“Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12: 32)
Being a sheep, a dear lamb in God’s flock, doesn’t mean we have no freedom. Indeed, it means the very opposite. Being a part of God’s flock—one of His children, watched over and cared for—means we receive the kingdom.
And the greatest quality of God’s kingdom of harmony and Love is the fearlessness it gives us. And the less fear we have, the more free we are, the more we can really live and enjoy the riches of being, the glorious opportunities and possibilities that are at hand.
This kingdom isn’t a far-off place, and it isn’t something we have to earn through some perfect humanhood. It is God’s pleasure to give it to us because He is our Father, as Jesus tells us, and we are His children, His flock. This is the fact of our being now, so this sense of peace and joy and well-being is ours now as well.
We are shepherded by God’s attention and affection. We are not alone alternating between hope and dread. We live under the care of the One Who is Love. The kingdom, the awareness of the presence of pure Love, is ours right now, right here. Fear not!
