“For I am convinced [and continue to be convinced—beyond any doubt] that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present and threatening, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the [unlimited] love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8: 38-39, Amplified Bible)

Paul was completely confident. This inspired man preached the gospel and healed many. He was both a persecutor, before his conversion, and one who suffered persecution as he pursued his ministry. Yet, all that he endured only led to his utter conviction, without any doubts, that nothing could separate us from God.

This verse lists a number of possible reasons we might feel we are alone or in danger. We may think that distance keeps Love from us, or that circumstance keeps Life from us. We may believe that those humanly in charge can take away our peace and rob us of our joy.

But Paul knew otherwise. He trusted the Christ—that awareness of our relationship with God, as His dear child—and so Paul felt assured, safe, and ready to share this good news with others. Our oneness with God means we are never without infinite resources, the spiritual goodness and grace that is God’s quality and activity. We are never without the fullness of God’s Love for us. This consciousness gives us peace, strength, and conviction today and every day.

“Now I can say to myself and to all, ‘Relax and rest, be confident and serene, for the Lord rewards fully those who simply trust in him.’” (Psalms 116:7, the Passion Translation)

Trusting may seem difficult. We may find our fears and doubts seem too strong and overwhelming.

But to trust God is to relieve those fears and doubts. It is what gives us rest. This surrender to God—letting go of the analyzing and judging, predicting and limiting—is what we are made to do. It isn’t a stretch to release to a higher power and greater wisdom. It is that childlike response that is natural.

And this gives us confidence. We are giving up a reliance on the weak and the uncertain, and instead we are leaning into and upon the all-power, that which is infinite Life, goodness, and Love. And this is a rich reward. It is true peace. It takes away anxiety and allows us to relax. It gives us the openness to see new promises unfold.

God’s purpose is loving. His wisdom is perfect. Let’s yield to that inner desire to relax and rely, to simply trust God and let Him show us all the good He has for us today.

“Thanks be to God who leads us, wherever we are, on his own triumphant way and makes our knowledge of him spread throughout the world like a lovely perfume!” (II Corinthians 2: 14, J.B. Phillips New Testament)

Yes, let’s be actively grateful to God for His presence and guidance. The Truth is with us, wherever we are. We have the opportunity and the ability to know God, good, in this moment and to radiate that awareness in our lives.

This constant connection to God, right here and now, means a oneness with infinite Love. We are in that Love and of that Love. This is true power, and it is just, kind, and irresistible. Let’s walk through our world with a knowledge of Love and be ready to share this divine affection with others.

As we humbly surrender to this Love that leads us, we emanate this quality naturally. So, we don’t have to force our thoughts and beliefs on others, to try to make them see our goodness or righteousness. Divine Love itself does the job. We have this gentle perfume about us, Love’s aroma, and it touches others in a compelling way that brings inspiration and hope and healing.

Thanks be to God!

“And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts.” (Psalms 119: 45)

Our liberty is revealed as we seek what is right and follow to the best of our ability. We don’t have to wait until some hereafter to feel free. The discovery of life as God made it to be unfolds moment by moment, as we listen and learn.

Let’s recognize that walking at liberty doesn’t come through human perfection, a final goal achieved. Our freedom is about the seeking. It is in the search for Truth that we explore, that we live, and that we come to know more of what truly constitutes Life.

God is daily with us. His law is Love. His precepts, His directions for action and conduct, keep us safe. These instructions lead us to be our true selves and yet without ego and willfulness.

Following God’s wisdom, we behave in a way that is honest and good for one and all. This never limits us. It sets us free! We let go of mortal limitations—fears, shame, guilt, blame, doubt—and are able to continue to seek and to find, protected by God’s law and alive to His promises each new day.

“Now since we have chosen to walk with the Spirit, let’s keep each step in perfect sync with God’s Spirit. This will happen when we set aside our self-interests and work together to create true community instead of a culture consumed by provocation, pride, and envy.” (Galatians 5: 25-26, the Voice Translation)

Let’s get in sync with God. Let’s harmonize with what is right and good for us individually, and for our community and world as well.

If we are awakening to the Truth, coming into a fuller awareness of and appreciation for divine goodness, the infinite Spirit of Life and of Love, then let’s choose to walk the walk. We truly get into step with God as we set aside ego and focus on the greater good. When we begin to release pride and self-justification—the pull to argue for “our side” without listening, to attempt to feel superior—we are getting into God’s rhythm, true harmony.

And so, the Spirit of God, that true power, is brought to bear on situations. We feel a strength and control beyond limited human resources. We are able to work wisely and well for one another and for all. In this honest yielding to God, this release to His Love, we naturally feel more giving and forgiving as well as more content. We find that our righteous efforts bear fruit, creating and sustaining community, the unity that is aligned with God’s purpose of progress and peace.

