“To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth.” (John 18: 37)
Jesus knew exactly what his purpose was. He was born to be a living witness to the Truth. That Truth was God’s presence and power and his own constant oneness with Him. Jesus’s divine intention was to show forth the Life that is God, Love.
Why were we born? What is our purpose? Is it any less holy? Is it any less great, needed, and God-sanctioned?
I believe that just as Jesus always demonstrated what he taught, his word was a precious and powerful gift of heavenly awareness to the earthly thought. He was showing us, by example, what is true for each of us. We are in the world for the same fundamental reason Jesus described and proved. We, too, are here to bear witness to the Truth of God, and of man and woman as His image and expression.
You are not living a pointless, limited, or confusing life. You are living here and now as the very witness to God’s Truth of eternal Being. Your daily walk may seem small and inconsequential at times, but it is truly no less great than the Master’s, for we are also the sons and daughters of God. We are uniquely yet equally the brilliant proof that God is All, that He is One, and that He is Love.
Think about that and realize this divine purpose isn’t a burden. A witness doesn’t make Truth. He only recognizes it, acknowledges it as valid, and acts in accord with what he sees. Own up. You are here for a very sacred and wonderful reason and you were made to fulfill it naturally and now.
