Daily Inspiration, August 10th

“Such a large crowd of witnesses is all around us! So we must get rid of everything that slows us down, especially the sin that just won’t let go. And we must be determined to run the race that is ahead of us.” (Hebrews 12:1, Contemporary English Version)

We have a responsibility to move forward, to progress, and to make a difference. We are being called to a higher goal than merely slogging through the days, settling for less than what is freeing, right, and healing for us and for all. Don’t think for a minute that you are not one with a mission, for indeed you are. And it is a divine intention that is powerful as well as individually satisfying.

This “large crowd of witnesses” Paul speaks of here are those inspired prophets and spiritual seekers who have actively testified to Truth with their very being. These biblical leaders as well as those in our own era, are proof of the Principle—that Truth of God as All, as good, and as Love.

Will we merely leave what they have given us untended, unexpressed, because we don’t believe we are good enough, ready enough, or motivated enough? Or will we trust that what these inspired ones have declared and proved is our model going forward, and that our gratitude for this gift is that we keep it alive?

What is it that slows us in this race, this confident journey forward in doing good, as God guides us individually? The “sin” that won’t let go is our buying into a belief that we are separate from God, attracted to evil, full of guilt and shame. Let’s drop that baggage. It is the lie about you and it is the lie about God. He made you to shine, to bear witness to His Christ, His ongoing purpose to shine light in the darkness and awaken humanity to their true goodness, harmony, and freedom!

Daily Inspiration, August 8th

“…step by step will those who trust Him find that ‘God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.’” (Science and Health, page 444)

Trusting God will reveal a protection and confidence in our lives. As we let go of personal control or a feeling of being at the mercy of material events and persons, we can then lean on God, the One Mind Who is reliable, wise, loving, and omnipotent—the only true power.

Let’s learn to do this. Step by step. Day by day. Hour by hour. It may sometimes seem difficult to have this kind of faith in Spirit, in what we may not initially be able to see with our eyes or grasp fully through human thinking. But we have the wonderful opportunity each moment to begin to put this trust into practice. We have the occasion each hour to decide whether to succumb to discouragement and fear about life, or to turn to God for our refuge, our strength, our very present help in any kind of trouble.

Try it. See what it feels like to let go of preconceived ideas and fears and to let God reveal His goodness, abundance, and Love to you. One step at a time, walk with Him. Don’t try to get ahead of Him nor cower behind Him. You are always being accompanied by divine Love. Trust this Love to be there with answers. Trust yourself to hear them. Try loosening your grip and handing over the reins to God. I think you’ll find the ride is much freer, more progressive, and full of delightful, insightful surprises and healing goodness to see and experience!

Daily Inspiration, August 3rd

“God will command his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will carry you in their arms, and you won’t hurt your feet on the stones.” (Psalms 91: 11-12, Contemporary English Version)

You are safe. God’s presence is always with us, and He is our Father and Mother, the Love that loves us perpetually. God is unfailingly preserving us as His own precious and beloved ideas, the very natural and necessary evidence of His own Being.

And so, God commands His angels to be with us. His active qualities, inspiration, and wisdom are sent forth in just the way that is needed. Those angels proceed from God and have the impregnable strength and unshakeable conviction of His Principle. They protect us fully because they are backed by divine law. We are embraced in these angel wings, an invulnerable armor against any attack, and a sweet and gentle caress of comfort as well.

Even when we feel we are traversing difficult terrain in our lives—fearing our own ability to navigate things, and to do so without pain and faltering—God’s angels come with His own intention of Life and Love, and carry us over those challenges. They move us forward progressively, without the burden and suffering that willfulness and ego can bring.

Trust God and the precision and immediacy of His angels. They are with you wherever you go. You are loved and you are safe.

Daily Inspiration, August 1st

“He knows the number of the stars. He gives names to all of them.” (Psalms 147: 4, New Life Translation)

Isn’t it wonderful to realize that God, the divine Mind, knows all? What a comfort and joy to recognize that while we may not know every detail of life, the cosmos, and even ourselves, God absolutely does!

God designed each idea that exists. There was no randomness to His creation and He hasn’t let one of His concepts out of His sight. Each star in the heavens and each celestial soul, called man and woman, has a very specific name and a very precious place in His Mind. God knows exactly who we are. He calls us by our true name, the unique and magnificent and special nature that He made and loves.

Each idea is accounted for. Each has been made for a reason. The innumerable infinitude of God’s expression is not a concern to Him. His consciousness is able to easily embrace each one, to know its identity and purpose, and to love it—each one of us—with utter joy and focused attention.

What is your name? God knows it! Listen as He calls you by your true appellation, one that suits you perfectly—His glorious name of Love!

Daily Inspiration, July 27th

“So I say to you, ask and keep on asking, and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking, and you will find; knock and keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.” (Luke 11: 9, Amplified Bible)

This verse is a call to persistent action. It is also a promise that our continuous seeking will give us answers, healing, peace. This surely means that we must be earnest in this search for Truth, and that we can’t give up too soon.

