“Serve one another with the particular gifts God has given each of you, as faithful dispensers of the magnificently varied grace of God.” (I Peter 4: 10)
You have many gifts. These talents and skills and qualities are unique and uniquely yours. No one has exactly what you have to give and no one can share them in exactly the manner that you can.
Our special gifts aren’t meant to be hidden or hoarded. They are also not to be diminished. These special abilities and qualities of thought and character that we have are incomparable and worthy of our cherishing. They are of God. Because of His “varied grace,”—the multitude of ways in which He loves us—we are blessed with particular gifts.
You have a holy purpose and all that is needed to carry it out. You have been equipped to serve one another, to honor your wonderful self that God made, by letting go of it. We thank God for our blessings by giving to others and giving the glory to Him.
You have special treasures to share. Nurture and respect them. Be willing to discover and put into practice new ones. Giving of these will never deplete you of them. Serving one another with the abilities with which you have been endowed by God Himself can’t leave you weary or exposed to hurt. Know that the loving Source of those qualities is leading you in utilizing them, helping others in doing so, pleasing Him, and proving the infinite scope and variety of God’s gracious, wonderful Love.
