“Those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40: 31, Holman Christian Standard Bible)
Trust is renewal. Trust is release. Trust is an escape. Trust is freedom.
When we feel battered or weakened by life and circumstances; when we find ourselves feeling low, lost, our spirits beaten down, we can take one decisive action. We can choose to trust God.
This decision is simple, yet profound. It is agreeing to let God be in control. It is turning from the analysis of our lives through what the senses want to tell us or what time seems to report. Trusting God is settling into being who God made us to be—His children, the object and expression of His Love.
This aligns us with the harmony and progress that is God’s law. It puts the wind under us, lifting us up, giving us inspiration, new insights, hope, followed by expectation, even exultation.
We can turn away from the picture of distress and despair, the burden of personal control, and let God do what He does—strengthen us, guide us, lift us up until we are soaring like eagles, free and alive to the Life that is Love.
