“Put up with one another. Forgive. Pardon any offenses against one another, as the Lord has pardoned you, because you should act in kind. But above all these, put on love! Love is the perfect tie to bind these together.” (Colossians 3: 13-14, the Voice)

Let’s really try to get along. Well, let’s more than try! Let’s do it, because we can and because it is what God made us to do. Our goodness, kindness, and forgiveness honors God and His creation. We were made to dwell together in harmony, as one perfect community of God’s ideas. And we have the joy to express this and to reaffirm it through making conscious choices each day, each hour, that bless others and also ourselves.

God is always merciful and loving to us. He is ready to show us the better way, to lead us out of hopelessness and despair, and into our true life—one of purpose, power, and peace.

We may find certain people difficult or their views hard to handle. We can start by remembering that we have not always ourselves made perfect human choices; we have not always known our way or behaved impeccably. Yet, God has continued to love us and has helped us to progress, to learn from our mistakes. We can give the same grace to others. In this way, we prove that what God has given us really matters, that we have truly felt and received His love enough to utilize it toward others.

We can be kind and helpful. We can learn to forgive. But above all of these, we simply can accept Love as part of what and who we are. We can give it freely, practice it daily. We can cherish love and its ability to heal and help.

Love is the key, the answer, and we have it. Use it with eagerness, for it always opens the door to heaven.
