“Worry in the heart of a man weighs it down, but a good word makes it glad.” (Proverbs 12: 25, New Life Version)

Fretting and fearing can bring such heaviness to our lives. We feel burdened and weary even when we are well-rested. We feel unhappy even when there is much good around us.

Let’s awake to the adverse effects of worrying and take heart! Allowing our minds to be focused on concerns, ruminating and fixating on troubles, is not doing us or anyone any good. There is wisdom in being alert to what needs healing in our thought and lives, but worrying is not healing. It can really feel like the opposite.

A good word can heal our hearts and bring peace to our experience as well. For that good word is the word of God, of Truth. As we choose to set aside our worry and instead listen for guidance, insight, and inspiration, this settles and calms and leads us to clarity, solutions, and gladness.

We can listen for the good word of God with grateful expectation. And we can also assist others, take the weight of care from them, by offering a good word to them—one that compassionately, understandingly, uplifts and encourages them and naturally brings us enlightenment and joy as well.

“God gives us what it takes to do all that we do. He makes us worthy to be the servants of his new agreement that comes from the Holy Spirit and not from a written Law. After all, the Law brings death, but the Spirit brings life.” (II Corinthians 3: 5-6, Contemporary English Version)

We have an agreement with God. This holy covenant is God’s established relationship with us, one that is built on Truth and Love, and made to endure.

Under this divine contract, we are worthy representatives of God’s Word and His works in our world. We come under His authority as we agree to our true nature, our genuine heritage as children of God, of Love, of Truth.

This is not about human laws or even religious doctrine. This inspired thought and healing behavior is natural to us as we abide in the very Spirit of God. It isn’t about human judgment or education or power. It is about a wonderful release to Love, that glorious spark of light within us that is ready to warm and brighten lives around us and our own as well.

That light of Truth, that kindness, receptivity, humility, honesty within us, radiates God’s purpose, and so is full of Life. It’s bound in all that is eternal, not in the mortal which is finite and limited.

All that we need to be God’s own expression, true to His cause, is given to us by God Himself. He has appointed and anointed us, and He is with us always in all that we do to share His powerful, healing light.

“And let the loveliness of our Lord, our God, rest on us, confirming the work that we do. Oh, yes. Affirm the work that we do!” (Psalms 90: 17, the Message Bible)

God’s approval is heaven. We treasure His full affirmation that we are on track, doing the good work God would have us do, and doing it in a way that is pleasing to Him, to Truth and Life.

This confirmation is not like the good review we might seek from a human boss or someone to whom we feel responsible. It is that sweet recognition that God has of us, of the very idea that He made. It is the great loveliness that rests upon us through His enduring and conscious Love for us.

As we accept and bask in God’s tender affection and live in a way that genuinely honors that Love and goodness, we can feel that blessing upon us. We are led to do good, naturally, and not for the sake of proving ourselves to men—pushing, struggling, pursuing the reward of money and fame. Instead, we feel aligned with the beauty of God, moving forward and achieving in a way that is graceful as well as productive.

Oh, yes, let’s seek and respond to God’s voice—leading us, encouraging us, and confirming that we are exactly what He created us to be!

“…the Eternal One does not pay attention to what humans value. Humans only care about the external appearance, but the Eternal considers the inner character.” (I Samuel 16: 7, the Voice Translation)

The inner man or woman is who God values. This true character is the ideal who God Himself created, and this is not found in the physical, the outward appearance.

We often get distracted by what we see on the surface and then judge our fellowman according to this view. But God isn’t concerned with our mistaken and limited sense of others and even of ourselves. The Eternal One perceives Truth, the qualities that are His own—goodness, love, pure motives. God sees humility and promotes it in us, for this attribute allows us to recognize what is right and true.

We can willingly and humbly pause and see through the way people look or even their outer personality traits, to who they really are. We can be less quick to judge one as better than another because of the external, and instead look to the heart, using our own hearts as our lens, our guide.

Let’s rejoice in this clearer view whereby we see true beauty in mankind, God’s own nature and glory revealed to us!

“Love sincerely. Hate evil. Hold on to what is good.” (Romans 12: 9, God’s Word Translation)

Sincerity begets blessings. As we love from a genuine place in our hearts, honestly and without artifice, we honor that Love that is God, Truth.

Being sincere in all that we do is powerful. It leads to success as well as true peace of mind. Alternately, as we begin our thoughts and actions with what we believe we should do or base them on only a hoped-for response or outcome, we are out of alignment with God’s intention, that which is right and real.

As we connect with what feels authentic to our hearts, that sense of goodness and integrity that God placed within us, we feel compelled to follow the second part of this demand. We simply can’t abide that which is evil, that which doesn’t jibe with Love and the Spirit of Truth. And this Love that we feel, deep within, is there with us, to hold on to, and to honor as saving and healing.

Love and goodness are active in you and with you. These qualities give you the capacity and right to despise and reject evil, and to do it sincerely, fearlessly, and gratefully.

