Daily Inspiration, June 16th

“For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength:” (Isaiah 30: 15)

Our salvation is easier than we may think. It is not about striving and reaching and running in search of something elusive or difficult to understand or arrive at. The Holy One, our loving God, has told us in this passage just how to find our salvation, our harmony, our peace, our safety.

It is by coming home to divine Love, to the Truth of our lives as the children of God. As we give up the sense of personal achievement, intellectualism, success based on will and luck, we discover our true power. As we relinquish personal control, we find our heaven, ready to welcome us in.

It is in a quiet confidence in God—as the Father and Mother of us and of our lives—that we discover real peace and the strength that can truly succeed, and which can also graciously share of that richness with others. It is not by becoming someone and something or by human actions that we are saved. It is by settling in to who we already are, who God made us to be. It is by returning to ourselves as the beloved, worthy, wonderful children of God and both the object and the evidence of His faithful and mighty Love.

Daily Inspiration, June 2nd

“When we wait patiently on God and seek Truth righteously, He directs our path.” (Science and Health, page 254)

Our life is in God’s capable hands. Our tomorrow is not an iffy proposition, a fear, or a false hope. Each moment belongs to God and to know this, is to find peace in this moment and guidance forward into the next—rightly timed, perfectly paced, and most satisfying.

Our job is not to create our next reality. Neither should we race out on the path ahead of our inspiration—running and in our haste to gain some perceived goal, missing the details that are so very needed and also beautiful, enlightening, wise. What we must do is seek Truth righteously. We must and can be still in this moment, trusting God and looking to Him and His perfect Mind for our next step, HIS next right revelation in the progressive Life He guarantees for us.

Patience doesn’t need to be a challenge. It can and should be a precious pause for gratitude. It is space to listen not merely for human actions, but for something greater—divine intention, an awareness of God’s loving qualities and of our own deserving of them. Our reward is not in the human path we are taking. It is in those patient angel moments, looking to God and discovering who we are and why we are so dearly loved.

Daily Inspiration, May 28th

“Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?” (Romans 6: 16)

Our devotion is all-important. Where we choose to give our focus, the worship of either our affection or our fear, determines what kind of a life we will experience. We have the opportunity each day to decide whether we want to serve the god calling itself the senses, limitation, time, and fear or whether we want to obey and honor Truth, righteousness.

Be conscientious about this. When we are obedient to goodness, love, honesty, purity, peace, the results are that we live in accord with the law, the true law of Love. Obeying and honoring this law, we are protected by it and provided with all that God’s government would supply for our well-being. On the other hand, if we continue to limit our lives, follow a course of resentment, of guilt, of unloving conclusions drawn from the senses and material opinions, we are serving those “gods,” so to speak, that have no power to protect us, keep us, or love us.

“Yielding” ourselves as servants to righteousness, is not a hardship. Yielding is surrendering to the Life that God has made for us and for which we are well-suited. In being true to God, we are being true to ourselves, and we “serve” God by naturally reflecting His goodness, love, and Truth in our fruitful and satisfying lives.

Daily Inspiration, May 26th

“You didn’t choose me, remember; I chose you, and put you in the world to bear fruit, fruit that won’t spoil. As fruit bearers, whatever you ask the Father in relation to me, he gives you. But remember the root command: Love one another.” (John 15: 16-17, Message Bible)

We are chosen by God, called by the voice of Truth to bear witness to His glory and His goodness. And we have heard this divine beckoning and responded with gratitude and joy in knowing that we are one with God and that He is good. We have received the blessing and we can’t give it back or lose it.

Our mission is to bring to the world, through our thinking and through our lives, this healing word for all. We can do this because we are under divine authority. We are the sure representatives, the emissaries to God’s purpose, and therefore we have His own power behind us to carry this purpose out. His intention is that infinite Life, Truth, and Love be known in earth as it is in heaven—that all creation shall become conscious of its true harmony.

The power we have comes from our loyalty. We are empowered and protected by divine authority as we abide by the “root command.” Without this, we are not obedient and we can’t bear fruit on our own. The divine and necessary mandate is that we love one another. Without love for each other and for all, we can’t possibly do God’s work well and live as the blessed blessing that we are. God is Love and this is the Truth that is productive, active, all-powerful, saving, and healing.

Daily Inspiration, May 21st

“Comeliness and grace are independent of matter. Being possesses its qualities before they are perceived humanly.” (Science and Health, page 247)

You are a natural beauty. You have inherent grace and radiance and loveliness. You can’t be without these virtues at any time because they are spiritual. These qualities are God’s own Spirit revealed. They are the attributes of being, of divine Life—your Life.

God expresses those attractive qualities through His creation. They have nothing to do with matter and so they can neither be lost nor found therein. This genuine and enduring beauty is native to God’s ideas because Soul could not and would not form an ugly, graceless, unpleasing concept. Soul is abundant in all that is lovely and pleasant and this Soul, God’s glory, must be expressed.

And so there is you and there is me—the lovely ideas of our loving Father-Mother. We glow with the nature of God’s brilliance and always have. This is who we are, and this truth of our being, claimed and accepted, shines brightly for all the world, heaven and earth, to perceive and appreciate.

Daily Inspiration, May 19th

“Only God can keep you from falling and make you pure and joyful in his glorious presence. Before time began and now and forevermore, God is worthy of glory, honor, power, and authority. Amen.” (Jude 1: 24-25, Contemporary English Version)

You are safe. You are secure in God’s keeping because His Almighty hand holds you above the threats of mortal sense and the fears which attend a belief in material life, time, and limits.

