What greater gift can we give ourselves and the world than to love in this way? Note that the passage begins by addressing us as “little children.” Isn’t this a wonderful place from which to approach our mission to love mankind openly, sincerely, and with actions that demonstrate this Love?

For to realize and utilize Love as children do, keeps it sweet, expectant, and pure. A child easily loves and is often so ready to share that affection with others. They are eager to do this without a feeling of fear, a jaded attitude, or low expectations. They are open to instruction and tend to simply enjoy the opportunity to be the very lovable and loving ideas they were caused to be.

Let’s awaken the dear children within us and let their lights shine with Love—unafraid, full of bright hope, living and giving from the heart of our being, and doing it without limit or condition. Let’s give ourselves the gift of being an active lover of mankind, a capacity that we possess so naturally. For our Father-Mother created His children to be just like Him—infinite and perfect and powerful Love!

Daily Inspiration, March 9th

“Let your gentleness be evident to all.” (Philippians 4:5, New International Version)

It may seem that we must present ourselves as powerful, in control, bold, tough, and forceful. We may feel encouraged to show how strong we are and to make our lives be about proving our abilities and our dominance. The world would seem to value this human sense of control and power as desirable and necessary.

And yet to follow this advice from Paul is so much more needed. Stop hiding your sweet selves either out of competitiveness, pressure, fear, or a sense of vulnerability. Your gentleness—that kind tender heart of yours—is not meant to be hidden. It should be in full view. Our ability to listen to others, to respond with patience and peace, is truly valuable.

And this gentleness is natural to us. It is also a way to true success. Gentleness is not timidity. It is Love, powerful Love, touching humanity with its sincere goodness, courtesy, peaceful attitude. It is conscious compassion, and this gentle thought and its genuine actions, have changed the world, as Jesus and so many other loving leaders have proved.

Don’t hide your gentleness. Use it boldly! Let it be seen and felt by all.

Daily Inspiration, April 6th

“He plucked me out of a pit of confusion, even out of the quicksand; he placed my feet on a rock and established my steps.” (Psalms 40: 2, International Standard Version)

Confusion can sure feel like we are in a pit, and even slipping into quicksand. When we can’t see the answer, or find our peace, life can feel unsteady. It can seem as if we are spinning out of control and like there is no solution to discover, no matter how hard we wrestle for it.

But God is at the ready to pluck us out of that confusion, and set us on steady ground. How do we find Him? How do we get out of the grips of that uncertainty? We can begin by letting go of a personal sense of responsibility, of a limited little mind and ego that just can’t seem to figure it out. We can consciously recognize that there is an answer, a Higher Power, ready for us to yield our weary and busy thoughts to its calm reason and sure direction.

Relax and trust. The divine Mind is clear and that clarity is ours to which to surrender. We can release our worries and fears to infinite wisdom and pure Love. God is at the ready to lift us out of the dark pit, and to make our steps steady and progressive. Let His strength carry you up and out, shining a light of Truth to guide you, and set you down safely into your wonderful Life!

Daily Inspiration, March 7th

“When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord; he brought me into a spacious place.” (Psalms 118: 5, New International Version)

When we feel pressed and pressured, boxed in and stuck; when it feels as if our options are limited or that there are no answers, our salvation truly is at hand.

We can turn away from any dark presentation of the senses and from our own fears and doubts, as the psalmist continually did, and find God, full of wisdom and loving care. We can turn to our mighty Father-Mother—give up the personal ego that can’t figure it out, for the divine solution and resolution from the One Who knows and loves.

God and His Love bring us into a “spacious place.” His conscious presence leads us not only to some narrow escape from hell, but into a large and wonderful expanse of infinite possibilities. He opens our thought to opportunities and ideas that answer our immediate needs and that also broaden our awareness of more goodness on the horizon to be realized and experienced.

This spaciousness that is revealed when we call upon God with humble receptivity, illumines our way, progresses us, invites us in to a large and luminous moment of greater insight, joy, healing, and peace.

Daily Inspiration, March 2nd

“And what does the Lord require of you except to be just, and to love [and to diligently practice] kindness (compassion), And to walk humbly with your God [setting aside any overblown sense of importance or self-righteousness]?” (Micah 6: 8, Amplified Bible)

God’s requirements for us are simple, yet powerful. They begin with knowing Who God is and Who we are. God is Love and He is Life. If we are to live true to God and to ourselves, we must honor Love fully. It is our real purpose and our way to peace, joy, and contentment.

We can walk each day, moving forward and onward and upward, as we humbly allow God to guide us. This means letting go of the reins of personal control and yielding to God’s design—one which is harmonious, safe, right, progressive, loving, and so lovely. When we put our little ego away, and rest in who we truly are—the expression of God’s own Love—we are set free in our own lives and have a positive impact on the lives of others as well.

Justice, kindness, and compassion are powerful and also very natural to us. But, we need to be conscientious about our practice of tender affection and generosity. It is easy to get caught up in selfish concerns or a limited perspective. So, we must actively remember to be who we were made to be, and to love, without judgment or fear, because God requires it and because it is where we truly find our genuine joy.

Daily Inspiration, February 28th

“We should master fear, instead of cultivating it.” (Science and Health, page 197)

When we cultivate anything, we are preparing it and promoting its growth. Think about what you want to see realized in your life, what you want to spend time and effort, focus and energy, getting ready to bring to fruition.

To plant in the soil of your life seeds of fear, and then to nurture them there, is to cultivate an experience that is unproductive, paralyzing, and limited in every way. It is normal in our human lives to be afraid, and it may at times seem very valid to feel this way. But, is the best action to feed these worries with dooming predictions, over-analysis, and hopeless helplessness? Isn’t it much better to recognize these fears and to see that we can conquer them?

