“The depth, breadth, height, might, majesty, and glory of infinite Love fill all space. That is enough!” (Science and Health, page 520)

Realize, relish, and release yourself to this wonderful declaration! Divine Love is filling all space. Love is what is going on and what has power. Love is the real substance of the universe, the essence and energy of Life.

No, it doesn’t look that way. Our material eyes and our personal sense of things seem to witness things that are very unloving or limiting. So, we find ourselves in complaint, fear, apathy, and argument. Often, we will try to reason our way to feeling better or acting nicer or having more hope or joy.

But let’s set aside all that confusing and complex and unreliable judging and ruminating for the gift of calm assurance. In Truth, Love’s depth and expansiveness, gloriousness and mightiness, are what constitute Life. Our Life. Love is at the heart of us and it is at hand to empower us and to comfort us. This Love is also embracing all, uniting us in the conscious Truth that we are all made of Love and One in this spiritual affection.

That is enough! This powerful awareness is surely sufficient to silence the worry and to open our minds and hearts to the true beauty and glory of Love’s creation, right here and now.

“Lord, I love your home, this shrine where the brilliant, dazzling splendor of your presence lives.” (Psalms 26: 8, the Living Bible)

What is this home that this verse speaks of? It can mean many things, but this description certainly evokes a sense of awe. We can envision this palace of God’s presence as one that is filled with wonderful things beyond compare.

This infinite space of God’s goodness is a shrine, one wherein we can truly honor and worship, lovingly revere and obey the Divine, the Holy Creator, the very Source of Life. This magnificent place is a cathedral that echoes with promise and songs of praise. It is a transcendent experience of holy connection and inspiration.

And this ultimate glory is also and truly a home. It is that abiding place for all God’s ideas, His children. It is Love. This is a dwelling where we are at once stimulated by the wonderful ideas God has created and shared just for us, and at the same time comforted, peaceful. We feel accepted, confident, serene, safe. It is quiet and intimate and hidden from the world and its judgments and fears.

Let’s rejoice that we are in this brilliant place right now. Settle in and enjoy the splendor and the serenity of your home with God.

“You, Lord, are my shepherd. I will never be in need. You let me rest in fields of green grass. You lead me to streams of peaceful water, and you refresh my life.” (Psalms 23: 1-3, Contemporary English Version)

This age-old metaphor of shepherd and sheep continues to bring comfort. We can imagine the guiding, watching caretaker keeping his flock nurtured, safe from danger, playful as well as peaceful.

And the sheep also expresses such beautiful qualities. Innocence. Trust. Obedience. Just sheer lovableness! The little lambs follow the one who knows what is best for them, what is right. They obey the guide who knows exactly where the peaceful waters are, and the fresh green fields.

We sometimes fight this whole idea. Being a sheep can suggest blindly following no matter what, going where everyone else goes, without a mind of one’s own. But with the Lord as our Shepherd, we are not ignorantly being ushered about. Our Shepherd knows better than we do, and we know this! It is our own conscious awareness of what this reliance means that allows us to be led, willingly, by the One Who Loves Us.

And this is not weak submissiveness. It is release. It is a joyous surrender to be led to the plushest meadows and to those waters that are reviving, renewing, refreshing. Our Shepherd, God, never loses His way, or loses one of His sheep. All our needs are met. Knowing this we not only can feed and feel secure, but we can also freely frolic in Life’s inviting and fragrant pastures!

“…and I praise you because of the wonderful way you created me. Everything you do is marvelous! Of this I have no doubt.” (Psalms 139: 14, Contemporary English Version)

Here is true confidence. And you have a right to it. You can accept and experience that true sense of certainty in yourself as you consciously recognize your Source.

This brings a rightful sense of power, without force or arrogance. It is yielding to the fact of God and His creation. He formed you wonderfully, to express His own qualities in a way that He intentionally conceived. And God Himself is the Spirit that carries out the marvelous life that is yours to live. He created you to give active evidence to His goodness, righteousness, and beauty.

We can be confident always because we are not self-created or self-maintained. Our success does not come through willfulness, but by our humble acceptance of who God made us to be. This is a cause for praise, and a release of doubts to a natural conviction, firmly based on God, the Almighty Truth of life!

“He delivered us and saved us and called us with a holy calling [a calling that leads to a consecrated life—a life set apart—a life of purpose], not because of our works [or because of any personal merit—we could do nothing to earn this], but because of His own purpose and grace [His amazing, undeserved favor] which was granted to us in Christ Jesus before the world began [eternal ages ago]…” (II Timothy 1: 9, Amplified Bible)

You have always had a holy purpose. God has a divine intention for you and the way in which you actively express His qualities, His Life, His Love.

We are uniquely blessed by our calling. We may feel that we don’t know what we are doing or exactly what will give our lives meaning, our hearts joy and contentment. But God does know us and what we can do, what best serves His design, the one which He has known forever, and which can’t be lost.

The fact that you may yearn to truly know what will make your life both sing and be impactful, is already a sign that God has made you with a very certain plan for which you are absolutely ready. And this, not because you have accomplished human things or proved yourself in some arbitrary way that society may venerate. It is because of His Love.

