“Thus saith the Lord; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the Lord.” (Jeremiah 31:16)
Life can feel full of disappointments. It can seem we do our best and yet aren’t as successful, appreciated, or well-compensated as we would like. We may feel frustrated, hopeless, ready to give up on ourselves or on the world.
But listen to the Lord. Turn away from the human picture of despair and turn with a humble, listening ear toward God. He does see our worth. He knows our motives. He has put this goodness in us, made us valuable and needed, and He is utilizing us for His purpose.
So, we certainly can expect blessings. In fact, we can begin to feel the peace and contentment of knowing that God is, indeed, pleased. His Love is more than material compensation and accolades. His approval is a richness that fills our hearts and souls. This awareness wipes our tears so we can see more clearly what we have accomplished, who we have touched, and the real reward of being God’s child, expressing His qualities in whatever way we feel led, moment by moment.
Our work for good is not for naught, and when we look to God for the remuneration of His generous Love, we will also begin to see and experience in our daily lives the rewards of our work—the progress, the fulfillment, the supply, and the success.
