let-your-gentleness-be-evident

“Let your gentleness be evident to all.” (Philippians 4:5, New International Version)

It may seem that we must present ourselves as powerful, in control, bold, tough, and forceful. We may feel encouraged to show how strong we are and to make our lives be about proving our abilities and our dominance. The world would seem to value this human sense of control and power as desirable and necessary.

And yet to follow this advice from Paul is so much more needed. Stop hiding your sweet selves either out of competitiveness, pressure, fear, or a sense of vulnerability. Your gentleness—that kind tender heart of yours—is not meant to be hidden. It should be in full view. Our ability to listen to others, to respond with patience and peace, is truly valuable.

And this gentleness is natural to us. It is also a way to true success. Gentleness is not timidity. It is Love, powerful Love, touching humanity with its sincere goodness, courtesy, peaceful attitude. It is conscious compassion, and this gentle thought and its genuine actions, have changed the world, as Jesus and so many other loving leaders have proved.

Don’t hide your gentleness. Use it boldly! Let it be seen and felt by all.
