“Spirit, God, gathers unformed thoughts into their proper channels, and unfolds these thoughts, even as He opens the petals of a holy purpose in order that the purpose may appear.” (Science and Health, p. 506:1)

This metaphor so wonderfully captures both the beauty and the naturalness of progress and purpose. We recognize and accept that a flower will grow, and its petals open in just the way it must, without willful thought or effort.

Just so, when we feel a seed of an idea germinating, or an inspiration just out of our grasp, or a purpose that feels less than fully formed, raw and unlovely, we can release ourselves to God’s care. Spirit is able to unfold so naturally and rightly what is best for us to see and to pursue, as well as how we are to do this.

And this unfolding good is perfectly timed. Each phase of discovery comes in a way that is perceivable and attainable. Each petal has its own beauty to behold and to linger with, before the final bloom comes forth.

Let’s trust God with our lives and our purpose. Let’s let go of human over-thinking and manipulation, impatience and doubt, and allow God’s gentle hand to reveal moment by moment, our right and satisfying and beautiful lives.