As thoughtful and right-minded individuals, we certainly seek mastery in our lives. We want to grow and learn and reach a better understanding of things. Why not master the very thing that can cause life to be less than you deserve, and actually hinders your growth? Why not be the master of fear, rather than its slave?

When fear appears, root it out! It doesn’t need a lot more attention and pondering and whining and worry. What it needs is recognition that it is, indeed, a weed messing up our garden.  We can then see that the good that is with us and in us, the inspiration and understanding we already have, is much bigger than those anxious thoughts. In fact, that fear has no roots. But by pulling it out, we can see what it’s been hiding from us, and only gain more power and strength and beauty in our lives by mastering that lie, whether it takes one swift uproot or many!

Let’s cultivate the good that is in our lives. Let’s be a grateful garden and remember that fear is not a part of Divine Love’s creation, so it is not a legitimate part of our lives.

Daily Inspiration, February 23rd

“[The] healing power of Truth…lives through all Life, and extends throughout all space.” (Science and Health, page 146)

Truth is a living thing. It is alive with goodness and power and active with God’s eternal intention. This Truth pulses with an energy that is greater than matter and material beliefs about life and reality. This Truth is the living Love that is both the substance and the purpose of God’s creation.

And God’s Truth naturally brings healing. It perpetually announces divine Law and lovingly reminds us what is real and truly ours to claim and to celebrate. It comes through the Christ-message—that revelation to humanity that we are God’s own ideas and that we are spiritual, immortal, and loved with an everlasting love.

There is no place where this potent activity of Truth is not available and at work. It is not lost in space or to seemingly closed or troubled minds. It is the very Life that is living in each one of us and in everything that God saw fit to make. The healing power of this Truth is found in that wonderful awareness that the divine ideal is right here where the human need seems to be, meeting it with established authority and with the tender certainty of Love.

Daily Inspiration, February 21st

“I will gather all nations and peoples together and they will see my glory.” (Isaiah 66:18, New Living Bible)

Let the gathering begin! Let’s rejoice that God is All-in-all, and that His purpose is a divine demand. God is Truth and Love. It is His intention that we know His nature and see just how mighty, glorious, beautiful, and right He is.

And so God brings us together to witness Him—to come as One to know His glory, the Truth of Life as Love. Let’s allow ourselves to be gathered. Let’s trust that division is not God’s action and so it cannot win, cannot be productive or constructive or progressive. The only way to know God—the glorious Truth of peace and Love and harmony that is His very Being—is to yield to Oneness, to His intention and commandment, and to the reality of His creation.

It may feel that we are so far from this gathering together for the glory of God, but we can’t be deceived by appearances. Divisiveness and discord humbles us to the sweet and saving presence and power of Love. For this Love alone feels right and healing. A house divided cannot stand, but even when it seems to fall, there is divine Love, undivided, reminding us of who we really are and uniting us anew in the name and the glory of Love.

Daily Inspiration, February 16th

“Be cheerful. Keep things in good repair. Keep your spirits up. Think in harmony. Be agreeable. Do all that, and the God of love and peace will be with you for sure.” (II Corinthians 13: 11, the Message Bible)

What a sweet and powerful to-do list! If we look to these wise suggestions for our daily lives, we will find ourselves in a happy place. We will become aware of the presence of love and peace, of God with us.

Being cheerful isn’t always easy, but I know that whenever I can turn from self-pity to humor or from a dreary outlook to a more hopeful approach, I feel better. I am open to grace and inspiration and healing. We can be good-humored without being false about it. We can keep our spirits up by remembering that God is governing and that there is always much for which to be grateful and expectant.

Keeping things in good repair can mean many things. I think of it not only as making sure our homes and our possessions are orderly and functional, but also that we keep good relations with others, smooth over what we can, forgive, keep peace. It also means a self-awareness that looks for healing within, a clearing away of the old, the broken sense of ourselves, and discovering who we really are—innocent, undamaged, with unlimited potential for good.

Think in harmony. This isn’t about agreeing with ever human opinion. What it is about is remembering God’s Oneness, that we are all a part of one creation, with God, Love, as Cause. It is looking consciously for common ground and listening to others and to God’s unifying word, rather than focusing on differences.

These steps include so much more than what is shared here, and yet they also are simple, natural to us, and a way to heaven—knowing God’s love and peace for us right here on earth.

Daily Inspiration, February 14th

“Human affection is not poured forth vainly, even though it meet no return. Love enriches the nature, enlarging, purifying, and elevating it.”  (Science and Health, page 57)

The love that we feel in our hearts and share in our lives, is never in vain. It may seem that at times we give this rich affection naturally and yet it is not acknowledged, not humanly returned. We may feel that our love is even spurned or trod upon by another.

But this perception of things doesn’t change the fact of Love. Love in action, with a pure motive behind it, is always a great thing. It does have an impact on others, whether or not that comes to us clearly in the way that we expect. Love is God’s nature moving within us and expressed by us. And God is power, salvation, goodness, peace.

As we love, without focusing on need (it’s kind of hard to do, isn’t it?), we can find that sweet awareness of Love itself and rest in it, feeling its presence, and relishing the fact that Love simply is and that we have it, or we could not feel it and express it. This Love—acknowledged, utilized, explored, realized—is transformative. It continues, by its use, to enrich us, enlarge our reach, and give us purer ideals and a higher perspective.

True Love is going on infinitely and right now, and you express it and are a recipient of it. God’s Love sees you, knows you, adores you, and gives you plenty of that Love to share freely as well!

Happy Valentine’s Day, you beloved lovers!