God’s amazing grace has made you to fulfill His purpose by being you. This is what the Christ-Truth reveals. We are each formed to bear witness to God in wonderfully singular ways, and there will always be a place prepared for us to express His goodness as only we can do. Your life is set apart, not because it is lonely or difficult, but because it is unlike anyone else’s and prepared especially for the beauty, the glory, that is you!

“And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.” (Ezekiel 36: 26, New Living Translation)

Today we may be thinking about love. Valentine’s Day brings to mind relationships we have, once had, or hope for.

This verse is a refreshing gift that goes beyond flowers, cards, and nice sentiments. It is God’s blessing to you from the depth of His Love and of His intention that you live as the expression of Himself—His goodness, peace, power.

And so whatever may make our hearts or those of others less than receptive to Love, less than grateful for Life, less than responsive to what is most right and needed, He takes away. God is at the ready today to show us how freeing it can be to let go of resentments, pride, and fear and to begin afresh with tenderness, gentleness, forgiveness.

For this new heart is one that can’t be broken. It isn’t built on material desires, but made of God’s changeless and boundless affection, the Love that is secure. Let’s celebrate Love today because it is the heart of you. It is the Truth of your being which unites you with all the Love there is, right here and now and always.

“Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ.” (Ephesians 5: 2, New Living Translation)

How do we live a life filled with love? It may seem as if we don’t really have control over that. We can certainly do our best to express compassion, affection, kindness toward our fellow man, but what about the unloving responses, the hateful things that we see going on out in the world?

We have our answer in this verse. The way is Christ. It is to follow that pure example to the best of our ability. For Jesus lived his life filled with love. It wasn’t personal love, general positivity, or a naïve approach to what was going on around him. Jesus lived the Christ, that identification every moment with God and His Love. This was the Life replete with Love that Jesus experienced. He felt the fulness of God’s affection and Jesus’s every thought and action proceeded from that conscious awareness.

We have the same oneness with God. We, too, have the natural ability to recognize and receive that great Love of God that is always at hand, and to know its power. We can allow that divine Love, that doesn’t judge or fear, to be shared in our daily walk. It can be seen in specific acts of kindness and gentle words, but even more so in that deep feeling of God’s own love within us. This is the Christ-Truth that can’t help but be felt, in healing ways, by others as well.

“…What can come between us and the love of God’s Anointed? Can troubles, hardships, persecution, hunger, poverty, danger, or even death? The answer is, absolutely nothing.” (Romans 8: 35, the Voice Translation)

What a wonderful promise and comforting assurance!

At times, we may feel that we are far from God and His Love. Mortal life presents so many things that would appear as obstacles to this peace, safety, joy.

But no matter what tries to get our attention and our focus, to pull us into fear and doubt, to a sense of lack or loss, we are truly never separate from the most powerful thing there is. Divine Love remains with us, steadfastly, and nothing, absolutely nothing, can come between us and this almighty force of good.

The love of God’s anointed is the Christ with us. It is that changeless Truth of our identity as the beloved image of God, not only near Him, but at one with all that He is. We are forever united with Life and Love, with understanding, with peace, with clarity. No troubles of the world can take us out of this place. It is our very identity. No more can we be separated from God than we can be removed from our own self.

An awareness of this Truth changes our perspective, turns us from the dark and to the light where healing is revealed and where gratitude joyously reigns.

“He called you out of darkness to experience his marvelous light, and now he claims you as his very own. He did this so that you would broadcast his glorious wonders throughout the world.” (I Peter 2: 9, the Passion Translation)

You have been called out of the shadows and into the sunshine! You have been invited to participate in Life as it was truly made to be. You are being beckoned to experience the healing reality of God’s goodness, of Truth, of divine Love and its active grace.

This marvelous light of God is the stellar fact that we are sons and daughters of God. You are in His presence, aware of what is good and true and loving and right, because you are His very own. It isn’t simply we that seek to be a part of God’s plan and embraced in His care, His attentive affection. God claims us.

He has an intention. You and I are the very representatives of His Word. We are the way in which God’s goodness is broadcast throughout the world. As we express our devotion to Love, the substance of God’s Life, we are actively sharing His own wonders. We come not merely as individuals saying positive things or being nice people. We are the very active evidence of God’s own Being. We are radiating naturally His powerful qualities and making an impact because we have agreed to be who we truly are—His beloved children of light.

“Let there be no more resentment, no more anger or temper, no more violent self-assertiveness, no more slander and no more malicious remarks. Be kind to each other, be understanding.” (Ephesians 4: 31-32, JB Phillips New Testament)

The conclusion of this admonition is surely a solution to any of the unlovely qualities identified in the opening. All the angry and violent assertions and reactions would not find a voice or an opportunity for expression were we to begin with kindness and understanding toward one another.

Let’s take this to heart, and also be alert to any self-righteousness. For to refrain from anger and yet to judge others for being less gentle, sweet, and kind than we are, is to lose the power of love, of genuine caring and a higher view of our fellow man. Let’s be consciously kind not only because it is the right thing to do, but because it leads to healing, reconciliation, and peace.

And this peace begins within and is active toward our own individual healing as well. For as we replace words and actions that are spiteful or angry with those that are caring, tender, thoughtful, we are being who we were made to be—children of God who can settle safely and serenely into helpfulness and peacemaking, because they naturally know and feel the power and presence of Love.
