loveliness

“And let the loveliness of our Lord, our God, rest on us, confirming the work that we do. Oh, yes. Affirm the work that we do!” (Psalms 90: 17, the Message Bible)

God’s approval is heaven. We treasure His full affirmation that we are on track, doing the good work God would have us do, and doing it in a way that is pleasing to Him, to Truth and Life.

This confirmation is not like the good review we might seek from a human boss or someone to whom we feel responsible. It is that sweet recognition that God has of us, of the very idea that He made. It is the great loveliness that rests upon us through His enduring and conscious Love for us.

As we accept and bask in God’s tender affection and live in a way that genuinely honors that Love and goodness, we can feel that blessing upon us. We are led to do good, naturally, and not for the sake of proving ourselves to men—pushing, struggling, pursuing the reward of money and fame. Instead, we feel aligned with the beauty of God, moving forward and achieving in a way that is graceful as well as productive.

Oh, yes, let’s seek and respond to God’s voice—leading us, encouraging us, and confirming that we are exactly what He created us to be!
