Daily Inspiration, December 18th

“Nothing but the power of Truth can prevent the fear of error, and prove man’s dominion over error.” (Science and Health, page 380)

We can seek to feel in control by human will. We can try to be free of fear by putting on toughness. We can analyze ourselves and others and so hope to gain a better understanding of how to beat down the blues, the anxieties, the limits on our freedom and peace.

But these remedies can’t really set us free. Fear and other mistaken beliefs about life can only be fully prevented and conquered by a power beyond human efforts. It is by divine Truth alone that we can really know our dominion. For it is Truth, God, that gave us this supremacy, and this by reflection, not exertion.

The Truth that will prove our dominion is that fact of our divine nature as sons and daughters of God. The power that will reveal harmony and authority is the Truth that we are not in control, nor need to be. God, divine Love, is governing us and all creation. Our dominion over fear and error is found by letting go of control—by realizing with grateful joy that God has our Life, and He is pure goodness and Love, forever with us and for us.

Daily Inspiration, December 16th

“…stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.” (Job 37: 14)

Stay still. Just be. Stand in peaceful awareness of Life and its glories. Behold and cherish what is real and true and do it from a point of stability, of simple trust and spiritual observation.

God and His Truth and Love are right where you are. You don’t need to rush about mentally or physically seeking what you already have. Stand still. Let that gentle and powerful Christ come to you and show you what is real and really yours to enjoy and to share. Stillness can be your savior. Try it.

And know that you can do it. The calm state of thought that is ready to be blessed, inspired, illuminated, healed, is yours naturally. We do have the innate capacity to know God and so we are equipped with the ability to be still enough to feel thoroughly His presence and to hear easily His Word.

Stand still. God’s glorious activity upon you and for you is enough. Let Him do the acting, the inspiring, the healing, and stand in peaceful awe that you are in the perfect spot to witness and accept such powerful goodness and wondrous, saving Love.

Daily Inspiration, December 11th

“…thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.” (Psalms 18: 35)

God’s righteousness is our salvation. It is the hand of God, the strength and certainty and authority of Truth, which lifts us out of despair and darkness and into triumph and joy.

It is not human energy and willpower that holds us up. It is not the skin of our teeth, luck, or physical endurance that gets us through. Our life is in God’s hands, and the infinite Almighty can surely keep us upright and free us from the heaviness of material and limiting beliefs about our lives.

And this mighty hand of God is also pure Love. It is His gentle kindness, mercy, and loving touch that gives us true greatness. It is by our humble yielding of ego and human will to the Love of God and the healing presence of the Christ-Truth, that we feel true power, vitality, and dominion.

Our life is always safe in God. Our greatness is a guarantee, for we are the loved image and object of His gentle, righteous, powerful protection and affection.

Daily Inspiration, December 9th

“…take heed to yourselves and be on your guard, lest your hearts be overburdened and depressed (weighed down) with the giddiness and headache and nausea of self-indulgence, drunkenness, and worldly worries and cares pertaining to [the business of] this life…”  (Luke 21: 34, Amplified Bible)

Be alert, but unalarmed. Don’t let the world’s presentations of trouble and gloom overwhelm you and depress you. Don’t let material temptations trick you into being more asleep to good, more deadened to the presence of Life at hand.

In these days it may seem easy to feel transfixed by horrors and injustice, sickness and the fear of it. It can feel at times impossible to remember why we believed in the power of God, good, and to feel burdened by our call to be healers, forces for good, and to bring joy and hope to our world, not to mention ourselves.

But Jesus knew what we might feel, for his times were the same—full of the allure of false gods and of a people torn, poor, and troubled. He knew that we might feel the pressure, and he told us to be on guard. In this same sermon Jesus promised us the kingdom of God and hand!

Why feel dragged down by matter and its falsity when Spirit, God, Truth is ours and is the solution to every appearance to the contrary? Our job is to realize that we have a higher calling and it is one that we are completely prepared to carry out or we would not have been called. We can wake up from the nightmare of human control and yield consciously and willingly to the divine, the control of Life that is pure goodness. This reliance is true power, and it gives us fearless freedom, expectation, and joy in being the sons and daughters of God that we truly are, and actively expressing that wonderful fact!

Daily Inspiration, December 4th

“Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually.” (I Chronicles 16: 11)

Pursue the saving Truth. Make each moment one in which to discover and utilize God’s power, to lean on His goodness, and to rest in His Love. Seek His face at all times.

What does this mean? It means we must always be looking to God in all that we think and do. We must seek His strength instead of material power and reliance. We must look to infinite good as the mighty Source of all that is right in our lives, and expect to receive what perfect Love will always give us.

It is His face we seek. We look toward God, toward the Father-Mother-Love, to know what is real and right. We look to that One Who made us to know how we are, to perceive the Truth of our state of being and our worthiness. God’s face shows us a clear image of ourselves. So, seeking His countenance is honest. It presents to us the facts of our being and of our truest, best selves.

Self-analysis will not show you who you are. The words and actions of others can’t judge you righteously. God knows Life, for He is Life. He knows you, because He made you. He is infinite power, so He is able to hold you secure in His keeping, the image of His Love and the very smile on His beaming face.

