“Moreover we know that to those who love God, who are called according to his plan, everything that happens fits into a pattern for good.”  (Romans 8: 28, J. B. Phillips New Testament)

God has a purpose for us. We are called, by Love, to fulfill it. This divine demand is not obscure or difficult. It isn’t something unnatural to us or uncomfortable for us. God’s intention for us is to be what He made us to be, to express His qualities in ways that harmonize with others and that show forth His governing grace.

As we love God, good, we are aligned with God’s plan. We are walking along in it, step by step, and He is leading, unfolding each next thought and action in a way that is timely and reasonable. We can trust that God’s Love has both awakened us to what is right and is protecting us from what is wrong. We are safe in His purpose because Love is its motive and method.

There is a “pattern for good” that we can rely on. Even when at times it feels as if things are not going as we expected, or that challenges arise, God’s prevailing Truth is still causing us to progress. The symphony’s seeming dissonances only highlight more profoundly the harmonious resolution.

You are a part of God’s plan. You and your life fit perfectly and purposefully into His design of Life, the eternally unfolding activity of His Love.
