Daily Inspiration, October 4th

“And his allowance was a continual allowance given him of the king, a daily rate for every day, all the days of his life.” (II Kings 25: 30)

This describes our own inheritance and expectation. We are given an allowance, a daily bestowing of good, needs met, and love provided, and we will never be without this holy per diem.

The king, our governing God and our very own Father-Mother, is always giving us what is right and necessary, at just the right time and sufficiently. This verse is a reminder of our divine right and should be our grateful expectancy. It is also the most wonderful reason why we can stop fearing forward or judging backward, and begin to simply trust in this moment and see the good unfold.

God fed Moses and his followers with manna. This was the king’s provision for their journey as they sought their promised land. It appeared every morning and it was just right for their sustenance. They could come to expect its blessings and to never be disappointed. As we seek our promised land; as we make our way in what may feel like an uncertain and meandering pathway of human experience, we can rely on each day’s provision to continue.

This gift of goodness is inspiration, guidance, practical needs met in ways foreseen and unforeseen, and an abundant and non-stop Love that God has for us. This outpouring doesn’t need to be hoarded and its continuity can’t be lost. It never runs out. We are safe and sound now. Be still in this moment, trust what you are receiving, and use and share it freely! There is more on the way in our new tomorrow!

“For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.” (Galatians 5: 13, New Living Translation)

Freedom is a divine right. The Christ came revealing the good news to us. We have received this loving message telling us that we were born of God’s own Life and Love, and therefore are free and can live accordingly.

This freedom is our divine inheritance. We should be careful not to sully this gift by using it to behave in a way that doesn’t fully honor its Source, or dignify us as the blessed and beautiful sons and daughters that we are. We are not in bondage to sense or to any other man’s opinions of us. This isn’t a cause for arrogance or selfish abandon. It is a reason for humility, gratitude, and compassion.

For the freedom we have comes of Love itself. It is because of Love that we are free, and it is through Love that we truly express and feel those benefits. In serving one another, caring for others as we are led to; in sharing our affection, respect, and kindness freely, do we also feel free ourselves, right, and satisfied.

Accept your freedom and live it with grateful joy. Share the good news with others and let them join you in your happy dance of Life!

“The devotion of thought to an honest achievement makes the achievement possible.” (Science and Health, page 199)

Anything is possible. Your aspirations can become reality. Your vision for life is not a pipe dream. The task that looms large before you can be accomplished.

And this achievement doesn’t require superhuman effort or some miraculous act of the divine. What it does require is simply the devotion of thought to it. Any idea that has the rightness of God behind it, that is founded on goodness or even on the kindness of necessity, can be accomplished. What we need is our honest and earnest dedication to the idea, our faithfulness to what we have been led to achieve.

This thought-focus is not always about immediate or urgent action, and it isn’t about fixation or worry. What it is about is continuing to believe. It is reminding ourselves that good intentions come of God, and with Him as the Source, we can expect completeness and success as we go forward with Him. This consecration of thought is not obsession. It is simply a recognition that with God behind us, we cannot fail. It is that nurturing within consciousness of what we have been guided to do, and continuing to listen for the right next step.

Anything is possible. There is no impossible to God.

“Man is the family name for all ideas, —the sons and daughters of God.” (Science and Health, page 515)

God created man. He created a family. Out of His Love and His Life, God formed a clan of individual ideas joined by the same heritage. Our God is Mother to all of us, the very Love that unconditionally loves us, nurtures us, keeps us comforted and happy. Our God is a faithful Father, protecting us, instructing us, guiding us safely in His Life.

We are the sons and daughters of divine Love. And we are a family. We are related to one another by the unbreakable, untouchable bonds of Spirit. We have the same Parent, one from Whom we have all naturally inherited every good quality, and the ability and necessity to express this glorious nature as His offspring, the proof of Life and Love.

Isn’t it wonderful to recognize that we are family? If we really looked upon others as our honest-to-God brothers and sisters, wouldn’t we feel differently about them? Wouldn’t we be more willing to love them, see the best in them, embrace them in thought and even literally? Wouldn’t we be ready to stand up and protect our family, defend them from being falsely accused, put down, bullied by others or by material experience?

And wouldn’t we also realize that we ourselves are children of goodness and righteousness? We are the worthy and necessary witness-bearers to God’s own legacy of harmony, unity, peace, and pure and healing Love.

“Keep on being faithful to what you were taught and to what you believed. After all, you know who taught you these things.” (II Timothy 3: 14, Contemporary English Version)

This is a precious reminder that we often really need. It seems that it’s easy to get inspired at one moment, aflame with energy and gratitude and eagerness to go forward in our understanding, and then to lose that devotion and desire.

The world would try to distract us and personal sense would accuse us of being too slow, too flighty, too busy, too overwhelmed to be able to stay true to our vision. But the fact is, it is not our vision. In fact, it is not our capacity or the perfect human situation that makes the Truth enduring and available and demonstrable in our lives. It is God’s presence and authority. It is His vision and He has given us everything needed to continue in it.

Stay faithful to the awareness that God’s glorious Christ has revealed something wonderful to you. Recognize that this consciousness of Love you felt was and continues to be legitimate, for it came of the very Truth itself, to tell you what is real and what is yours. You can renew your consecration daily by remembering what you heard and felt—by consciously, joyfully, gratefully cherishing the message from God faithfully calling you His beloved.

Daily Inspiration, September 15th

“Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life.” (Galatians 6: 4-5, The Message Bible)

Such good advice, Paul! If we take this inspired message at its word, we have a wonderful blueprint for success and for satisfaction as well.

Don’t be afraid to explore. Don’t be timid about delving wholeheartedly into what rests in the core of you—that divine intention within you that belongs only to you. Take a careful look within, with the light of God’s Love leading you, and discover what makes your heart sing and your juices really flow. Be patient in this inward journey, but don’t let it stop you from beginning to plant the seeds as they start to show themselves to you.

