“To divest thought of false trusts and material evidences in order that the spiritual facts of being may appear, — this is the great attainment by means of which we shall sweep away the false and give place to the true.” (Science and Health, page 428)
If we want our house to be clean and ready for new furnishings, we have to clear out the old and make room for the fresh upgrade. Just so, if we want to begin to see the spiritual facts of our lives, we have to free up our consciousness and make room for the good news.
And this means divesting our thinking of things we may cherish. It means giving up the habitual way we think about ourselves, others, and life. The material evidence isn’t fact. The earth may look flat, but that’s not reality. And the unchanging reality of Life is greater and more vital than those dusty things we’ve become so attached to, even when they don’t really serve us at all.
If we want to progress out of the small and dark space that mortal life would present to us and evade the demise it portends, we must consciously refrain from cluttering our minds with fear, darkness, limit, the old lies about our lives.
Instead, let’s allow the Truth, the spiritual facts of our immortality and of God’s loving power, to furnish our thoughts. Let’s replace the critical, the negative, the dark, with the expectant, the graceful, the bright and colorful promises of Truth.
