“You, Lord, give true peace. You give peace to those who depend on you. You give peace to those who trust you.” (Isaiah 26: 3, International Children’s Bible)
True peace. We all would surely like some of that! A feeling of peace in the midst of chaos or concern is such an amazing blessing, and one that carries with it power to help others in distress or confusion.
Even if we enjoy having a more adventurous or challenging life, one that on its face doesn’t seem still or quiet, we still desire peace within, a sense of serenity in the midst of activity.
This true peace isn’t about inaction. It isn’t simply about a lack of visible conflict. It is a deep feeling within us that is greater than us. It is God, divine Spirit and Love, that gives us that real and natural peace.
We can turn to God and away from what the senses report or what the mortal mind gets fixated on. We can stop depending on ourselves or on circumstances to bring us this peace. We can cast our cares on God, trust Him, really depend on the divine One to care for us and for all.
Doing this, the friction stops. The noise is silenced. We discover the peace that comes from knowing that God is in perfect control and that He is always and right now, pure light and powerful Love.
