“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.” (Psalms 139: 23, 24, New Living Translation)

We can eagerly invite God to examine us. We can remember that this Father-Mother is both wisdom and pure Love. We can be ready to be seen just as we are by this tender Parent. We don’t need to be afraid or ashamed. God’s intention is to show us the better way, cleanse us of unlovely thoughts and intentions, soothe and heal our anxieties.

It may feel like we either want to hang on to our doubts, our history, our unlovely traits or that they just can’t be cleared away. But, an offense to God—what is not made of His goodness and Life and Truth—is unacceptable, and it is also unnatural to us. God’s Love shows us how to release these lies about our goodness and to be our true selves.

We can be open and willing to let God’s loving light shine in on us. His searching isn’t about punishing us, but about healing us. This revealing light doesn’t come to shame us, but to show us our true worth and the ability and power we have to enjoy the path of promise, expanding as we walk in it, with God’s approval and support!
