“Live together in peace, and our instruction to this end is to reprimand the unruly, encourage the timid, help the weak and be very patient with all men…good should be your objective always, among yourselves and in the world at large.” (I Thessalonians 5: 13-15, JB Phillips New Testament)
With good as our objective always, the patience and helpfulness and encouragement of others will come naturally. As we accept a higher purpose for ourselves, we are led to do what is loving, as well as right toward one another. This peace within us expands to include our family, friends, community, and the world.
Cultivate this goodness in you. You were not made to be selfish or judgmental. You were not meant to exclude and to be impatient or apathetic. You were made to radiate God Himself—goodness that is powerful and pleasing and achieves His intention of peace and harmony and unity.
Listen to your heart and respond with eagerness. Every time we answer the call of God, of goodness and kindness and helpfulness, we are coming into line with His design for us. We are recognizing our true selves and yielding up the selfish and unsatisfying and separate and false view of ourselves.
Look around you. Children of God abound. Each is worthy and wonderful. You are one of these children as well. Act like it. This acceptance of your true heritage gives you access to the riches of contentment and joy within and impacts the world as well with the natural and vital and healing power of God’s goodness expressed!
