Daily Inspiration, November 14th

“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.” (Ezekiel 36: 26)

God will renew and refresh us. Our lives are subject to His loving activity upon us and within us. Nothing about us is allowed to remain hard and unyielding, ignorant and weary, angry and hopeless. God will not tolerate ideas of His own which do not accurately express His tender nature and His demand for goodness.

We may feel at times that there are too many human disappointments, too many resentments and fears, for us to release our hearts to Love’s comfort and promises. But God doesn’t try to make an old and damaged heart or an old and damaged individual into a better one. He gives us a brand new heart, a new awareness and acceptance of His Life, His embracing goodness and Love. He reminds us of what Life really is and why it is worth cherishing, living, sharing.

Let’s be ready to give up that heart of stone, that stubborn need to cling to our pains and worries and habitual fears, and to let God give us a loving heart, one that not only can receive freely and gratefully of His goodness and Love, but which has the powerful ability by giving up self-concerns, to perceive the needs of others and so to give of that tender heart’s own natural and boundless ability to love, to bless, and to heal.