“Your calling is to fulfill the royal law of love as given to us in this Scripture: ‘You must love and value your neighbor as you love and value yourself!’ For keeping this law is the noble way to live. But when you show prejudice you commit sin and you violate this royal law of love!” (James 2: 8-9, the Passion Translation)

Let’s delight in living nobly. Let’s remember that this dignified and honorable way of life is our true calling, our genuine purpose. This divine intention is inherent in us, and it is also what brings us the truest peace and satisfaction.

It’s easy to get caught up in the sense of “us and them” or “me and him.” It’s tempting, especially in today’s world, to feel there are those who deserve our love and those who do not. It can feel justifiable to see the “other” as different and dangerous or simply beyond our comprehension.

But this royal law of love is God’s own law, one that is both just and powerful. As we fulfill our calling, love and value others and let go of ego—of those self-centered beliefs that can include both superiority and fear—we are living nobly and richly. For to love one another provides us with plentiful opportunities to discover more of God’s blessings. We behold and appreciate those vital treasures we may have been missing, and we find out more about our true and best selves as well.

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]” (Matthew 11: 28, Amplified Bible Classic Edition)

Receive this invitation from the ever-present Comforter. Let’s remember in times of burden and stress, we have a place of rest. God’s mighty gentleness is with us, as Jesus taught and demonstrated. As we acknowledge and accept our oneness with God, the weight is lifted, the pressure released.

We are being called to rest. This is a divine demand, not just a sweet possibility. If we heed Jesus’ words, we let go of the ego and its need to be in charge and remember our unity with God. As we come to this Truth, this Christ message, we find true peace, balance, poise, and confidence.

We needn’t berate ourselves for carrying those burdens for too long, for holding on to responsibility or even for complaining about our lot. This rest that is offered by the Christ-Truth is one that washes us clean in this moment. It refreshes our souls now, relieves the outward burden and also the inner struggle to feel innocent and free.

Come willingly and gratefully to this release. Let God’s merciful goodness lift the load off your back and lift you up to a higher perspective for today and the days to come.

“The periods of spiritual ascension are the days and seasons of Mind’s creation, in which beauty, sublimity, purity, and holiness — yea, the divine nature — appear in man and the universe never to disappear.” (Science and Health, p. 509)

What a great joy and relief it is to recognize life as spiritual progression. We may get caught up in phases of experience, where time and age seem to have control, inviting us into limitation. We may feel that the world itself is also going through transitions that are unfavorable and even destructive.

But there is another and truer story worth awakening to. It is the awareness of spiritual ascension—the seasons of God’s creating where change is evolution, growth, progress, not a tapering off, destruction, and demise. As we are receptive to this spiritual narrative, one that reveals more of God’s goodness, we begin to see this reality in our daily lives.

For the periods of eternity are not confined to days and years, to matter and its unkindness. These stages start within the boundless thought of God, and Love unfolds to us these ideas, this inspiration, the qualities of God’s divine nature, in perceivable ways. We behold healing, vitality, beauty, peace within, and feel a more genuine love for mankind.

This is ascension. It leads upward to a higher idea, one that continues to give us new views and grander possibilities each moment—today, tomorrow, forever.

“Look here, what’s done is done and gone. The now is new, and there’s hope in the not-yet. I will tell you what’s to come, even before the events are brand-new.” (Isaiah 42: 9, Voice Translation)

This is an assurance from God, divine Truth, of a new day full of promise. God is reminding his receptive followers of old and us today that the past is over and done and that the now is new.

And this new day also holds a message for what is to come. Our Father-Mother is the Creator, the divine Mind and Cause. And He is Love. He brings us goodness in this moment and also a hope for tomorrow. And today He begins to share to our open hearts and minds what the future holds for us. He reveals to us inspiration, insight, as well as comfort and peace, to ready us for what is to come.

Let’s release the past and be willing to hear God’s good news for today, His day. Let’s allow ourselves to be in the moment, in the new now, ready and grateful for the saving grace of God’s Love and what it can bring to our lives.

“When I was at my weakest, my enemies attacked—but the Lord held on to me. His love broke open the way and he brought me into a beautiful broad place. He rescued me—because his delight is in me!” (Psalms 18: 18-19, Passion Translation)

There are times when we may feel especially vulnerable. We are lost and confused, even more sensitive to the attacks of the enemy—whether that foe is a literal opponent or challenges like disease or lack.

We can listen to the humble words in this verse. The psalmist, in his weakness, is confident of one thing. God. He knows that God is holding on to him, keeping him safe in spite of the turmoil and trouble. We, too, have this protection and we also have the love that takes it all one step further.

God’s Love does not settle only for keeping us intact, unharmed. God also delivers us into something even better, a beautiful broad place—one that has room to progress and to feel free. God’s purpose for saving us is not that He is angry at us and has chosen to set that aside with an act of mercy. God is Love and He delights in us. This is why He rescues us and why we can expect His strength in our weakness and His opportunities when every door seems closed.

The Lord is holding you, and it is an embrace of pure and powerful Love!