God answers our prayers and gives us inspiration and wisdom and guidance when we look to Him for these revelations of His goodness. We mustn’t be half-hearted in our desire to gain what God has to give us, and we can’t keep asking the world for a second opinion. This faithful pursuit of Truth means that we have an ongoing relationship with our Father-Mother. It means that we know that in all things, He is going to lead us, show us the right way, and instruct us, moment by moment.

Let each asking be a deepening of trust. Let each inspiration compel you to seek out more, and to utilize and be grateful for all that you are receiving. This seeking and asking is not a cry in the dark, lonely and uncertain, it is a walk and conversation with Love, and a sweet promise that this right and joyous journey will continue, safely and beautifully and progressively.

Daily Inspiration, July 25th

“The Lord God is my strength [my source of courage, my invincible army]; He has made my feet [steady and sure] like hinds’ feet and makes me walk [forward with spiritual confidence] on my high places [of challenge and responsibility].” (Habakkuk 3: 19, Amplified Bible)

We have a sure and steady support at all times. God had made us able to transcend the challenges that seem to confront us and to do it with agility and grace.

Believe this! We are always at one with God, and He is all-powerful, all-good, and wise. He has given us not only His Love, but also confidence, poise, and clarity. A “hind” in this reference is a female deer. She is able to place her back feet exactly where her front feet have stepped. This gives her the ability to run securely and not get off track. She can scale difficult terrain with ease.

We can do this as well! We have God’s progressive purpose guiding us forward. His Love is keeping us steady and safe and peaceful. His Spirit is carrying us onward and upward in the very way that is just right.

We may feel that we are clumsy and confused at times, but that doesn’t really describe you at all. With God, you are fearless and free, like that lovely doe, traversing the heights of the mountain of life confidently, triumphantly, and with eagerness and joy!

Why Your Journey Matters

In my walk of life, I’ve learned one thing that I think is vital to keep in mind. It helps me greet others with more grace and openness and non-judgment. And it also brings out in me more confidence and conscious self-worth.

Here’s this precious idea: “Anyone’s journey is as unique and valuable as another’s journey.”

We may be proud of the lives we’ve led. Or we may feel full of regret and disappointment over our past. We might see others as having it all where we don’t. Or we might, on the other hand, think another just doesn’t have what it takes, or that they are less seasoned or wise. It may seem to us that they don’t have experiences that we can relate to or that they don’t get where we’re coming from. But all of that is judgment. And that means it is limited and limiting. When we consciously give up that habit of judging, we can see more of what is really going on and benefit from this clearer perspective.

In truth, anyone’s life experiences are only a surface presentation. What we have gone through outwardly, and what has transpired for us mentally, emotionally, and spiritually are not the same things. The series of events and circumstances aren’t who we are or what we’ve become. We are so much more.

But, on the other hand, those experiences have helped to craft the perfect you that has arrived into this day, ready for its blessings. I don’t believe that God gives us challenges, but I do think that we are today the evidence of what those challenges have cultivated in us, shaped, molded, shined up, polished, and refined. Your experiences and mine are valuable in that they have brought out in us this very glorious idea that is needed, right, and beautiful for today. It behooves us to know the grandness of that, the rightness of it, and to own our journey for what it has awakened us to, how it has informed us about who we really are, what we really love, and why we are unlike anyone else in the universe.

And then take that further by recognizing that this very same principle of Life is all around you. We all have these journeys—these spiritual journeys, really, that have connected the dots in our lives to come out with this lovely arc leading to where we are today, the rich pot of golden character at the end of our colorful rainbow. The details make for a fascinating story, and we should certainly treasure the travels of our life. But, I think that the most important thing is that we are all here in this day, with that journey bringing us to this scenic viewpoint, ready to move forward.

Everyone’s experience is worthy and precious. Each of us is on a unique path, one that we can’t escape, and that will keep guiding us home. Our lives are the special road we take in order to become more acquainted with the Truth of our being, with Love, and with our special mission and place in the grand scheme of things.

Value your story! Isn’t it funny how we often don’t think of ourselves as really having accomplished anything? Yet, we find that when we open up and tell our story to another—the human one with all its stuff and nonsense even—others find it intriguing, instructive, inspiring, even fascinating. It often takes me relating my own life events to another to see that it is actually kind of unusual and interesting! You see, we all have facets of discovery that are unlike anyone else’s, and that means our life stories with us as the main character, are truly unique and wonderfully captivating.

And, again, the point to know today is that the story up till now has put you and I at a moment of amazing possibilities. Embrace this space of opportunity. You have wisdom through your experiences. You have greater understanding and likely an even deeper conviction to live forward with more clarity on what you can do and be, and with a greater awareness of what is truly important and meaningful.