Daily Inspiration, December 2nd

“My angels are exalted thoughts, appearing at the door of some sepulchre, in which human belief has buried its fondest earthly hopes. With white fingers they point upward to a new and glorified trust, to higher ideals of life and its joys.” (Science and Health, page 299)

Your thought-angels are not scared of the dark. These uplifting ideas are always right where you are, ready to show you a way out of the tomb of mortal, finite, frightened, hopeless beliefs and an easy escape to the sunshine of Life.

Listen for those angels and follow their guidance. They are not wishful thinking. They are the Word of God, His presence, coming to us right where we are and telling us the Truth. These God-like thoughts are full of power and gentleness. They are trustworthy angels, for they know exactly where we seem to be, can find us there, and will lead us lovingly home.

I like to remember that these inspired thoughts are always abiding. Every wonderful angel message that has guided and protected you remains with you, at the ready. And new angels can join the choir at any time, and we should welcome them.

The angels of God are like Him. They are thoughts of that divine Mind, full of Love and peace and wisdom. Listen and watch and believe. You are being given everything you need—beautifully, sweetly, powerfully, angelically.

Daily Inspiration, November 27th

“Thanks be to God who leads us, wherever we are, on his own triumphant way and makes our knowledge of him spread throughout the world like a lovely perfume!” (II Corinthians 2: 14, JB Phillips New Testament)

Happy Thanksgiving! Let’s make this day one where we are consciously aware of God and the riches of Love that He has given us. Every day should be such a day of gratitude. You are blessed each day because of what God has made you to be. You are  a blessing each day because of what you consciously accept of that Truth and carry with you on your daily walk, a light shining by the abundance of God’s own light of Love.

Wherever we are, we are led by God on His triumphant way, as the quote says. It is because He is all-power, all-presence, all-consciousness, that God always wins, good always carries the day and necessarily takes us along on the victory march. We have every reason for gratitude and each moment we have an occasion to express it through our trust, our praise, our love for God and man.

God’s intention is to share the Truth of eternal Life with all creation. So, He has caused us to know Him and so to be the living witnesses to that good news. Let’s give thanks that we are the perfume that causes others to pause, to take in the beautiful aroma, and to feel with us that gratitude that is a genuine thanksgiving, a sincere awareness of the fact of God as Life and as Love.

Daily Inspiration, November 25th

“Every child of God can defeat the world, and our faith is what gives us this victory.” (I John 5: 4, Contemporary English Version)

You are a winner. Every child of God is able to achieve victory. Believe this. It is because you are that child of God, the beloved idea of perfect Life, that you have a power and a strong defense against the slings and arrows of the world.

Our faith in God and in ourselves is necessary. The limitations, fears, opposition, misunderstanding, and material obstacles the material world would present are not bigger than we are. Our army is not in numbers, but in Oneness. It is in that conscious awareness that we are children, always cared for and at one with our Father-Mother— infinite goodness and omnipotent Love—and that there is no other power or presence but God.

He has absolute and loving control over His family, the children of His design and the expressions of His own Life. We each can beat the foe and we do it by an understanding faith—the certainty that we are not alone, but necessarily and permanently united to infinite Love and perfect Truth.

The world’s accusations are nothing against the Christ-Truth, the loving awareness that God is All and that we are forever at One with this Almighty Love.

Daily Inspiration, November 20th

“Man is idea, the image, of Love; he is not physique.” (Science and Health, page 475)

The structure of a physical body and the form in which it appears is not your identity. That limiting concept belittles God and the magnificent idea He created called man—you and me.

God is Mind and Spirit. His image is not physical, not built of material things. Man is the very idea of God’s Love expressed. The very substance of our being is divine Love, so it is limitless, deathless, painless, comfortable, strong, peaceful, harmonious. You are not what you look like any more than you are what you eat or what you put on your body.

Man is an idea; and he is not a human idea, but a thought of Love, God. You are a pure idea conceived by the divine Mind to express His vision, His intelligence, His infinitude, His beauty, Life, and Love.

You are not confined to a physical appearance or stuck in a material vessel. You are unconfined Life and Love. You are uniquely you because you are the expression of God’s precise and specific Love for you. This defines your being. His Love for you is each brushstroke in your portrait, and the result is a masterpiece—perfect, unfettered, colorful, lovely, inspired, and inspiring.

Daily Inspiration, November 18th

“Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me.” (Micah 7: 8)

The enemy, the problems, the challenges, the fears will not win the day. We do not surrender to the opposition against our peace. We have no intention of conceding defeat. Our God will not allow it.

When we fall, it will be an occasion to be lifted up. It will be an opportunity for God’s strength and righteousness to carry us up out of the pit of discouragement. By surrendering to God, and not to evil, we gain in understanding and perspective. We win the day by releasing a personal sense of control for the divine law, the supremacy and goodness of Spirit.

That darkness that envelopes us at times and makes us feel so far from inspiration, from hope, from joy, from a sense of love for ourselves and others, is not our final destination. It is, in fact, a silent vestibule for God’s own light to shine, to reach the thought that is humanly at a loss, with the wisdom and clarity that only the divine can bring. We are never alone in the dark. There is always God there, the constant light of Love which brightens, warms, and saves.

The “enemy” is not a legitimate threat. It will never beat us. With God we will rise, shine, and win!
