“My God has sent His angel and has shut the lions’ mouths so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent and blameless before Him;” (Daniel 6: 22, Amplified Bible Classic Edition)

Daniel’s safety came from his innocence. God’s angel was that spiritual awareness that reminded him of that blameless state. That angel voice let Daniel know not only that he was protected, but that there was nothing to fear.

Daniel was preserved as he stayed faithful to God, despite the threat of the hungry lions surrounding him. In this same way, we remain safe when we stay true to God and His strong defense of us. This means that we can also know our own innocence and what that means. When the evil would strike out at us—as disease, anger, attack, or even our own thought and behavior that may be less than upright—we can recognize that these ferocious lions, these fierce lies, can’t touch our true being.

We were made in God’s image. The Truth of us is that we are children, God’s beloved, and anything that would suggest danger or darkness or fear, has nothing on us. It is a false accusation. The punishing thoughts and feelings are not legitimate, and they cannot truly harm us.

Listen to those angels that see you for who you are. They know you are always faithful to God—always a faithful reflection of all that is good and right and blameless and safe and free!

“The purpose of [Jesus’s] great life-work extends through time and includes universal humanity. Its Principle is infinite, reaching beyond the pale of a single period or of a limited following.” (Science and Health, page 328-329)

There is absolutely no limit to the reach and power of Jesus’s glorious words and works. His life was the dedicated expression of the Christ-message and proved a universal Principle, one that has no expiration date or restrictions on its availability.

The Truth is in every place and at all times. It is the active reality of God’s presence and power realized and honored. Jesus showed us that we are all children of God, equally ready to know this and to live out its promise. The healing and preaching of Jesus as well as his ultimate resurrection, are a gift to all. No one is left out.

This infinite Principle, declaring what Life really is and that Love is its essence and power, is not confined to time, space, or religious identification. This holy purpose of Jesus’s life was an active and precise proof of what is true and right and ready for each one of us.

How wonderfully uniting it is to realize that all of humanity, in every generation from the beginning of time, so-called, up to this moment and beyond, are joined in this living light and deserving of its rich blessings.

“The rays of infinite Truth, when gathered into the focus of ideas, bring light instantaneously, whereas a thousand years of human doctrines, hypotheses, and vague conjectures emit no such effulgence.” (Science and Health, page 504)

God’s Truth has precision and immediacy and power. His Word, received willingly and cherished above all, brings a clarity to thought and an impulse to action.

We can analyze and discuss things ad infinitum. We can delve into history and ask the experts on any subject for knowledge and guidance. We can consult with others and gain some insights based on their experiences or feelings. These actions may shed some light, but are they divine Truth? Do they give to us the unchallenged rightness that Truth alone knows and can express?

The rays of this Truth may be infinite, but they also are full of Love. As we open our thoughts and our hearts to God, we can gain specific insight, a sharp and focused revelation that is just right for us, in this moment, about this situation, and blessing all.

Let’s do less hypothesizing, comparing, reflecting on pros and cons, which give only a dim light when we are in a dark and confusing spot. Instead, let’s allow the pure and vibrant light of Truth to reveal reality, undiluted by conjecture, and full of God’s loving and powerful intention.

“Do as God does. After all, you are his dear children. Let love be your guide.” (Ephesians 5: 1, Contemporary English Version)

We are God’s children and His representatives. We are here to present His qualities to the world, to show God’s creation in its truest light and to bring honor to our Father-Mother.

So, we must do as God does. This doesn’t require us to be something unnatural or difficult, or to put on an act of high-minded righteousness. It means that we behave like ourselves, like the expressions of God that we are. We do this best by remembering our Oneness with Him. We are God’s offspring, but we are never thrown out into the world at some point in time to fend for ourselves. We are always with the Father and He is always with us.

So, we do as God does, with Him. And we know when we are right on target, in the grooves that are both comfortable and successful, when we feel and express Love. Love is our guide and our measure. God is Love. To do as God does, is to do what Love would do. It is to do what is impelled by divine Love which is always kind, just, wise, and therefore right, healing, and satisfying as well.

Daily Inspiration, May 3rd

“Man is God’s reflection, needing no cultivation, but ever beautiful and complete.” (Science and Health, page 527)

What would it feel like to stop trying to become something, someone, and instead relish the fact of what you already are?

God made us whole, complete, finished. He created us out of His own substance, wisdom, Love, and we are exactly what He intended. Nothing is lacking in us, and nothing can be lost. We remain fully intact and fully glorious because God is thus, and we are His reflection. We are the image of the Original, and the Original is flawless and beautiful.

We accurately express the nature of God and His goodness and Life. We can know this and begin to recognize that we don’t need anything outside of ourselves to make us into a success. We already are the very best. The joy is in discovering who we truly are. It is in being awake to every opportunity not to gain something we don’t have or regain something lost, but instead to claim and utilize what God has already given us and which remains secure for us in His faithful keeping.