My life has been all over the map. On the face of it, it seems like I really was clueless about what I wanted from minute to minute. But when I sit still now, breathe, and reflect on it, I realize that everything was leading me to this point, and this moment is a powerful one. Being conscious of who we are, gives us power. Being aware of the unique and valuable asset that you are not only for your own life and those in your circle, but for the world, is a magnificent thing.  Your journey may veer around, but it has lead you to today’s perfect alignment of the stars, so to speak—the ideal and harmonious collaboration of ideas and experiences that is here to sing in your life and to bring something wonderful to the world as well.

And that greatness you have to offer in this moment isn’t out there on its own. Our journeys, while varied, have a quality of unity behind them. By that I mean, that our differences, when honored and expressed as God made them to be, are designed to blend beautifully, for the good of all. We each have a perfect part to play, and each of us is needed, necessary, and equally awesome.

How do we take our journeys, love them, and discover what’s next? Here’s an exercise that might help:

Write down a list of 5 or 10 high points, major choices, seminal moments, and even what you deem as low points in your life journey so far. These might compose full chapters in your life story, or just be highlighted moments in those chapters. Next to each of those, jot down one word that is your takeaway from that experience or moment. For example, what did you overcome? What is the feeling now when you think of it? What did you learn from it about yourself? What is clearer now? What word describes that whole experience to you as you reflect back on it?

Now treasure all those words, those ideas and feelings. See the small victories and growth and new awareness. Also look for fresh insights on the bigger picture of things, the theme of the story. Consciously cherish that life journey for the wisdom you may now have about it. And sit still with your amazing story, and think about what makes sense to you now. What new chapter feels like the next right thing, the heart and soul thing, the thing that makes you come to life? What makes sense right now, knowing what you know, and being who you truly are?

We can’t edit our old human story, but we can love it and learn from it. We can connect the spiritual dots and see what kind of a picture develops. Then we can pause and let our soul guide us to what makes perfect sense and let the Truth of us within guide us forward.

Your journey has only just begun! The best part is ahead of you. Know that. Believe that. Agree with the Truth of your magnificence. Choose a great next adventure, and take the first step toward it. We’re in this together, kids! Let’s make it a good day, a good life, a good world. This is our moment!

Daily Inspiration, July 20th

“And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us.” (II Corinthians 1: 10, New Living Translation)

God’s hand is always ready to save us. We are constantly in His sight and we can trust His readiness and His faithful care for us.

We may at times feel that we are in a hopeless situation and that there is no way out of it. But God’s power, wisdom, and Love does not see such limits. We likely can look back at other points in our lives where we felt we would be lost, and yet there was a rescue, an unexpected uplift, new opportunity, a saving gift of grace. In those times, God rescued us from that sense of despair and into gratitude.

And He will do it again. And again. And again. We can continue to place our confidence in a power beyond the human, the material and mortal beliefs about life, and be saved by the divine reality. God’s presence is ever with us and His Love is always for us. Don’t be afraid. Don’t accept the threats against your peace, no matter how aggressive they may seem. Get ready for a perfect and timely rescue!

Daily Inspiration, July 18th

“We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ. It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God.” (II Corinthians 3: 4-5, New Living Translation)

We can accomplish amazing things! We are called to do much good with our lives. The inspired mission we each have been given, uniquely and powerfully, is not one that relies on personal experience or education or on the endorsement of others.

Our ability, our qualification to do great things, comes from God. He Himself has built us with true capacity and given us His stamp of approval. And so, we can have confidence in ourselves and our lives as we trust. God’s purpose for us comes with His wisdom, power, and guarantee of success. It isn’t about what we think we know or do not know, but about what God is and does.

We are qualified by God—by His hand in creating us and the constancy of His hand on us, supporting and guiding, as we do His work. When we seek to do good, we align with God. We are His representatives; we don’t walk into any circumstance or situation on our own. We bring with us the whole of God’s intention, His mandate, and His sure ability to carry it out.

Confidence is yours to claim. This is not bravado or arrogance. It is release, reliance, a grateful and active trust in God as the One Who called us to do magnificent things and to do them for and with and in Him—in glorious Life and powerful Love!

Daily Inspiration, July 13th

“…let the loveliness of our Lord, our God, rest on us, confirming the work that we do. Oh, yes. Affirm the work that we do!” (Psalms 90: 17, Message Bible)

We often yearn for validation, for affirmations from others that we are doing well and that we are valuable. We seek others’ approval and react to opinions that are critical or unsupportive.

But, let’s begin to look beyond the judgment of other people and gain a confirmation about ourselves and our work that is truly legitimate, valid, and strengthening. We can, as the psalmist did, seek that great smile of God to assure us in our lives. God made us for His highest purpose, and gave us everything needed to faithfully carry it out. He is pleased when we act like ourselves, like the gifted ideas that we uniquely and magnificently are.

Let God’s “loveliness”—that loving and beautiful and inspiring and beaming blessing—rest upon us. Let God’s confirming Word be what assures us of our success, our goodness, our worthiness, and that shines a light on our path going forward.

When we set aside the judgment of others and our own self-criticism, we can hear God’s voice, feel His hand guiding us, and have all the affirmation we really need to do good in the world, with satisfaction, productivity, fruitfulness, and joy.
