“Prayer cannot change the unalterable Truth, nor can prayer alone give us an understanding of Truth; but prayer, coupled with a fervent habitual desire to know and do the will of God, will bring us into all Truth.” (Science and Health, page 11)
The Truth is settled and it is perfectly good. The established facts of being are harmony, perfection, and peace. Prayer can’t make God any more ever-present and loving than He already is. Prayer alone can’t bring us a full understanding of God’s infinite Mind and of His divine purpose. There is more that must be done.
God is all action and intention. A human prayer does not impact God’s will. It awakens us to it. It brings thought into line with the divine intention, clearing the mists of material sense and showing us our true being and the state of things as they really are. Our prayer is our conscious choice to enter into a place of peace, of worship, of hope, of expectation, and of Love, and to do it again and again. This open and willing and not willful mind is a stance which invites in angels.
And with this conscious state of God, good, we are ready to gain even more. As we commune with God and not material sense, mortal men, or human thought, we gain clarity and a power that can bring us into all Truth. It is not so much about knowing all things, but about wanting to know. It isn’t about getting ahead of God’s plan, but about keeping in step with it, with the daily glimpse of the fullness of His Love and the rightness of His will, His sweet and certain intention for you and all.

Well, THAT certainly was inspired. What a beautiful message. So comforting and clear. Thanks for that simple thought about how prayer leads us to God, not God to us!!
Thanks, Pat!