“May my spoken words and unspoken thoughts be pleasing even to you, O Lord my Rock and my Redeemer.” (Psalms 19: 14, the Living Bible)

This is an inspired aspiration and one we can take to heart. The psalmist sought to speak and think in a way that would honor God, good. This prayer and recognition of God’s presence and power is a guiding light for us as we go about our lives.

Let’s pause and reflect before we speak. We may at first want to respond to someone in a way that boosts ourselves up or puts someone else down. We may speak to be heard and looked at, or in a way that is overly defensive or perhaps self-deprecating.

Do those words please God? Do our unspoken thoughts and motives feel worthy of our Rock and Redeemer, the Creator of all, the divine Life that is Love? We can surely speak freely, genuinely, but this authentic voice is the one that comes from our soul. It is full of goodness, kindness, understanding, and intelligence.

Our consciousness, when devoted to a higher purpose and ideal, is aligned with God Himself, and so we can express naturally what is right and constructive. And our silence, as well, can radiate a humility that allows God’s own certainty, serenity, and saving grace to powerfully shine through.

“And his allowance, a continual one, was given him by the king, every day a portion, for the rest of his life.” (II Kings 25: 30, Amplified Bible Classic Edition)

This promise of provision is for us all. Our king, our governing and leading and loving power is God. God has plentiful riches, which include His treasures of wisdom, light, inspiration, saving goodness, pure Love.

And God is constantly and consciously with us and for us. He gives us what we need. Let’s take this to heart and still the worrying voice inside that fears for tomorrow. Trust that your needs will be met, each day, and for the rest of your life. For you are valuable to the king, to your God, and He wants you to prosper and to feel at peace in each moment.

We can trust the lovingkindness, the generosity, the abundance, the wisdom of God to make us comfortable, revealing for each day just the right supply, the right opportunity, the right inspiration to uplift and to guide us. We can accept this guarantee of God’s presence with us, every day, and His ability to give us our allowance, like a father to his child, that we can use this day while confident that tomorrow and the next day and the one after that, we will receive a new blessing to enjoy as well as to share.

“You are the world’s light—it is impossible to hide a town built on the top of a hill…Let your light shine like that in the sight of men. Let them see the good things you do and praise your Father in Heaven.” (Matthew 5: 14, 16, JB Phillips New Testament)

You make a difference. You have the power and the beauty in you to make an impact. Don’t be shy about it. It’s not ego to shine the light that God gave you. It’s respect, wisdom, and it is loving.

We can enlighten the lives and lighten the burdens of those around us and of the world at large as we honor that Truth within us. We can act like the children of light that we are, and that means staying above the negative pull of the darkness. It means recognizing and claiming our own true purpose and the power of God that comes with it.

We can act in our lives as representatives of God. We can daily remind ourselves that going along with things, drifting along with the flow of the world’s limited view, is not good enough for God and it’s not good enough for us.

You are light. Own that description and express it willingly, humbly, and for the glory of God Who is the Source, the Love, the Life of you and of all.

“Watch closely: I am preparing something new; it’s happening now, even as I speak, and you’re about to see it. I am preparing a way through the desert; Waters will flow where there had been none.” (Isaiah 43: 19, the Voice Translation)

Something is happening! God is active all the time. He never declines and He never loses purpose and energy and freshness. He never gets off course, nor is there a moment when He stops loving us.

God is Life. This Life is unfolding goodness all the time. And while we may not always see things developing, direction appearing, God’s intention is underway. He is preparing, designing your experience in a way that is just right, timely, and even miraculous to the human sense.

Don’t get ahead of God or presume that what you see is what you get, what you are. You may feel stuck, but God is creating something new, a way through the desert that not only gets you to the other side, refreshed, but gives you enlightenment, new experiences, and views that enhance your life going forward.

Watch closely. Let God reveal His glory and yours!

“God our Father loves us. He is kind and has given us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope.” (II Thessalonians 2: 16, Contemporary English Version)

God loves us. This may sound simple, but let’s ponder what that really means. Love itself, the very essence and ideal of this glorious quality, is being expressed toward you, in you, for you, and around you.

This divine Love is one of a Father for a child, a Mother for Her baby. This Love is intimate, understanding, precise. It is wise and strong. This Love is certain of us and knows our every need. God’s Love is the power that formed us. It is out of Love that we are made, it constitutes our very being. Love is God’s intention, His method, and His medium. Love is what He is, and it is His constant, continuous activity.

This Love is comfort. This Love sees us clearly, knows us fully, and never leaves us alone. This Love adores being with us. We are His delight! We are always and now in God’s presence, and subject to the Love that is eternally kind, beyond human compassion.

This love of God is so full, it encompasses all space and time. This kindness is behind us, clearing our life of regret, and it is ahead of us assuring goodness and giving us a wonderful hope and the sweet peace of gratitude.
