“Live in true devotion to one and another, loving each other as sisters and brothers. Be first to honor others by putting them first.” (Romans 12: 10, the Voice Translation)
Let’s live with love as our intention and our activity. Let’s consciously think of one another as brothers and sisters and treat all as family.
This family is the offspring of God—His beautiful creation meant to dwell together harmoniously, to express His goodness and life and light. We can be truly devoted to God by tenderly loving and treating with respect those ideas He made.
Do we put another first? Do we honor one another with our thoughtfulness, our compassion, our understanding? Or do we, rather, hustle through life looking out for number one as the world would have us do?
We all know how good it feels to be helpful to another, to be kind when we didn’t need to, to do something for another person when we didn’t have to. We can remember the sweet reward felt within when we put another ahead of ourselves. We can recognize and cherish God’s own love in this.
To love others is to feel love ourselves. And this is a win-win!
