“Do you not say, ‘It is four months yet until the time to gather grain’? Listen! I say to you, open your eyes and look at the fields. They are white now and waiting for the grain to be gathered in.” (John 4: 35, New Life Version)

Be ready. Let go of the excuses and rationalizations. Release that sense that you must wait for some ideal human moment, one that is just right for your engagement, participation, advancement, and fruition.

Jesus was telling his apostles to open their eyes to the readiness of the people to receive the truth and the apostles’ own readiness to share it. They could be alert, spiritually, and perceive the right timing and precise way in which to work the fields, gathering up the good and recognizing the ripe opportunities to spread the healing word to all.

This verse can mean so many things, of course. It reminds us that our own goodness is not out in tomorrow, to be patiently or impatiently anticipated. We have God and His spiritual ideas fully right now. We have the ability to see this richness and to claim the life and the health and the joy that is rightfully and inherently ours to have. We can take hold of a true awareness of our own abundance and our own worthiness to receive it. Right here and now.

Get ready. There is so much here and now to see and know and be and share. The fields are calling you. Come and get it!