Human will-power, physical force, and luck, are not able to keep us thriving, happy, free, protected, pure. It is only God that has this power, because it is His presence and love that assures our well-being. Because He is the Mind, the Life, the Truth, God’s creation is under His control. Knowing this and obeying Him—acknowledging and resting in His law, His authority—we find ourselves to be sheltered from fear, failure, and grief. We are held in God’s arms that both comfort us and protect us.

The first and final Word is God, good. He made us and we abide in Him. In this heaven of His consciousness, His Love, we remain as we are and always have been—the very loved of God—no matter what the senses might want to accuse us of. We cannot fall from grace for God never lost a single idea or let it become less perfect than the one that He made and eternally loves.

Amen!

Daily Inspiration, May 14th

“Let be and be still, and know (recognize and understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth!” (Psalms 46: 10, Amplified Bible)

God will be, must be exalted above all. He must be seen and worshipped, known as the one and only power and supreme over the earth and all that is in it. This right recognition of God is a prayer that does not strive and struggle to know God through human intelligence or actions.

The supremacy of good, of Life, of Love is found by being still and letting God be what He already and always is. It is that release of control, of worry, of doubt and fear, to acceptance. This is not about giving up and agreeing to live with challenges and troubles. It is about pausing for comfort, enlightenment, and that acknowledgment of God’s presence that is necessary if we are to truly feel and know the protection and affection of His loving law.

Let it be. Be still. Accept that God is over all and that His goodness is for you. By exalting His name; by letting Him be the One Mind and Life and Truth, we are released from the confusion and burden of being in charge. Recognize and understand that God, being All and in All, has your life, you, and the whole earth safely and perfectly in the palm of His loving hand.

Daily Inspiration, May 12th

“Put up with each other, and forgive anyone who does you wrong, just as Christ has forgiven you. Love is more important than anything else. It is what ties everything completely together.” (Colossians 3: 13-14, Contemporary English Version)

Love is the supreme solution. The Christ comes to teach and demonstrate the power of Love and our need to fully realize it and express it. Love ties everything completely together, as this version of the passage reminds us. Without Love, there is confusion, uncertainty, lack of peace individually and as a world.

Never underestimate the power of Love. Love is not merely a personal, human thing we feel and practice either in certain instances or with specific goals in mind. Love is God. It is infinite power and presence and it is the very fabric of Life as it truly is. To discover and live the reality of this heaven, this Life that is Love, we must accept its presence and express it freely, honestly, and gratefully.

We are all united by God, by divine Love. We naturally have this bond with all mankind, with every living thing. To deny this or to defy this Truth is to go against what is natural and right and real. To hate or resent when we can love and forgive is to resist the natural order of things, and this is going to be tough going. We can’t find heaven if we are accepting and expressing hell.

Lean into the presence of Love. Accept this wonderful forgiveness that the Christ preached, lifting ourselves out of self-condemnation and blame. And let this Love, gladly received, be shared freely and without qualification. This is power, joy, and peace. This is the living Christ!

Daily Inspiration, May 7th

“Let your hope make you glad. Be patient in time of trouble and never stop praying.” (Romans 12: 12, Contemporary English Version)

Trust the hopefulness that you feel in spite of trouble. Deep inside, whether it is strong or a simple flicker, there is a natural hope, a belief in salvation, renewal, peace. This flame in us is God’s own voice, one that will always be with us to encourage us. For while the world may present obstacles and limits and lies, the Truth of God remains in you and me, for God put it there.

This is a cause for gladness. That small or great hope for oneself and for our world is an indication of the promise. It is God telling us that we can win; that we can conquer the challenges and see the goodness of His kingdom, the unchanging reality of Life. So, we can be grateful for this hope and nurture it. We can refuse to question that glimmer of goodness we feel, or that smile that comes in spite of an array of human problems. We can love that hope because it is the way home.

Prayer cultivates that hope. When we pray, we take that seed and water it, focusing our attention on what is good and right and loving. Then we can patiently and gratefully perceive each little bloom that appears; each new discovery of good that not only shows progress, but gives new colors to our lives before unseen. Our patience is not mere tolerance. It is loving our sweet hope enough to let it blossom into its full flowering glory, in God’s way—the right way—and to reveal that glorious garden that has always been ready for us to enjoy.

Daily Inspiration, May 5th

“In order to pray aright, we must enter into the closet and shut the door. We must close the lips and silence the material senses. In the quiet sanctuary of earnest longings, we must deny sin and plead God’s allness.”  (Science and Health, page 15)

The most effective prayer is one that is all about God. To really be at one with His purpose and in full awareness of His loving goodness, we must deny that which is unlike Him, those other “gods” that would divide our loyalty and muddy our clear and certain answer.

Take your devotion to God, to Spirit, Life and Love, into the closet of your prayer. Your “earnest longings” are allowed in. That yearning heart that seeks a better understanding of God and His presence demonstrates receptive humility and a readiness to believe what God would tell us in this sacred place.

Our prayer is about God. God is Spirit. He is Love. He isn’t impressed with or swayed by complaint, a recounting of symptoms and lack and sins. These must be denied a hearing, so that God, Truth, can have His healing moment with us. God does not need to know our problems for He is active in being the solution, the fullness, the completeness, the Love that the human sense would yearn to know.

Quiet the words and do your best to turn away from the senses. Then your prayer will be one that is listening for the Word of Truth with a stillness that is ready to hear it and to be embraced in the loving, healing allness of God.
