Daily Inspiration, December 25th

“A child has been born for us. We have been given a son who will be our ruler. His names will be Wonderful Advisor and Mighty God, Eternal Father and Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9: 6, Contemporary English Version)

Awake to this exciting reality! We celebrate today the birth of something wonderful, mighty, and eternal. We cherish and rejoice that the Truth of God has been revealed and that it remains with us for all time!

Let’s make this Christmas day one that glitters with the recognition of goodness and love, of joy and peace, of kindness, humor, and freedom. The promise of Isaiah has been fulfilled. A child, the newborn Jesus, came to reveal our true relationship to God as His own offspring and beloved. This blessed man proved life to be deathless and taught us how to live like the sons and daughters of God that we also are.

Let’s not forget that this ruler, advisor, peace-bringer, and the very proof of the Father-Mother’s Love here on earth, is not an ancient miracle to adore like an old relic, a misty dream. TODAY this active ideal reigns. It is the living Truth to this hour, the newborn message of this very dawn. We can gratefully receive and open this gift of healing Love and we can also willingly, humbly, graciously share its blessing on this holiday and every holy day to come.

Daily Inspiration, October 11th

“Each successive stage of experience unfolds new views of divine goodness and love.” (Science and Health, page 66)

Let’s get a new perspective on the passage of years. Let’s take that negative concept of diminishing life, a tapering off of existence, and recognize what is really going on. Let’s wake up to the new views being offered every day, every hour, and see how rich and alive this really makes us.

For as our human experiences unfold, they teach and reveal new things to us. We gain wisdom, appreciation, a fuller sense of what matters and what is truly good and right. This is the journey of our spiritual life and it is always progressive. The mortal mind may be stuck in a sense of time and finiteness, but we are not mortals! We are grander than that. We can release ourselves from the grip of this limited mind and begin to realize what’s really happening.

Divine goodness and love is becoming clearer to us, more important, more vital and compelling. Allow that abundant display to be at the forefront of thought. Treasure the new awareness of self, others, what is valuable, and let this enlighten your days, lighten your load of cares, and give you the freedom to enjoy in the here and now.

Choose to change your vantage point. Let yourself be lifted above the fears and negative pictures and predictions about life. See the full view you are being offered, one that continues to grow, to live more honesty, to love more fully, and to see that Life never fails to bring us something new and fresh to appreciate and to share.

Daily Inspiration, October 9th

“The senses represent birth as untimely and death as irresistible, as if man were a weed growing apace or a flower withered by the sun and nipped by untimely frosts; but this is true only of a mortal, not of a man in God’s image and likeness.”  (Science and Health, page 265)

The picture of a mortal and of his life can feel limiting, depressing, dark. It is spread on a canvas of time, which would depict a road that tapers off, a life that is made less lovely by matter’s effects on the body and on experience.

But this image that the senses present is not reality. It is an alluring premise that mesmerizes us into believing in a selfhood that is apart from God, from Love, from the immortal Life that is the Truth of being. We can agree to the terms of life and death, as boxed within this thing called time and physicality, or we can choose to live the right, the real, the loving.

God made us in His image and likeness. The deception that we are relegated to something sad and brief only leads us to a consciousness that is fearful, one that causes us to live smaller and more tentative lives, perhaps cherishing moments but also believing that life is wrapped in a material shell rather than boundless, beautiful, free.

An awakened perspective about our true immortality can reveal more heaven to us, here and now. We can allow God to write the story of our lives rather than the unkindness of mortal sense, limitation, time, and fear.

Daily Inspiration, October 4th

“God blesses those people who grieve. They will find comfort!” (Matthew 5: 4, Contemporary English Version)

Comfort is coming to you! God is ever-present, and He is always active. His Love and His kindness are continually being expressed. We can’t fail to feel the warm embrace of God’s healing grace, especially when we are grieving.

Loss can shake our lives up. It can give us not only a sense of emptiness, but one of confusion, uncertainty, fear. We may lose a loved one, a relationship, an opportunity, a job, etc., but we may also find that we’ve lost some faith, clarity, familiarity, and expectation going forward.

But at this dark time, Jesus assured us, we are not abandoned. Comfort is at the ready, and this divine comfort includes more that condolences and human sympathy. It is the richness of Love that knows what we need, individually, in this moment, and fills that space with sweet ideas, empowering thoughts, joy-filled images and experiences, and an even deeper awareness of Life’s fullness than we may have appreciated before.

God blesses those who are mourning. Divine Love comes to us with its tender power, wiping tears, easing fears, and opening the way to healing, and to new vistas full of beauty and peace.

Daily Inspiration, October 2nd

“…Quiet. Listen obediently, Israel. This very day you have become the people of God, your God. Listen to the Voice of God, your God.” (Deuteronomy 27: 9-10, Message Bible)

Hush. Listen. Don’t miss what God is saying to you.

The voices in the world and the voices in your head may be telling you that you aren’t enough, that you are lost, missing something, without help or hope, or a failure. You may be hearing the hiss of limitation, age, fear.

Be still and tune in. Listen obediently. Obey Truth and Life by heeding it. Let God tell you what is really going on. Let Love remind you of who you are and why all that noise is a lie, an accusation, a distraction from the glory that is yours and that is you.

This very day you have become the people of your God. Today are you newly made, conceived and cherished afresh in God’s consciousness as His adored and the proof of His own intention. You are the child of the Mother-Father and you are like Her. You are today and always God’s very own offspring and representatives on earth.

Listen to that divine description. Heed it. And act like the people of God, the expressions of good, Life, and Love that you naturally and perpetually are!