This consciousness of your own purpose is a wonderful thing. Discovering its power and connecting with your most authentic self and what that means for the world, is invigorating. But as Paul reminds us, no need to get all puffed up about it! It is God’s light that is bursting forth. He made you to be what you are and to be you in the most magnificent and healing and productive way possible for all. This is His gift to us and, blessedly, His Love and power and guidance remain with that gift for us to lean on along the way.

You aren’t like anyone else, nor will your life look like theirs. It shouldn’t. How interesting a God would God be if He paraded out a bunch of very productive clones? Keep focused on knowing yourself, as God made you, and stay the course with Him and His grand design. Be creative. In other words, stretch beyond your initial expectations for yourself, to the really majestic way in which you can live your life and praise God with it.

You will then bless the world naturally yet powerfully as well!

Daily Inspiration, September 13th

“The footsteps of thought, rising above material stand-points, are slow, and portend a long night to the traveler; but the angels of His presence—the spiritual intuitions that tell us when ‘the night is far spent, the day is at hand’—are our guardians in the gloom.” (Science and Health, page 174)

Human thought takes baby steps. Often it seems as if we merely plod along from one idea to another, wondering if we are really even getting anywhere. The traveler who journeys earnestly from a belief in limits to the land of opportunity—the true state of Life in all its fullness and joy—may encounter some long nights of uncertainty and frustration.

But we have companions on the way, and they know we will make it to our destination. Those spiritual intuitions—those angels sent to attend us—are not only our cheerleaders, letting us know we can make it to the higher ground; they are also the very sweet guides who are pointing out the beautiful details on our journey. These divine ideas indicate what we are learning, the gifts we are attaining, and the goodness we are naturally sharing with others we encounter along the way.

These angels of His presence remind us that we are in His presence; that no matter where we may feel we are as we seek out more well-being, peace, happiness, contentment, purpose, we are doing it all in God’s own land. Our trek occurs within God’s Love. We can’t be separate from it, even if we don’t always see its fullness. We are already home as our angels keep reminding us.

Appreciate each thoughtful footstep, slow or fast, expressing God’s certain purpose and feeling His tender grace.

Daily Inspiration, September 8th

“All who follow the leading of God’s Spirit are God’s own sons. Nor are you meant to relapse into the old slavish attitude of fear—you have been adopted into the very family circle of God and you can say with a full heart, ‘Father, my Father.’” (Romans 8: 14-15, JB Phillips New Testament)

Remember who you are. You are the child of God. You have a permanent position in this divine family, joined together naturally by this conscious acceptance of your heritage. We have agreed to the Truth of our birth. We have chosen to be true to ourselves as the very offspring of goodness, of light, of Spirit, and of Love.

This awareness of our relationship with the divine Source of All makes us fearless and free. We know that we have full admission into that family circle of God, where we absolutely belong. It is our true place and our real nature to be children of all that is right and good and limitless, and to express those qualities easily and with authority. We carry forth the name of Christ within us; we are the children of God’s Love.

So, don’t be tempted to even try to be who you are not. Don’t agree to fearfulness and doubt and self-criticism and resentment. Don’t ever for a moment think that you are alone or abandoned or without love. You are God’s own and you can’t change that. You can with a full heart turn to God and know Him to be your Father, your Mother, the One Who made you and Who tenderly and powerfully loves you always and right now.

“I am the Lord your God, who teaches you how to succeed, who directs you in the path by which you should go.” (Isaiah 48: 17, International Standard Version)

God is always guiding us. He is giving us new inspiration each day to lead us toward the higher goal, the truest and most satisfying life, and one which most glorifies His own goodness and Love. We are the living evidence that God is All, and He is faithful in assuring that we are expressing this Truth rightly and completely.

God is our Mind and our Life. We have an immediate connection with the very Source of all right information.  Human ingenuity and planning and weighing and accumulating information, is not nearly as efficient as simply listening to our loving and wise Mind and allowing Him to naturally show us the way we must go.

And I love that we are not only given the “where”—the goal, the destination, the result or quality we hope to gain or feel—but He is also right here instructing us just “how” to do this. God is constantly teaching us just how best to succeed. He is informing us with kindness as well as authority, the best way in which to be what He has caused us to be. God’s Word is exposing daily the limits and lies that would try to hinder our success, and by doing so effectively revealing the Truth of our potential, our inspired thought, our ability to achieve.

God opens our eyes to brilliant and boundless ideas and opportunities and gives us that confidence to go forward that comes of knowing we are at one with His ideal purpose and His perfect Love.

Daily Inspiration, September 1st

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” (John 14: 27, New Living Translation)

Jesus gave his followers a special treasure. His teachings and his living love bestowed upon his disciples an enduring peace, one that transcended human circumstances and was the ready solution for all fear.

Jesus knew the world would offer plenty of enticements to satisfaction and joy. It calls each of us often to look in every direction for a sense of settled certainty and comfort. And while earthly hopes can lead us to new horizons and experiences, these very goals can bring with them confusion, overwhelm, loneliness, and often a continued yearning for more.

The Christ brought a solution to that unsettled state of being. He revealed the Truth of our oneness with God, our spiritual being and our divine sonship. Jesus demonstrated that this very Christ-consciousness was a constant and ready sanctuary for the thought and a glow of tender love in the heart. This peace was not personal to Jesus, but the universal reality of Life that Jesus revealed so beautifully and proved through his own life and resurrection.

Don’t be timid and don’t delay. Claim this peace that is within you. The outside world will try to distract you from it, but the Truth is still there, assuring you that you are the child of Love and Life and that all is, indeed, well.