God’s creation is just right, and Life is the constant revealing of this completeness, in new and glorious ways, actively reflected through you and me!

Daily Inspiration, May 1st

“As pressure and stress bear down on me, I find joy in your commands.” (Psalms 119: 143, New Living Translation)

Stress can seem like a daily part of experience. It may seem there is always some pressure to accomplish or to be in control or even to live up to some certain standard of perfection.

But this unkind burden and strain has its release in God. We have His commands to give us joy. For as we become conscious of God’s commands to honor Him alone, and to trust His presence and power, we are relieved of the false responsibility. For God is the Mind in charge and the One Who created and sustains all. His commands are to obey this law, to recognize God’s Allness, and by doing so, to set ourselves free to be.

To be what? To be free! To be what God intended that we be—expressions of His intention; manifestations of His activity; proof of His harmony, authority, and Love.

When we find ourselves feeling pressed, let’s take a pause and remember that God is in charge, and He is not burdened by Life, but is able to lead us in each moment to natural success, peace, and joy!

Daily Inspiration, April 26th

“Stop and consider God’s wonders.” (Job 37: 14)

The very first word of this message is so significant. Stop. Just begin with that word. Stop the busyness, the rush to do and to prove and to achieve. Stop the worrying, the analyzing, the onrush of thoughts and predictions and fears. Just stop.

And consider God’s wonders. Take a pause and contemplate God’s awesome creation. Look around you and take in the world’s beauties, the glories and intricacies of nature and of mankind. And then take that even further and deeper.

To stop and consider, is to be still and reflect. It is to remember God’s control and His Love; His governing kindness and His infinite Life. It is to truly take a precious moment to give up the ego that needs to create and accomplish and think its way through issues and days and years, and to honor the fact of God’s glorious certainty of All. It is also to simply be the radiant emanation of God that we naturally are. It is to rest, and to rest in beauty, peace, love, and gratitude.

Daily Inspiration, April 24th

“I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence!
If I go up to heaven, you are there… If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me.”
(Psalms 139: 7, 9-10, New Living Translation)

What a comfort to know that we can never be left alone. God’s presence is always with us, as this verse so poetically reminds us. There is no place in the heights of the skies or in the depths of despair, that we are without the Spirit of God. We are supported in all that we do and in all that we are.

What does this mean? It means we are forever accompanied by God’s Spirit, His infinite nature. God is Love and He is Life. These powerful qualities are always with us and in us. God is Truth and Mind, so we are carried on the wings of justice and governed by His law of enduring goodness. Wherever we go, we have His wisdom, guidance, intelligence, confidence.

God’s strength is always there to lean on. We can’t escape His Being and His conscious doing. God’s Spirit leads us, comforts us, lifts us, and there is no place we can ever go where He doesn’t go before us, preparing the way and guiding us home.

Daily Inspiration, April 19th

“Happy are the utterly sincere, for they will see God!” (Matthew 5: 7, JB Phillips New Testament)

Jesus’s sermon on the mount is a prescription not only for good behavior, but truly for JOY! The beatitudes share the ideal states of thought to receive that awareness of God. This consciousness is happiness, for it brings us home to our genuine selves, united with Love and Life, and at peace in being who we truly are.

To be utterly sincere; to be pure in heart—as other translations render this passage—is to be without ego and without judgment or artifice. When we are utterly sincere, we come to God and to others from a place of honesty. We don’t try to put on airs or showiness. We don’t attempt to be someone else nor are we motivated by selfishness.

And this very purity of thought and intention, being authentic and earnest, is a joy in itself. It means we are letting go of the burden of trying to be something we are not, and are actually accepting who we are, and living real and right. This aligns us with God. We clearly see Him because there is no mask to hide us, and no false ego to separate us from Him and His glories. And that is a happy thing!

Daily Inspiration, April 17th

“…it is just as the Scriptures say, ‘What God has planned for people who love him is more than eyes have seen or ears have heard. It has never even entered our minds!’” (I Corinthians 2: 9, Contemporary English Version)

Dream big! Keep your hopes high! Imagine greatness! Your mental images will still pale in comparison to God’s plans for you.

Isn’t that wonderful? We are being told here that there is a promise for us beyond what our human minds and physical senses would envision. God’s purpose for us is spiritual. It goes above and beyond those limits, and it is full of surprises, Soul’s own creativity for us coming out of God’s perfect Love.

What must we do to realize this goodness? The quote says that God has glorious plans for “people who love him.” The rich present and future belongs to us already, no matter what. Gaining access to this Life, recognizing it as ours and claiming the rewarding rightness of it all, requires us to love God. Loving Him means honoring Him, trusting Him, believing Him. It means accepting willingly His love for us and knowing also that we fully deserve it.