Daily Inspiration, September 27th

“I know what you have done. See, I have given you a door flung wide open, which no man can close!” (Revelation 3: 8, JB Phillips New Testament)

The door is wide open! We can enter into God’s loving Life, which also means setting out into freedom!

God sees what we have done. He is aware of our receptive hearts and our willing minds. He knows our seeking and has given us our answer—that Christ-message of our own heritage and inheritance as the very children of God.

This gives us a key that opens the door wide, out of limitation and separation and fear and finiteness, and into the very Life that is God, the one that is rich, real, and ready. We have this Truth and it is this, as Jesus said, that sets us free.

And no man can close the door. No person’s action or personal opinion or long-held world belief can stop the Truth from being true. Nothing can exclude us from what God, the One Life and power, has guaranteed.

Realize your God-given freedom. Walk through that door without excuses or reservations or self-doubt or guilt. You are allowed to thrive, to live harmoniously, gloriously, magnificently. The door is not only open, it is WIDE open. You have no excuse. Let’s go!

Daily Inspiration, September 25th

“…it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God;” (Ephesians 2: 8, Amplified Bible)

Grace will lead you home. God’s rich and generous compassion is an outpouring from divine Love itself, and this Love isn’t bound up in human reasoning, emotion, and judgment. It is freely and generously expressed.

The grace of God is a gift that reveals to us who we truly are—children of God, one with Him, and made to reflect His nature. This reflection itself is grace, for it means that we are showing forth goodness because of our Source, not because of our own labor or effort.

And the awareness that dawns through grace, this sweet and awesome bestowal upon our thoughts and into our hearts, shows us heaven. It gives us a glimpse of our salvation, of the eternal life that is the Christ-Truth of our being. It is tenderness and mercy and it is also power and strength.

Grace is where Love is, and Love is where you are. Receive it without qualification or argument and let it lead you home to your own worthiness, contentment, and true peace.

Daily Inspiration, September 20th

“You know what sort of times we live in, and so you should live properly. It is time to wake up… Night is almost over, and day will soon appear. We must stop behaving as people do in the dark and be ready to live in the light.  So behave properly, as people do in the day.” (Romans 13: 11-13, Contemporary English Version)

It might seem to us that we are in a dark time, either personally or in the world at large. Despair and confusion may call us to be angry and upset. These feelings, while humanly honest and understandable, are not healing or helpful. They don’t raise up life around us nor do they bring us the peace and joy we most seek.

The times we live in are apparently not unique to this age. Paul spoke of them in his letter to the Romans centuries ago. It seems to me that such an era was one where turmoil and uncertainty was rising to the surface. While this might appear gloomy, it also glows with promise. This light that we must live in, as the early Christian workers chose to do, is one of enlightened thought.

This is the light that Jesus taught, that transcends time and trial. It is being true to our own nature—kindness, decency, peace, hope, helpfulness, and joy. It is not becoming a part of the darkness but thinking and behaving in contrast to it. It is being that pure beam of light that not only breaks through the blackness where we seem to be but shines beyond that to reflect on others and to awaken them to what is really going on.

The day will soon appear. The evil that seems so bold is powerless against the sunrise, the Truth that is Love and that we can readily, immediately, powerfully live and share.

Daily Inspiration, September 18th

“Let go of anger and leave rage behind! Don’t get upset—it will only lead to evil. Because evildoers will be eliminated, but those who hope in the Lord—they will possess the land.” (Psalms 37: 8-9, Common English Bible)

Do you feel like you are losing control of your life, and that other forces are taking over your peace, your sanity, your joy? These seeming powers are being given a life and an authority in our experience when we give in to rage. As we let evil’s appearances continue to upset us, our consciousness is submitting to the very thing we oppose and stoking the flame as well as keeping us in that fire.

Let that anger go. When we get mad and allow it to overtake us, we become part of that madness and subject our own thought to the tyranny that it brings. Evil has no legitimate power. Good is truly potent. Love is the way of Life, and it is also our truest state of being. So, to recognize God, good, as in control, we can settle into being happy and helpful, the way we really are. And this feels right and is productive.

The incinerating flames of rage end up singeing us. No, we can’t always completely avoid a righteous anger at what opposes goodness and Love, but let’s allow our awareness of evil to be a call to wipe it out. And that honest intention begins with calm and peaceful thinking and actions to follow that are clear, loving, and healing for us and for all.

Daily Inspiration, September 13th

“…if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life].” (II Corinthians 5: 17, Amplified Bible)

Spiritual awakening brings a new life! This assurance should calm us and also energize us.

It may seem either that we are stuck in a rut or that we are going through discomfort and fear for our future. Change may feel inevitable and it may make us afraid. Or it may be that we can’t get past our doubts, our human mistakes, our dreary sense of ourselves and of life’s prospects.

But a new life is at hand. And this refreshing new perspective and experience isn’t based on circumstances turning in our favor or in us running away or leaving this planet. This new you and the life that comes with it is reliant on the Christ. It is about the vision we are already receiving of God and of man, of ourselves, as His own children and the heirs of His goodness, His qualities, His limitless Life.

Acknowledge who you are. Recognize that you are joined to Christ, to that saving and true idea of yourself. Know that while the world’s views may try to hold you back, all the material resistance on earth can’t keep you from this advancement, for Spirit’s progress isn’t impeded by material forces, so called.

Let yourself wake up and accept today that you are being made new. You are becoming that butterfly, naturally, because you are coming to know yourself as God knows you—beautiful, free, worthy, precious, and loved!
